I think he's gonna be top 10 in save % and GAA next season w/ the NYI. He's been streaky at times in his career, but he's never played behind as good of a D as the Islanders.

Normally I'd just say "allegedly, we don't really know what happened since none of us were there." Especially if the guy who was accused wound up paying some money or something to settle the case. However, considering that his girlfriend wound up being ordered by the court to pay him upwards of $100k, I'm going to go ahead and say it was most likely a baseless accusation.

This is the price you have to pay for a 2nd line center. It is probably a year or two too long and about 500k-750k too much, but it's better than the front office sitting on their hands waiting for the prospects to grow and become relevant. This team has a window now and this signing improves their chances. If you spend too much time looking for the long term, you never look at the short term. Hayes is a solid all-around player that will slot in well alongside players like Jake Voracek, Oskar Lindblom, and James vanRiemsdyk. No Flyer fan is going to loose sleep over this contract if he helps us go deep into the playoffs.</div></div>
While I do agree that it's better to attack now and get the guy that you think can put your team over the top, for a team sitting on Morgan Frost and with Nolan Patrick on the rise, I don't see where overpaying for a 2C makes a lot of sense. But this "window" you said that this team has is kinda blurry. You've got a stacked prospect pipeline and the best young goalie in the game with Hart. While Giroux and Jake aren't getting any younger, there are plenty of youngsters that are ready too take this team to the next level down the road. Being aggressive here is what ends up biting you in the ass when you need to dish out big contracts to the youngsters that are making the difference.
Yes, he's a great fit for them for the next few years. I expect the Flyers to make the playoffs next year. But at some point, you gotta let the kids play. Dallas learned that this year, and they let guys like Roope Hintz be the difference between one goal away from knocking out the eventual Cup champs and missing the playoffs altogether.

Almost 50 years old and you want to come off sounding like a snot-nosed ignorant teenager?</div></div>
Nothing muddled about my math. We are perfectly fine with the cap. The "you guys can't afford him" when we are sitting at 25 million in cap space was the most idiotic thing that started it all. It is just a really stupid comment that deserved any and all retorts. No one knows who else we are going to sign, including you. Or whether we trade Leddy or sign a couple of one year deals that will open up more space (Flip, etc)...absolutely ignorant to make that claim this early in the offseason

I think so, yes. If a winger is what Isles need is then this looks to be a match made in heaven. Both players satisfy exactly what each other teams need is. Solid 1 for 1's rarely happen but this one IMO has tons of merit to it. In this case it would be a solid win win for both teams.

Mayfield is a pretty good return for Kapanen. I'd hate to see Kapanen go but I think Mayfield has the size the leafs need, and is a right shot defense-men. I think this is pretty fair, and the 3rd sweetens the deal.
