hellebuyck to CAR

Yeahhh thats mostly just a placeholder to rid of two players they dont really need. Could also entertain keeping Jesse on a one year prove it deal, 1 mil or so, provides depth if nothing else.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoSeider53</b></div><div>That offer doesn't get Hellebuyck, But Carolina is the perfect destination for him. The only problem is that you are going to have to offer at least Vasilevskiy money to sign him long term at minimal.</div></div>
Def agree that he would fit in CAR, but Jets have very little on their side of the negotiation. Entertain another mid round draft pick if its still not enough but a one year contract for a 30 year old isn’t going to grab you a haul. Contract extension could be done, since Kooch is signed cheap and lots of money comes off the books next year, could afford losing one of Skjei and/or Pesce and/or Teuvo with Nikishin and Morrow in the works.

hellebuyck to CAR
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>That's not enough for Helle, but he's also not worth it. Goalie with 1 year left on the wrong side of 30 = bad idea.
That Bertuzzi contract is awful. He's not worth that much for that long. He wants that kind of term, you have to be looking 2 years or less. He's SO injury prone.</div></div>
Jets have no leverage on that front. He doesn’t want an extension with them, and his one year left won’t garner a huge return either… First round pick, albeit late, in a very deep draft with two young guys who can have middle lineup impact in the future. If thats still not enough, entertain them with another 3rd or 4th round pick.
As for Hellebuyck himself, he’d be a perfect fit behind Carolina’s D. Its a cheap contract for his overall value, and allows Carolina more to spend. Future deal is a next season problem, lots of people to sign, but also a lot of money coming off the books (Patches, Skjei, Pesce, etc, take your pick).
Bertuzzi whether you like it or not will make that kind of money, hes an absolute stud. Injury prone yes, but he was on the ice for the Bruins in the postseason and look how well he played, exact kind of guy the Canes need.

How I think it plays out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>I think Seattle will take Lind . But I agree Carolina might be interested in Schmidt</div></div>
With Dougie on the way out, I wouldn't mind grabbing Nate Schmidt. Maybe even doing Foegele + late round pick for Schmidt if Vancouver is interested in middle six talent.

Hate to break it to you but Tyson Barrie is not that good, at all. I would never trust him with top line minutes. Hes more of a 3rd pair guy who can command a powerplay, his defense is stupidly bad.

M Tkachuk to CAR Scenario
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>I'd be happy with it if that's how it played out, just don't share the same view. Maybe Bokk+Turbo in my opinion if Suzuki is too much. Think it'd be a win win though.</div></div>
To me, Teravainen is a key part to the Carolina forward core. Trading him for Tkachuk wouldn't get the desired effect I was going for in this scenario, which was to bolster the Canes forwards by getting at least a top six forward. In terms of skill, Tkachuk would probably be a bit of an upgrade. But in terms of team morale, and all the stuff you cant measure with a number, it would hurt the team in so many different ways.

The draft pick is in 2022 not the 13th pick this year.

M Tkachuk to CAR Scenario
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>Except that the Flyers could say "we will pay you $9 mil per year for 7 years if you wait" and then don't have to give up anything. He makes $1 mil less over the term but can get more than that in his 8th year as a UFA. You might get a pick or 2 but it will not be a 1st!</div></div>
Going from 8 million to 9 million is a huge jump. Plus that extra year is the main reason teams are looking to trade for him rather than wait until FA. Nolan Patrick doesn't seem like he will work in Philly, so there isn't much to lose there. Going for Hamilton indicates you are all in for this year and the first should be somewhere from 20-32. I'm a fan of both teams, I would not mind a trade like this coming from Carolina. Defense has been a mess since Niskanen retired and messed up the pairings. Hamilton brings that stability back and the rest of the D should follow. No more Provorov - Braun.

Must've missed him, my mistake. After a quick research on him, he definitely seems like someone that could go around top 15 for sure.

Storm Canes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>evelutions2</b></div><div>Why isn’t Svechnikov on either power play unit? Also I would see Mrazek leaving to be a starter somewhere else. Canes will look for a cheap backup veteran goalie to help mentor Ned. If they resign one of their UFA goalies it will most likely be Reimer. Halak would also be a viable option.</div></div>
Oops forgot about Svech. Remove Lorentz and put him either on the 2nd unit or put him on the first unit and move Turbo down. As for Mrazek, it all depends on what he wants. If he wants to be starter, he can go. If he wants to win, then maybe he takes a deal like this. This is just something I realistically think Carolina could do.

There is no way Seattle willingly takes Gardiner over Skjei or Bean (whoever we dont protect). Throwing a 1st round pick at Seattle to pick Gardiner will not only keep those two defenders I mentioned, but it also frees up cap space for someone like Victor Arvidsson.
