How to fix Guerins stupid moves as best a possible
Actually a pretty interesting roster - but ultimately the bottom 6 forward group is pretty weak, gonna run eichel into the ground by the time playoffs come.

Wild Bill Off-Season Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DogDayCaps2</b></div><div>We don't have any problem with people who <strong>complain</strong> because<strong> they have a drive to win</strong>. lol interesting. What has Eichel done to change the culture and make this team a winner. Has he been a great leader or does complaining while doing nothing.... thats what really get you going ? lol
" We do take issue with people who think their skill is enough and don't have to do anything else" interesting bc Lav benched Kuzy and he asked why.... Lav said you need to play defense. Kuzy putup his best defensive numbers in years while gaining ice time...
irony .... " We do take issue with people who think their skill is enough and don't have to do anything else" thats Eichel lol (mind blown)</div></div>
It doesn’t help that Eichel was anointed the franchise savior, a future hall of famer, and gave him so much pull and influence in an organization. He was also annointed future captain the day he was drafted.
Because of this we tried to win quickly instead of building properly and it cost us long term. We even tried to pursue Steven Stamkos, but we ended up with Kyle Okposo 😂 the number two ufa that year
He disliked Dan Bylsma and he was canned. He was rumored to have some dislike for Ryan O’Reilly, and he was eventually ousted after his losing the love for the game comments and some fans in Buffalo even viewed ROR as a cancer. Eichel loved Ralph Kreuger, and i gaurentee it was at least a consideration as to why Kreuger stayed on longer than he should have. We even constantly brought in many of his former friends and BU teammates to the organization such as Evan Rodrigues, Jimmy Vesey, Brandon Hickey, and Danny O’Reagan
We signed Jeff Skinner to a ridiculous overpayment of a contract that will cripple the organization for years to keep Eichel happy.
Eichel also never came into a team where there is a good leadership core. He needs a change of scenery badly and Minnesota will be that for him. He will not get that special treatment in Minnesota, but I will promise you that the combination of Eichel and Kaprizov will be filthy, if Eichel is healthy of couse.
Elite number one centers of Eichels caliber rarely come free, that’s why even injured he still has high value. But if you do acquire a player like him, expect some of the disadvantages that come with a star player like keeping him happy. I don’t think that will be a problem in Minnesota as long as they win

Kuzy's issues are alot different than Eichel's issues. We don't have any problem with people who complain because they have a drive to win (see: Kevin Garnett). We do take issue with people who think their skill is enough and don't have to do anything else (see: Christian Laitner). Eichel will do well here.

Wild Bill deals with the All-in Teams
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_Habs_fan</b></div><div>Well they can protect at least Eek, probably greenway too</div></div>
If you go the 8 skater route, unless Parise or Zuccarello waive their NMC, you can choose 2 of Eriksson Ek, Fiala, Foligno, and Greenway to protect. I would argue that Eriksson Ek, Fiala, and Greenway are all easily more valuable than Dumba with Foligno being debatable.

Eichel and value on other players
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Schmidty2go</b></div><div>I think Buffalo fans in general are going to expect way more than they ultimately will get for Eichel WHEN he is traded. A few weeks back I suggested a Wild trade of both 1st's this year, Fiala and Khovanov and was yelled at by a Buffalo fan saying we needed to include Kaprizov. As I told him, I wouldn't trade Kaprizov straight up for Eichel as he look like he could be that good (and with a better attitude).
I'd love to see him come to the Wild, and I do think GMBG planted some seeds with Adam's on that Staal trade which was one sided... but I am not sure it will get done given success of the Wild this year and the cap room needed to make that happen. If the Wild could move Dumba somewhere else, then they'd have the cap space to take Eichel on. I guess we'll see where Jack ends up and for how much in the near future.</div></div>
Ya I agree. The expectation that they will get laf + or byfield + is unreasonable. If you’re getting the first or second overall pick from last years draft there will not be a boatload of other valuable pieces in the deal.
If Minnesota moves dumba for some assets then maybe they would have some more enticing pieces in an eichel trade rather than having Buffalo get dumba and then having to flip him themselves.

Eichel and value on other players
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SalamiCheese</b></div><div>Perhaps, but it seems to be true. Such players are rarely traded, but it was before the season, so I wrote that the price might be slightly less, but hardly much less. This package just doesn't even come close. I'm sure Adams would have asked Boldy instead of Rossi, because that is the type of player he would be looking for. And Dumba definitely shouldn't have been in the deal.</div></div>
Rossi makes more sense than boldy. He is a higher rated prospect and plays a premier position. In any Eichel trade they are going to have to take back some contracts. Dumba can easily be flipped for more prospects. Muzzin went for a 1st and two recent 2nd round guys. Dumba is younger and under contract longer than Muzzin. He would fetch a higher price. It doesn’t have to be frost but he can probably get you a 1st and a recent former 1st round prospect at least.

And I agree on Dumba... getting a late 1st from Philly with Frost, and then pick up a 3rd on the trade of Gustufsson makes it a 1st, Top Prospect and 3rd for Dumba which I think is pretty fair for a Right Shot D with his skill, shot, age & term.</div></div>
Right, I’m on board that a 1st needs to be there but I’m not concerned about making the Pens pick a lotto. The odds are too small to really take that into into account.

Pick is less of a concern, getting full value for Dumba is more important.

Honesty, Hartman could be a good fit there if MIN makes him available. He’s got more skill than you’d expect and he is the prototypical playoff forward, not to mention his attitude would be fantastic.

Yes, they have better prospects but if they are traded away to get him... then there isn't much coming to help him.
MTL has all the assets, just no Cap Space. They could put together a very serious offer if they wanted... Caufield, Poehling, etc. They also have 14 picks in the 2021 draft lol
NYR have some good prospects but I am not sure they are willing to trade most of them and 6 our of their top 7 are defenseman. Is Buffalo going to take 3 D prospects instead? Doubtful
I will be interesting to see where he ends up. Thanks all for your input into this trade thread.</div></div>
Kings have that cal Peterson, who they are high on and rightfully so, he has looked pretty good everytime I see him play.
Definitely right the cap will play into this equation, but Eichel gets 10mil AAV so that will be a factor for any team that goes after him. The price will be interesting, but Eichel wanting out and the flat cap will drive down his value also GMs won't want to put huge holes in their current lineups, otherwise risk having Jack pout in a Buffalo 2.0 situation.

Does anybody even have 2 2022 1sts? And if I get Eichel on my team, I’m more willing to offer picks because they are probably worse than they would have been. If you push the picks back to 22/23, you’re likely looking at 20 or higher. Teams aren’t gonna give up assets for Eichel if they don’t think they aren’t gonna won more now.

I would have loved to grab Dawson Mercer or Lukas Reichel at 15 last year, but realistically, the player we get with their pick this year is probably going to be roughly the same quality. However, with this year's pick, there's also a chance that it could be much better (top 10), so I'll take that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>So? Where he ranks in the Sens pool doesn't affect what his value is. He's a really strong C prospect, and while he probably ends up as the 3C In Ottawa, he's still got some real top 6 upside. He's a really valuable piece, and Matt Dumba isn't worth him and a top 10 pick.
Also besides Jake Sanderson, everyone ahead of Pinto on the prospect pool (Batherson, Norris, Brannstrom Stützle) have all graduated. So he's really more like their 2nd or 3rd best prospect.</div></div>
I’ve said this before but if you’re expecting a top 10 pick in 2022, what are you doing? Do you want to start winning the year after? I get that there has been some mismanagement but that top 6 looks like it will be special sooner rather than later. The back end is where you need help and by deferring the pick a year, having Dumba should make that pick less valuable.
End of the day, bet on yourself and that’s the base of this deal. I’m fine haggling over Pinto but a 1st and a decent prospect should be the ask. It’s pretty reasonable for a RHD in his prime.

My post was pointing out that it's pointless to try to have a discussion in good faith about the very realistic chance that Eichel could be traded, because your counter-offer is as ridiculous as all the offers you claim are complete garbage, such as the offer in the OP.
I get that you don't want to trade him, but if you're just going to make horrible counter offers instead of trying to find a deal that works for both sides, there is no point in talking to you. Do you disagree?

Look what 5.9m Schmidt got Vegas last year....a third round pick.</div></div>
The UFA D market is not great next year and Schmidt was a pure cap dump that had to be done immediately. I think the Wild should rightly expect a 1st in return, along with a decent prospect. Pinto may be too much if you think that 2022 1st is gonna be top 15.

They need to be at least thinking about a playoff spot next season so a 2022 1st seems reasonable as an ask. It’ll likely be a worse pick than 2021 and the Wild have to wait that much longer for the return.
