Dominik Simon Defense Team
And Reese has been great with geno and phil and theyve been better with him. Reese is also defensive which is good because most people think to have a defensive winger play with those two or kessel. Not that mccanns defense isnt just as good but reese already has established chemistry.

Yes a lot of sources are reporting this. But i dont think Montour costs this much. So think less than whatever you're thinking. And then think even less than that because Anaheims new coach doesnt play him a lot at all which hurts his value.
By the way, ever since we took pettersson and anaheim got a new coach who diminished montours ice time. Gibson and the team have been way worse. So i think that says something. While murrays stats were bad at the beginning of the year and now theyre up with pettersson.

Deadline Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skillet0515</b></div><div>yeah Pittsburgh offense is good and just needs to figure it out but I think Ferland gives them another dimension that Simon doesn't really bring. Simon is great with Crosby put Ferland adds a little more grittiness to the line and can put the puck in the net. and I could've added a 2nd rd pick as well</div></div>
I still think they will get Ferland, as it was last reported that 2-3 teams were still in the mix with Penguins being most active (before the FLA trade, FWIW) Actually kinda surprised that it hasn't happened yet, unless GMJR is refusing to give up the 1st for him, idk!! Maybe switch Jarry with Maatta? I like that you are bringing a dman in with Maatta going out, so maybe Carolina would feel the same way. Maatta, Simon & a first seems fair for the remainder of this season of Ferland and TVR for another year. Carolina gets two young players and their 1st they want for Ferland.

definitely a heavy package but I am not sure that gets us TVR as well. Truthfully, I think I would rather TVR than Ferland. This offense can get it done if they figure it out. The defense however gives me night terrors. I would offer Simon & the 1st for him.

Pens Trade Deadline
Ferland will be a straight rental but the Pens need some toughness. If you lose Simon who cares really. He doesn't have a spot in the top 9 when everyone's healthy and won't next season either unless he becomes a 3rd line center which isn't likely.
Blueger is much more likely to be successful in a bottom 6 role as a center.
Blandisi was brought in for some grit but i don't see him being a regular in the lineup this year or next year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Skillet0515</b></div><div>the thing about Ferland is that Pittsburgh won't have the money to resign him and they have a few options in Blandisi and Teddy Blueger to take those spots</div></div>
Im not counting on those two though, hopefully they could be nice surprises. Im more interested in Almeida, Pavlychev and Bellerive as far as our younger talent on the way up and maybe some others. Those guys are mostly too young to be given a chance while the guys youre naming might not be as impactful as simon or other cheap bottom line players like haula or virtanen or markus granlund.

Going Forward
Love the Pujju trade ... could be a steal... id throw dude on Genos wing and see what he had 1st.
- Bennett is a great bottom 6 guy, love his game but he isnt a C... he is strictly a LW
- Ferland deal seems fair but dont see GMJR trading a guy he has wrapped up for next yr too at a nothing cap hit

Just throwing this out there
I can't see Pens wanting to add another dman and add a RW and stuff.. I think a LW and C is what they want. I think that Devils trade is the one here that makes sense, but, its hard to get those intradivision trades through.

I think that is a bit off on value for the Devils trade, but a foundation of something that could work. Not really interested in Jarry. I think Zacha would do well in Pitt too. He is inconsistent as all hell, except his defense great PKer.

according to multiple people who know nothing about the Pens they want to roll 40 year old Kunitz out onto the ice in a wheel chair and hope Malkin or Crosby can drag them across the ice with a rope.

Pens had 2 pairings of both LD in their 2017 cup run. Dumolin-Hainsey and Maatta-Daley. Also Oleksiak-Cole was playing very well before Cole was traded.

Yep. Marc Bergevin will overpay for Letang, the Canadiens and Letang underachieve, the Penguins and Galchenyuk win a Stanley Cup, and Bergevin gets fired.

His numbers are as good as Hanifins plus he has playoff experience and is going to be cheaper long term. If you're already giving them rights to Jarry I really don't think that they need to give up much more than that. No way would I give up a first round pick just for his rights.</div></div>
Trading away Määttä is an instant fail and worsens the defense. Let me know how camping in the defense zone every game going forward wins games.

Karlsson wants out and Letang is hurting Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh is looking to retool the team to get as many cups out of the Crosby/Malkin era which is something they couldn't do in the Lemieux/Jagr era</div></div>
I am currently liking the idea of a Pittsburgh/Ottawa trade. Pittsburgh won the trade with Brassard despite Brassard playing or being injured in postseason play. I do not know if Jim Rutherford and Pierre Dorion have discussed Letang and Karlsson.

If Ottawa adds a prospect or a draft pick with Karlsson, I would make the deal.

Any team who finds Letang better than any defensemen it currently has will buy into Letang.
I would expect Letang and ran through prospects to move in a salary exchange trade.
Letang had the 2017-2018 season to return to form. He did not return to form. The Penguins need to move on.
