I think that the most likely way that Kakko gets to Ottawa is in a trade for a half retained Connor Brown especially if this is in the offseason.
So like:
TO OTT
Kakko
Kravtsov
TO NYR
C. Brown.

Konecny returns to Ottawa Flyers get Center help

Quoting: budgeteam

What am I missing with Konecny? I get he has been down since his peak, but is he really that bad?
Brannstrom has no value. In a best case scenario, maybe a 3rd round pick. There is always a trend with these undersized young puck moving defenseman who are top prospects. Where once they bust, it takes the internet 2-3 extra years to realize it. They keep getting thrown into big trade offers on message boards, with fans of the team hoping that no one realizes they stink. Call it the Julius Honka effect.
Konecny also has a 2M signing bonus this season. So, you know the Flyers paying that would be part of the trade. Which gives even more value for Ottawa.

Brannstrom was traded for freaking Stone. Still has potential to grow. Also Konecny had 52 points this season not a career high.

Fair trade imo
I think Toronto could get a pick from someone for Holl so he isn't needed in this trade as a cap dump.
Unless Dubas cannot resist Murray because of the Greyhound connection, they will want Ottawa to retain on Murray. I don't think there will be a market for Mrazek without Toronto taking back cap, so it is a perfect storm for both sides to swap goalies.
I made a similar thread, my proposal was Murray @ 3.8M for Mrazek. Because of the structure of Murray's salary, it saved Ottawa real money, and they are a budget team not a cap team. It is cap neutral for Toronto. Both sides benefit from a change of scenery in net.
If that trade happens, maybe Gustavsson goes to Minnesota with the 7th overall as a piece in a Fiala package.

change of scenery
Neither guy needs a change of scenery. That's for when two players are struggling, so both teams swap their bad players because they are out of options.
Edmonton is not in a position of strength with Puljujarvi. Because they are keeping Yamamoto, they cannot afford to qualify Puljujarvi and risk having to pay him up to 4.5 million without being able to walk away.
Ottawa is not trading Formenton. They are a budget team, and he will sign a cheap 2 year RFA deal to bridge him to arbitration. They need those players to help fill in the gaps, and Formenton has cemented himself as a legitimate top 9 NHL forward. If they did go after Puljujarvi, they would be more likely to cash in on their treasure trove of picks and prospects to get him.
I think they would only go after Puljujarvi as a consolation prize if they fail to acquire any of the big fish like Fiala. It is unlikely that Ottawa can afford to pay Puljujarvi 3.5+ million with term as a top 9 forward/complimentary guy in their top 6. They already have acquired Joseph as their top 9 luxury within their budget. The only thing that is a fit, is that Ottawa is short on right handed forwards.

Who says no
Would Seattle take the goalie who was more highly touted out of the draft, and has shown more (in a small sample size) in the NHL? After Gustavsson failed to move forward this past season, would Ottawa want to take a mulligan on the 2021 expansion draft? Or, is each team happy with how this turned out?
With Driedger projected to be on IR for most of the 22-23 season, Daccord would project as Seattle's number 2 goalie. Would they prefer Gustavsson in that spot?
The tale of the tape:
-Both goalies are no longer waiver exempt.
-Both goalies have 1 year 7XXk 1-way contracts.
-Both goalies are RFAs after the contracts expire.
-Both teams have a logjam in net, with 3 goalies signed to 1-way contracts.
-Seattle's logjam is alleviated next season, since Driedger will be out with an injury for almost he entire season.
Performance:
-In the 20-21 season, Gustavsson was the Senators best performing goalie in a small sample size. He had a .933 save percentage over 9 games.
-Gustavsson was a highly touted goalie prospect, selected in the 2nd round of the 2016 draft by the Penguins. He was a central piece in the Brassard trade.
-Gustavsson had solid numbers in the AHL, but failed to perform in the NHL.
-Joey Daccord was a 7th round pick in the 2015 draft.
-Daccord is the typical late bloomer, who takes a few years to get going at each level, but has dominated everywhere he has played since being drafted. He had a stellar third year in a new Arizona State hockey program before turning pro.
-He has not shown what Gustavsson has in the NHL, but has vastly outplayed him in the AHL so far.
-In Daccord's defense, no Seattle goalies were good, while both Murray (at times) and Forsberg outperformed Gustavsson in the NHL.

I think Boston declines, but instead of the 2024 first add a 2023 first, add Jarventie and replace Brannstrom with Greig and I think Boston would be more inclined to say yes

I think it's an overpay, but Ottawa has way too many young assets and picks that I really wouldn't mind if Ottawa overpayed for a superstar winger
