Question marks? landy/Rant sharing Center got us a Cup. Granted Meyers is an all around question mark but Mac/Landy/Rant/Helm were all C for us to the cup. Milano supposedly is a C also so third line could end up with 2. And again totally understand your side of this. I don't want this. I don't like this but in the end. this is where the money could be leading. Big Ugh I know.
But again Hubby and Mac and Nuke on the same line with Landy and Rant plugging in. OMG how much fun could that be.

Yes agreed. Shooting for another cup. Question in my mind right now is do the Avs have what it takes to make a complete run again. With the looses they sustain do they have the guns to make the complete run. Not certain. This would do it but at what cost. Like my last comment. Don't want this. Was a test fit and I'm not liking it.
By the By. Most of my posts are for me to review over the week and think of the reasons why not to do it.

Yeah I agree. Avs are painted in a corner with this one. I'm just test fitting. Wanted to see what it would look like. Not pretty. Like I said. I wouldn't do it but like most of my posts just a test fit.

Calgary is getting:
1) A possible 2C - Newhook - 33 pts while playing part time and 3C. He is on the cusp. Colorado needs a 2C
2) Sam G - top 2 D at a bargain price of 5M over the long term. Worst case he is a 2D at a team friendly salary.
3) PP 3C at 3.5mil in JT
4) 2023 draft is stock full of talent. Even a bottom 1st is worth more then same in the last 2 drafts. Colorado got Barron a possible top 4 at the same level.
5) A 2nd. Again stock full of talent 2025.
6) 3rd - Every needs AHL player but again it's possible to get a Goalie or depth player.
By the way Screw Calgary "Depth" should not be mentioned when talking about Girard and Newhook.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xqb15a</b></div><div>This isn’t a master class it’s a disaster. In one year 7 open forward spots including ALL centers, 3 dmen including a top 3 one.</div></div>
It's not a disaster as this year proved. MAC, Newie, Byram get their extension. then you figure out who else can stay. Your going to run into issues the next few year anyway. All you can do is try to win now. Window closing fast. You have 7 D currently on this roster. If you trade McD then you can bring up Macdonald/Dannie. Otherwise this is it.
I would rather have this fire power and will to win on the roster.

Retool 24
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>turtlemountain</b></div><div>No, Avs decline. This is an overpay and they can’t afford to re-sign him. You have $29M in cap space next summer, which sounds like a lot but you need to re-sign:
- MacKinnon - 10.5
- Miller 7
- Jarnkrok (or a player for a similar role) - No resign
- Meyers (RFA)
- Newhook (RFA) - 3.5(RFA money)
- Kaut (RFA) - 850K
- Byram (RFA)(again rfa money 4.5
- A starting goalie 3.5
Can work if the players take length vs up front money. Mac can go higher but he take the chance of leaving no room for support and he never sees another cup. When it comes down Miller can leave and yes it hurts but he is another landy player so around 7 can work. Goalies as seen so far should never get paid alot. I go with a cheaper solution.</div></div>

To all the canes fans. Necas is a good kid. He puts up the same states as JT. JT now has cup winning experience. Necas plays well and his stats are inflated because he plays on a high scoring team. I've watch him. He is a good player but he isn't a Aho. He isn't worth a 1st rnd pick. I could go 2nd rnd. The Canes need a grittier player that performs in the playoffs. Look at their playoff stats. JT is a win. If I didn't need the money I wouldn't trade JT.

Just that they are potentially Elite players but they aren't elite players. makar undress Cozens and krebs hasn't show he can be more then a middle player. Yes Buffalo has 2 1st pairing D man but they don't have a Offensive play Girard has.

I disagree. The chance to get a PP QB plus a 1st pairing D man is worth to prospects. Not to mention a long term 5 mil contract for a D man these days is too juicy to pass up. If the AVs didn't have makar, Teows, Byrum we would even go this way.

I disagree. People want to end their careers on winners. Pitts is not a Cup team. Avs are. The chance to play with a Makar will make him take the chance for a cup.

You're asking that the Hawks move a young player for an older player on a higher salary while the hawks are rebuilding. As you pointed out, that's a salary dump, and the only way the Hawks do that is if a pick or prospect comes along with Compher. The Hawks aren't going to help other teams out of their salary cap issues just to be nice. They're gonna want something in return for that.</div></div>
I don't disagree. If the AVS have to sweeten the pot it could happen. I chose hardman because he fit the profile. Compher bring certain positive factors to the Hawks. Intangibles. He is a bulldog, a glue guy. His cap hit is short lived but Avs can't afford the money for the time. If they dont' get hardman they get another just like him on another team.

How ridiculous is LV now LTIR freaks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Spyeye</b></div><div>Apparently Sports writer agrees with me. They bought themselves 12Million in Cap relief and made the salary cap a joke...again.....TB is to blame but LV is just making it ridiculous. See evidence below:
"The Montreal Canadiens and Golden Knights combined for a fascinating trade on Thursday. The short version is that Evgenii Dadonov goes to the Canadiens in the trade, while Shea Weber‘s contract (LTIR-bound) buys the Golden Knights serious salary cap relief."</div></div>
"It’s easiest to see the logic of the Dadonov – Weber trade from the Golden Knights’ side.
Most pressingly, the Golden Knights get out of that $5M Dadonov salary cap hit.
They conceivably heighten their salary cap relief with Shea Weber’s contract. The 36-year-old’s cap hit is about $7.857M per year through 2025-26.
Put that cap hit on LTIR, and it’s almost $8M in space. So, really, this trade is kind of sort of a near-$13M salary cap swing for the Golden Knights.
Weber’s actual cost is also lower than his cap hit.
In 2022-23, he’s owed a $3M signing bonus (likely already paid) plus $1M in base salary. Over the following three seasons (2023-24 to 2025-26), Weber’s owed a $1M signing bonus plus $1M in base salary. It’s also possible that factors such as insurance might soften that already-manageable cost."

Yeah I agree but The trade isn't important more then moving money to free up cash for Keumps, Mac, Newy, Byrum. The EJ move was a Dig on TB and LV for their use of the LTIR as a Roster money fund to spend on talent.
