Fixing
As much as I like Krug, and I do, $7 million a year for 7 years is a lot of money and another long contract. I thought we know that long contracts now bite back? That Krug contract made the rest of the team more suspect. You got Ryan playing on the first line! Also, I don't think we should give up on Merkley so easily.

Way more than a first for freaking Done playing Dubnyk</div></div>
We had Stalock. We also had Griess too. It wasn't that great, but it was a while back. I remember Stalock was going through an almost career ending injury back then. Greiss was just a backup. They have progressed for sure since then though. They are cheap options, yes.

I think he's implying that Khudobin isn't going to be worth the money that's about to be dished out to him. Basically, his playoff performance was an extreme career high outlier. I could be wrong.

Minny Trade and Fast
Dubnyk should not be on the team, but it seems like the rumor could end up being true. If we have to take Dubnyk, I would want Minnesota to retain some of his contract. If Doug Wilson gets Dubnyk with no retention, he's no magician anymore.

Overpaying Dobby to Sign
The way I see it, it's either have slightly better goaltending or improved right wing. That's the trade off. I already did a better right wing side armchair GM thread so this is the better goaltending version. There is no "win" with all these long-term contracts in place. Sigh...

Is it possible to get Dobby if we overpay him a bit to entice him to San Jose? Like $5 million AAV?

Kane Labanc and TBL 1st for Marner
Dubas seems to love Marner and says he's "untouchable". He's formed the big three with Marner, Matthews, and Tavares whether that's a downfall or not (I say downfall). You're probably better off trying to get Laine than Marner. That said, I want neither Laine or Marner on the team.

I've been quietly lurking because I'm so ready for a blow up rebuild. Come back in contention in 10 years. Yes, I love my Sharks just like the fanbase does. I think Hasso and Doug aren't willing to and making the Sharks a "cap team".

I know. I get it. I honestly rather just re-sign Dell than to have Dubnyk on the team. I wouldn't mind just trying to get Donato though.

I don't want Marner. The Sharks need depth, not more expensive players. I hate Marner's contract as well.

Probably the best goalie tandem right now is Lehner and Fleury of VGK (if and/or until VGK does something with Flower). I highly doubt Philly accepts that trade too.

I do not personally know Ryan Merkley, but from what legit sources are mentioning, he has attitude problems and not team-friendly.
If it is true that he is nutcase, I do not care how skill and talented you are. If I was in charge, I would not allow him to destroy the rest of the team and probably ship him out elsewhere.

Sharks saving cap space to future contracts
I understand Dell and Melker being dealt for cap spacing reasons, however, Dillon is pretty needed as he would probably be an anchor for Heed.
Also, Dell, Melker, and Dillon will have contracts that expire after this season so I think they are all fighting for renewed/bigger contracts. That or they leave for free agency.

VGK wants nothing to do with SJS in terms of trades unless it’s massively to their advantage.

Keeping Heed. Also, Merkley is a nutcase. Do not mind if Merkley gets shipped out. Locker room cancer.

Best of friends. They’re BFFs and both were devastated leaving each other in Ottawa. Now, they can get back together and have a splendid time together in San Jose. EK65 and Hoffman can set up plays together again.
Nothing like hockey wife friendships!

Trade Options
To be honest, I think he could be the first notable Shark drafted by the organization, only played for the organization, and retired from that organization. Whether he gets bought out (very possible down the road) or by his own choice, I think he enters retirement instead of playing for another team.
Also, he’s the one in charge of going to another team or not with that NMC.

No on practically all these trades. You also aged the team so much more. I wish people would realize that if Thornton re-signs, there are only one or two prospects that would need to crack the roster. Not a million unnecessary and unfair trades needed.

As much as I would want this to happen since I think the Sharks won this trade, I think Tampa Bay declines. They wouldn’t want these players/prospects. Don’t forget that Tampa Bay is also in heavy contention so they may not want to trade.

Flames Trade
Dillon is quite important even if he gets pushed down to the third pairing. With him gone, you have Carrick and Heed as the bottom pairing. I’d feel so bad for Jones if that’s what we’re going to go with. More importantly, I’d feel so sorry for us, Sharks fans, because that bottom pairing is basically AHL players from last season.

Well, the scouting team tends to find some rare gems in the later rounds. Also, the development and coaching is ranked up there.
The Sharks front office draft mediocre players in the higher end draft picks though. Just don’t know why.

I think someone like True will make the lineup at RW. I think and hope the homegrown talent can fill the hole.
Also, I want to add that I would put Goodrow over M. Karlsson in this lineup. Aaron Dell and Melker are dumpster fires right now.
