Horrific UFA contracts. You also have no goalies

What would it take Buffalo fans
Sabres dont need Garland, more prospects, or a bottom 6 forward for one of their top offensive prospects. They arent going to donate their prospects to other teams just because they have a surplus. Hronek isnt a fit at all in Buffalo

Statistically the Sabres win, but multiple other factors make it less desirable

Or sign a local kid who is the greatest American hockey player in history, for half the cap hit and have some money left over to fill out the roster

Buffalo would be delusional to say no to that trade</div></div>
Hes so good, Toronto fans are dying to get rid of him. The Sabres dont have infinite cap either. His cap would hinder upgrades anywhere else

No, Tavares will be 34 making 11 mill, coming off his worst season. Hes a declining, depreciating asset that would be making 11 mill on the Sabres 3rd line, and doesnt offer anything the Sabres are missing, hes not physical and not good defensively and hes clearly not a good leader. The only reason i want him is because his uncle is a Buffalo legend

Who puts up the same amount of points and is terrible at faceoffs.</div></div>
Whos that? Krebs aint making 2 mill. They can get the same production out of UFAs with much better contracts or bring up Kulich

The Sabres will be paying Dahlin 11 mill. They also had Eichel and struggled. They also have more higher value contracts than Toronto

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brauny04</b></div><div>Leafs wouldn’t take this in a million years. Good teams have elite forwards. I’d give up Skinner and Clifton for free due to contracts. So you’re getting Marner for a pick and unproven prospect. He’d instantly become the best forward in our team. $11.5m for a consistent point a game player is nothing</div></div>
Clifton is fine for his contract, and the Sabres have enough top 6 forwards without Skinner. 70% of Marners points come from assists, take Matthews away hes not going to be a consistent ppg player. That contract will be an embarrassment pretty quickly. Hes also consistent at dissappearing in the playoffs. They also just dont have the cap space for 2 players making 11 mill, a lesson taught to us all by the Maple Leafs and why Marner is theoretically available
