A young mobile d man in nurse a true number one centre in drai I wouldn't trade at all especially for s older declining d man in weber an a absolute garbage contract in price I'd rather keep lucic then that

Oilers with Tavares just for funsies
If JT will sign with the Oilers and we have to move Lucic to clear salary...I kinda think it's a no brainer to make that deal. However, because of salary we still might have to trade RNH and we could probably get a 1st back anyway.
You have to think of it this way:
Lucic + 1st and a 2nd to Buffalo
Edmonton gets a prospect and signs JT. I think JT is worth that easily lol.

I agree if he can translate to wing which should be easier for him but he's always been use to centre an Montreal needs one bad the way I look at it is why not get two good wingers for Edmonton let strome take over 3rd line centre where he likes playing more and draft a guy like boqvist an develop him into our puck moving d man

Develop from within like the good teams do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Scott</b></div><div>Right now all we are missing on defence is a top 4 puck moving RHD. Nurse and Larsson are an excellent shutdown pair? Why would we write off Klefbom and Talbot when they have both struggled with some injuries this year after how good they both were last year? Sekera and Russell provide their trade lists next summer, so we move them then. At that point we evaluate our defence including Jones and Bear who are both puck moving D who are trending up. Bear may become that top 4 puck moving RHD, but if not we can trade for one in the summer 2019 when we have the cap space from trading Sekera and Russell. Either way we won't be winning the cup in 2018-2019... Also we have some good goalies in the pipeline in Broissoit 24yo Ellis 24yo and Starrett 23yo.</div></div>
If they want a defensemen like that, why take Tkachuk when Evan Bouchard might be available? He has been playing great. I know it does not necessary help right away but it will help in the future. I agree with everything else that you said. However, I would switch RNH and Draisaitl in your lines, at least for a while. i also think it might be nice to get an experienced guy to help lead the team. I am not sure who...

Blown up roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Scott</b></div><div>Agree with everything you said, except I expect Yamamoto to be ready for the NHL next year. He was close this year. He didn't put up points in his 9 games, but he created chances, didn't give up too many chances, was smart about his size, and had a good corsi.</div></div>
His stint in the NHL killed a lot of his confidence for when he was initially sent back to Spokane, and it dragged on into the WJCs. He's only now began ripping the WHL apart again. Kid's averaging like >2ppg it's nuts. If he wasn't going to be AHL eligible next year I'd have him on the big club, but he will be, so I see no harm in giving him an extra year to earn an NHL paycheque.

Fixing the Blackhawks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Scott</b></div><div>To fix the blackhawks you need out of the Seabrook and Toews contracts or they need to regain their form. You also need better D than Jordan Oesterle or has he improved? He was like #8 or #9 on Edmontons depth chart.</div></div> No way either contract is being moved, so the hope is that Toews will have a Kopitar-like resurgence and Seabrook just play somewhat decently in a sheltered, third-pairing role. Oesterle has shown flashes of being a good puck-moving defenseman (he’s playing on the top pair with Keith now lol), but yeah, we need a prospect or two to come in and help stabilize the defense. Best options are Jokiharju and Forsling, with Tuulola thrown in as a maybe.

I take it you just randomly picked teams to get a pick from as the Avs would have zero interest in Schlemko and can't see Anaheim wanting another D. Also don't see Florida making that trade. Edmonton need RHD not LHD. Winnipeg trade is also pretty doubtful.

OEL Trade and Domi swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Scott</b></div><div>Puljujarvi is 19 years old, is dicked around by the coaching staff, usually playing under 10 minutes on the 3rd and 4th line, with next to know PP time despite having the best shot on the team. Todd McLellan has no idea how develop young players and how to coach anyone but veterans. Despite all of this, Puljujarvi is scoring at an 18 goal pace. You double his minutes on a top line and he will be a 30+ goal scorer with good two way ability. I think the Oilers are more short on winger depth than defence, so I can't see them trading Pulj or Yamamoto (who is also trending to be a good NHL winger, he is scoring at a top 5 pace in junior).</div></div>
Fair enough - have not watched enough of the Oilers to analyze Pulju's deployment by McL, but have seen similar sounding situations with Ho-Sang by Weight in NY, Duclair/Buchnevich by AV in NY, and Burakovsky/Vrana by Trotz in WSH. Tough to watch such talent get limited in favor of vets with bigger contracts.

Wings with Tavares
Tavares is too old build around and Detroit is too far away from being even close to a contender pretend he's the answer.
I'm 100% convinced the only teams that have a shot to win the Cup are teams that draft their core (or acquire young impact players 23-years-old or younger) - and that core has to be drafted or obtained within a 4-5 year window.
Detroit is going to have to bottom feed for 5 years and build through the draft...... But Holland knows that - that's why he just traded Tatar for 3 picks (good deal too)... He was dumb for not dealing Green for anything tho - well, unless what he was being offered due to Green's injury would damage his reputation as a GM - I could understand that.

18/19 Oilers a Playoff Team Again?
With how bad the Rangers are, doubt he'll waive it. Especially since he signed with EDM because he wanted to play with McDavid. Even though it hasn't played out that way, I think Lucic will be happier in EDM for the time being

Is this a playoff team? Give your opinion.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Scott</b></div><div>Yes, but I think it has holes, is only a fringe NHL team, and won't go very far. A championship team looks like this in my opinion:
Top 6 forwards average 25-30 goals each
Bottom 6 forwards average 10 goals each
6 defence average 5 goals each
total = 240-280 goals
To put that in perspective, last season 240 goals was good for 9th place in GF, 278 goals was good for first in GF. Any guess who scored 278 goals? Yup, the Pens.
RNH has never scored more than 24 goals in a season, but we haven't seen his ceiling yet, he is on a 28.5 goal pace this season with bad line mates in a checking center role while co-leading the team with only 4 ppg. The Oilers pp is a joke, and RNH is only the second unit for some reason. Anyways, I think you could leave him in 2c for 25-30 goals. I don't know Voracek and Nyquist as well. But Voracek hasn't scored more than 23 goals and Nyquist hasn't has a good year in 3 years and are overpaid so I look to trade them. Make a trade around Voracek and Nyquist and Martin for Gallagher and Jordie Benn, Gallagher has the potential to score 25+ goals with a good center like Tavares and the Canadiens are looking to switch things up. Jordie Benn saves you another 3m in cap. Sign free agent James Neal for 2RW. Sign free Agent Evander Kane or JVR for 2LW.
Your bottom 6 is comprised of veterans capable of no secondary scoring, or rookies who haven't even played in the league before. Adding a 2LW would help with bottom 6 scoring by pushing Marleau down. Bring in a new 4C like free agent Mark Letestu who can score over 10 goals. Hope that the rookies develop nicely.
Thanks for that, I had fun!</div></div>
Your welcome I like doing these and seeing what people's reactions are. I just throw a whole bunch of random players together and let people analyze it.

Edmonton 2019
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Scott</b></div><div>Im not bullish on any team with Lucic in the top 6. Yamamoto is a right winger, so idk why we would trade RNH who can play center or LW and put up 20-30 goals for 2 extra RW when Yams and Puljujarvi are both trending to be 20+ goal scorers themselves, maybe 30+ if we are lucky. I think this could make playoffs but not be a contender. Plus I'd be worried about Weber and Price's play falling off when they are nearing 40 years old.</div></div>
Webers contract is "Retirement friendly" for the player, the original team who signed the deal with him (Nashville) would be on the hook for the cap hit and expenses. If he started to play like absolute dogshit in the back end of his deal it wouldn't be a massive problem to the Oilers capwise.
I'm not too familiar with the Price deal but I think it's bonus laden and buyout proof similar to the McDavid and Eichel deals.
