trying to fix the blues

Two first round picks and one of Nashville's top prospects is certainly worth it for a struggling and pending UFA Petro

My logic is that some team is gonna need a centre, and would be willing to overpay in a deadline-like deal

He's not really a top 4 defenseman, but I couldn't find any former devils worth picking up tbh, although there is Adam Larsson (yikes)

Schneider
I don't hate the trade, but with CS' struggles the second round pick is a little much on top of the much needed Frolik

adding considerable depth in FA
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Carterman13</b></div><div>Why would the blues want to give up a draft pick for an older defenseman when they are in a rebuild</div></div>
Decent replacement for Jay Bouwmeester, certainly not ideal for the blues, but I don’t think that anyone’s gonna bite on getting a big piece from the blues this season so I doubt the blues are ready to rebuild completely

Fixing the doomed ducks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jah1722</b></div><div>Kesler is finally able to skate again. His pace has picked up. He’ll play thru the end of his contract. Also 3 years of Manson >> 1 of Pietrangelo who’s having an awful season. And that’s just your trades. You signed a bunch if 4th liners and 7-8 Dmen and declared them the savior. You have the ducks best winger on the 4th line and paid a hefty price for a back up goalie might get 20 games.</div></div>
Silfverberg is the ducks best winger imo, and should bolster up the line with Lundestrom and Sorensen. Sorensen has fairly good production this season within the Sharks’ bottom six, which is a result of his great speed and hands, which would hopefully go well alongside Silfverberg’s speed and shot. Brandon Tanev is more of a chippy player, but has good production as well, he’d essentially be the Zach Hyman to Adam Henrique’s Auston Matthews. I worked this around the assumption that Pietrangelo would sign an extension and return to the reliable top 2 dman form that he’s known for. Chris wideman offers a little more stability and a two way presence alongside the rookie in Jacob Larson. Koskinen will play about 30 games in order to keep John Gibson well rested and healthy

I like Manson, but I feel like his value is being exaggerated here. Manson is a top 4 defenseman but certainly isn’t worth the leafs first round pick, a good potential nhler AND their best prospect

Fixing the doomed ducks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Ducks problem isn't seem of mid range cap guys. It's Perry, maybe Henrique and even Fowler. Why not just keep the cheaper and younger Manson instead of trading for soon to be UFA Pietrangelo.</div></div>
Perry is probably the least movable contract on the team, so I threw that idea out of the window. Henrique is good and fairly young for the ducks at 28/29. Fowler is a good top four dman and trading him would make little sense unless you try to get value for Perry.

Fixing the doomed ducks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jah1722</b></div><div>So Kesler has played basically all season but he magically ends up on LTIR next season? Also you’re not trading years of control on Manson for basically one season of Pietrangelo[/
I was very surprised at the amount of games that Kesler was playing, but his style of play has worn down his body and his play this season has reflected that, it’s not all that unlikely that he doesn’t play after this season. Manson is good, but Pietrangelo is far better, I think that it’s worth it to have Pietrangelo for a short period of time than hold back some good prospects like Marura</div></div>

Definitely a huge risk, but cap limitations really hurt my ability to sign someone like Varlamov or Bobrovsky, and Desmith & Mac were the best affordable options.

Gonna go and edit that now, just wasn't sure about his value since he hasn't been an NHL regular.

Based off of the current season (18-19), both DeSmith and Mac have been quite good and are pulling the weight of the poor performances of their teams' starters.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>I don't like the Edmonton trade from a canes standpoint, you can get more for TvR and more for Helvig, I also think Montreal should be giving up a 1st and 4th for Fleury.... he's been great at the NHL level and he was a 1st rounder, he's still growing</div></div>
I wasn't too sure about Fleury, seeing as he has far less NHL experience than those picked after him in the top ten. TVR is mainly a third pairing Dman, so I just assumed that a third round round pick was fair value.

Fixing the Canes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>So your idea of fixing them is trading a high quality 23 year old RD signed for 6 years below market value and a 3rd for a worse defenseman and a 4th?
Your hockey IQ and a puck have a lot in common.
On top of that the team is pretty much guaranteed to lose money now, something owners don’t like and tend to fire the person responsible for that.
And you are 2 players short so you are over the cap.</div></div>
This is easily the worst Armchair GM I’ve done, which is because I wasn’t going into it thinking it was a serious thing, notice that have two inconsistent goaltenders replacing two inconsistent goaltenders. Taking jabs at my IQ over this is quite funny. I’ll attempt to do a more realistic Armchair GM mode with the canes if you’d want to check it out.

Yes, this is a joke. It’s kinda insane to see some of the reactions to this, people get really serious with it
