The Sabres are really high on him. He might be the best player they drafted last draft

Take JJ out of the mix. He is part of the Buffalo rebuild, they're not moving their young prospect who they traded up for to draft

Kicks in July 1st 2022, after the draft. They are in no rush and shouldn't be

Kraken - Could Go Crazy Eichel Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KC11</b></div><div>Good luck to BUF on that bet. And wastes another year of their perpetual rebuild. But I guess if any franchise and fanbase have that kind of patience to field a competitive team, its BUF (how many years have they been waiting?)</div></div>
Wastes another year? I don't think you're paying attention. Eichel is NOT a part of their future. Nobody they drafted is playing this year. They were in last place last season and are signing stop gaps to get to the cap floor for this coming season. They're totally planning on drafting top 3 next year again. They cannot trade Eichel for peanuts on the dollar or they will set the franchise back another 10 years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KC11</b></div><div>You think Eichel is playing in BUF this year?? Bridges are burned - not gonna happen. And the value of an aging asset that doesn't play goes down, not up in all sports.</div></div>
He is 24 years old, not 28 or 29. I think what ultimately happens is he has his surgery, out until after the Oly break, plays the last 15 games or so to show he is healthy, has about 20 points in those games and get's dealt at the draft in 2022 for a kings ransom

They're not running out of options though, that's the thing. If you want Eichel you pay up, if you don't then no Jack. I really think this goes into next off season

Most logical Eichel trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I really don't think the Sabres lost on the ROR trade. They trade the good ROR for cap space...and especially when the the Swede retired (Hoglund?). they had few prospects and cap space from the trade. But typically Sabres management wasted the cap space on Skinner. So even if the Sabres can get some prospects and cap space to rebuild with a Eichel trade, can the Sabres spend that new found cap wisely?</div></div>
Basically O'Reilly turned into Tage Thompson and Johnson who is still in college, they absolutely lost that trade

Unrealistic bad but is it enough
Duchene is basically a cap dump at this point, Glass is an underwhelming former 1st round pick neither of these players move the needle for the Sabres, in fact it goes the other way. The Sabres goalie prospect pipeline is really solid now with UPL, Portillo in Michigan, and the recently acquired Levi. I don't think they would be looking for a goalie. So in reality the quantity does not equal enough quality especially for an Eichel trade.

Most logical Eichel trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>xxToothxx</b></div><div>Oh great another Buffalo fan thinks they can just destroy another teams prospect system.
You will not sniff an offer this good.
Buffalo phuked this up.... the return is only getting smaller at this point.
Only chance Sabres have is if he comes back PLAYS AMAZING, and then gets traded.</div></div>
I think this is the most realistic option the Sabres have. Let him have his surgery, keep him out until after the Olympic break completely healthy and have him play the last 15 games and show he is completely healthy. It keeps him away from Buffalo during the majority of the season and he gets traded before or at the draft before him NMC kicks in. I think Kevyn Adams is playing this the right way, he cannot lose an Eichel trade like the Sabres did the O'Reilly trade. He hold the cards here whether Eichel and his agent like it or not. The real question is will Kevyn hold firm. So far he has.

I like these types of random rosters. I think they blue line is lacking just a bit, the forwards look pretty good, it is a playoff worthy roster, Kuemper is good enough in net (at least the Avs hope so), There is a good enough of grit in this lineup to compete in the playoffs as well but I don't think there is enough talent on the blue line for a long run

Take out Kotkaniemi and put in Suzuki and I still don't think the Sabres accept, but it's a lot closer than this package

A lot of teams "leak" certain info to the bigger names in the media to help their cause, I would love to sit in a room with one NHL GM during the off season to find out what really happens

He wanted surgery, the Sabres wanted to rehab, he was using it as a tool to get out, but he is back skating and training after rehab, sounds like his agent found out most NHL teams agreed with the Sabres on not doing the surgery
