Do we see NYR giving up that

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CantStopWontStop</b></div><div>I believe the trade cost of Tarasenko could be very low. Effectively free without retention:
He forced a full no trade during the off-season. He’s going to want term to waive.
If any team approaches with an extension, then that’s the only team he would waive for. His agents will have spoken with literally every viable team just this last off season, twice. Two seperate agents.
If a player only waives for one team, their value is the lowest possible. The only way I see tarasenkos trade value increase are if multiple teams are interested in offering him a 3 or 4 year contract. I think, with the cap going up, it is most likely a team will be interested in giving him 3-4 years. Ottawa should truly be happy with whatever they get if a freshly signed player has a full no trade and waives for just one team.
Ottawa -could- find a deal where they retain and get a 1st, but if that team has no interest in keeping Tarasenko then I doubt Tarasenko has interest going there versus a team who wants him for a few years.</div></div>
Last year, Tarasenko allowed his NTC to be waived to just 3 teams.
The Rangers, the Islanders, the Devils.
Let's assume Tarasenko only allows a trade to 3 specific teams this year.
Would Ottawa still be able to get a 1st for Tarasenko ?
Of course, it would depend on what those 3 teams are.

I’d say fair deal. But I like it a bit more for the Canucks. Also the whole thing about Lindholm being an Allstar even after getting traded, in other words the same as Horvat but reversed, is hilarious

I think its really funny that the narrative around Lindholm at the all star game will be that he got traded when the exact same thing happened last year with Horvat.

This trade had a lot of quantity, but quality wise it isn’t a whole lot more than we got for Horvat
The 1st round pick is potentially in the late 20s to 30s compared to the 2023 pick which was on the early teens at the time of the trade. Kuzmenko’s value is at an all time low and probably not worth much more than Beauvillier as they are both kind of a cap match. Raty is a bit more valuable than Brz and Jurmo and the 4th are kinda just there

Jurmo and the 4th are random add ins but really not worth much. Quantity wise it’s kind of a lot but we managed to not trade away any of our true top prospects at least

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LeafsFanForSomeReason</b></div><div>Flames say they had no knowledge of the pending charges against Dube when they released the statement about his leave of absence being mental health related.

I think the criticism of Flames on this is unwarranted.
If anything it should be on Dube and his agent.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ricochetii</b></div><div>This.
It's dangerous to question a person's mental health and make assumptions that they are being dubious in their claims.
You have to accept it at face value and allow them to seek treatment.
He isn't necessarily misrepresenting himself.
You can have mental health issues and legal issues at the same time, likely related given the timing.</div></div>
Agree with this, the player is responsible for "requesting the leave" and submitting his reasons; the team is bound by the CBA to either grant it or deny it and face possible legal ramifications as his employer.
If an employee at my company submits a leave request; they don't have to provide details (it's not our business) unless they are asking for specific assistance.
You can't allow for "Mental Health Leave" or any Leave and then say the answers should be publicly stated.
I'm sure the Flames had their suspicions and possibly even some knowledge of the investigation and were more than happy to grant his leave when it was requested; but they can't make up his reasons for him.
For all we know he was ready to harm himself if he wasn't granted the leave away from the team.
All of the vitriol for this infesting the NHL is on Hockey Canada for covering it up years ago and on the perpetrators.

(PIT/MIN) - Butcher for Cajkovic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sharkie69</b></div><div>What happened to Butcher, didn’t he used to be good?</div></div>
He had a solid NCAA career and great rookie year, but was always somewhat limited as a power play specialist. The old system in NJD with Hynes covered him up in d-zone. It had dmen staying close to home, wingers roaming, centers down low. The new system, under Lindy, asks dmen to leave net front often and dig puck out of corners (wings along the wall, centers roaming)…and with all that movement, Butcher fell apart. He is quite slow.
I know Minnesota need a PP qb at one point, so maybe returning to play with Hynes gets him another shot. But probably more of AHL/depth piece.
