Ah yes, yet another Gibson hater. Ignore the fact that he was good enough to get the invite to the all-star game last year. Ignore the fact that he walked into the all-star break rocking a 0.922 SV% and a 2.49 GAA. Ignore the fact that he is a genuinely great goalie who has been dragging a half competitive team at best through 50 games a year.
But please, continue to tell us how "washed up" he is. Those of us who watch him play know the reality that is not visible to a keyboard cowboy looking at internet stat blocks.

DevilsLeafs trade
Including Sharangovich here makes it way too lopsided in the Leafs favour.
Wouldn't want to include Shango in any deal for two years of Nylander, think that'd be a big mistake.
If the Leafs for some reason feel like moving Nylander is the right idea (I don't but let's just go with it), using Severson as a base seems pretty reasonable, with the Devils adding secondary pieces to meet fair value.
I think Severson + a 2nd + Foote pretty much meets fair value for Nylander.
Not sure the Devils can take Holl back here however, they don't have as much cap space rn as they usually do.

Willy has actually put up some decent playoff numbers last couple of seasons, but he does have moments where he seems hesitant to take a hit to make a play. Then other times he’s throwing a hit and producing turnovers.
All in all I think this is a good hockey trade and does fill needs for both teams.

Yeah I don't hate this from either side. Seems tough to part ways with both players going the other way but when you look at the return, it makes sense in a way for both sides.

Just a baseline. I feel that Rango is a Gourde type player</div></div>
Looking for the leadership and playoff experience in gourde as well as the potential in geekie as a middle 6.
And I’d rather see Willy in the west.

Thought on Gaudreau signing in Columbus
I really think Gaudreau wanted to be out of the limelight.
In Calgary, he's the most famous Calgarian.
In PHI and even NJ he's the hometown kid.
Columbus has passionate fans, but it's not a fishbowl. He can just play hockey there.

I'm kinda surprised that he signed with CBJ. Jersey has better centres. But don't worry, just spend that 9.5m you had allotted for JG and spend it wisely. Don't know if 6m X 5 years for 31 Palat is a wise long term choice.

Thought on Gaudreau signing in Columbus
I believe Kent Johnson was #13 in Columbus and gave his number to Gaudreau even though Gaudreau said he could keep it
I think the main reason he didn’t sign with NJ is because he grew up a Philly fan which means he didn’t like the Devils growing up. If I was offered contracts with similar AAV from the Rangers, Islanders, and Bruins, I would be more inclined to sign with Boston

Bull****. Slaf was the guy sure, Fitz was surprised sure. No plan is not the case, cmon, think that through.
Did it limit his moves, probably. Having established Cs already made it an odd fit and other teams just below them didn't need to do anything. To move out of a position to get a player of that value has a leash that is only so long. We should all be happy with the pick, Luke will have a great d partner for years!

DeBrincat is small like Gaudreau, but it hasn't stopped him from scoring a boat-load of goals. If he isn't super expensive to resign, he's definitely worth it because he's one of the few guys on this list who will surely significantly improve the team. Pastrnak is definitely number one on the list but DeBrincat is number two probably.

Now it's too much for Matthew Tkachuk, the exact player Devils fans are drooling about ( Heavier skill)?</div></div>
I'm of the opinion that there is almost no trade worth it for 2oa. Swap out Holtz and Smith for say, Zacha and Muk and we might be talking, but if Gaudreau isn't a Flame come fall, five bucks says he's a Devil, and if the Devils are waiting for UFA to court Gaudreau, that would mean 2oa is off the table.
If Gaudreau extended with Calgary in the coming days, I would consider a trade for Tkachuk or Debrincat. I'm very heavily inclined to just make the pick, since any one of Wright, Slafkovsky, Cooley, and Jiricek panning out would be worth it.

Cat is a elite franchise level young player and the #2OA is only a chance at getting that.
LOL, not a chance the Hawks trade Cat for Cooley or Wright....zero chance. These guys aren't Kane or McDavid or Matthews predraft</div></div>
If they were Kane, McDavid or Matthews, do you think we would even be having this discussion? There is no reason to think the #2 pick is in play at all. It’s all been speculation at this point.
Nothing about Debrincat-to-NJD-for-[yikes] makes sense. Chicago will want the assets to focus their rebuild around, which NJD is not giving up. He does not fit our on-ice needs at all. And there are tons of options for NJD. Lastly, if the Devils did make a big splash trade, it would more likely happen after the 2022 draft (and after 2022 free agency opens up).

Yeah, hence the 's' at the end. Futures. Multiple. Debrincat is better, younger, and has more control than Fiala. Also consider the fact that Minnesota wasnt going to be able to afford to re-sign so they HAD to trade him, where as the Hawks dont. Hawks are going to get a larger return.
