If you look at the long term outlook there will be approx 13 mil in cap space to re-sign the 3 RFA's and sign or replace 3 UFA's. Barzal is going to be 6-7 million, Pulock and Toews 5-6 million at least, so yeah with replacing the UFA's as well it's going to take at least 20 million of cap space next year. I'm guessing you want to stick it to Toronto by signing Marner, but the best way to stick it to Toronto is to not be Toronto.

trouba to the island ehlers to new jersey
I'd happily trade Bode Wilde in a package for Trouba, but not Pulock. His stock is on the rise and will be a mainstay for this team.

New York Islanders signed Brock Nelson (6 Years / $6,000,000 AAV)
I think this is a totally fair deal. Under Trotz, his game at both ends grew considerably. No way he would have gotten anything less (dollars or term) on the open market.

New York Islanders signed Brock Nelson (6 Years / $6,000,000 AAV)
My first thought was that's a lot, but looking at his last 3 years of production he's there in production with guys like Statsny, Galchenyuk and Henrique to name a few. He's an average #2C, but would be a great #3C on a deep team. Seems like a fair deal all around.

I bet lots of people won't like this singing, but I think it's great. He's been a consistent player who can put the puck in the back of the net. Fair term and AAV. Good singing.

Leafs and Wild Trades
Actually the Leafs trade makes sense for the Leafs and the Isles. Leafs shed cap but trade two good NHLers for one RHD (a position of need) and two futures. Leafs think they can fill their two forward position with Marlies. For cap reasons the Leafs would prefer if Komarov was left out of the deal . The Isles do get an immediate help up front.
Maybe it's just me, I don't think Skinner is worth of such big money, better ways to spend it. Maybe the Isles are better to keep Leddy to solidify the defence. But some good thoughts overall on the post.

This might have something to do with why Toronto fans thought they'd be on their way to breaking the streak. Oh how wrong they were

Deals with LA NYI
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>If you’re that high on pulock I wouldn’t make the deal. Personally I would rather have mayfield with our cap situation.</div></div>
I'd be fine with that too, I've made a couple posts on that exact framework. Makes sense, but from NYI's perspective: Pulock > Mayfield in terms of upside which is why his price would be so high. The original post made here just doesn't address NYI's needs

Deals with LA NYI
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>I could certainly understand that but it’s not an unfair offer. The islanders could very well be the Devils of this season.</div></div>
And if, IF that winds up being the case (which I strongly do not see happening - based on the foundation NYI now has) they STILL wouldn't trade a blue chip piece that is in their best interest to keep for the future. Pulock involves Nylander or it's a non-starter

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nchest</b></div><div>Cup Champions LOL!!!! It is a decent looking team until you get to the D and goalies. Good luck with that.
Stone and Duchene both get the Sens a 1st and a decent prospect. So maybe take Aho out for Dobson and change the 2 2nds to a first</div></div>
If you think the defense and goaltending is an Achilles heel of the Islanders I suggest you come out from under your rock and check NHL.com FAST
