No team is taking all of those horrible contracts without serious compensation.

Stecher is ten times the player Gudbranson is. He's the 3rd best d-man on the Canucks right now after Tanev and Edler. His next contract will likely be in the $3-4m range

Demko isn't going to get paid anywhere near that much. His contract is up at the end of this season and he will likely spend most of it in Utica or at best as a backup. If he has an amazing season and wins the Calder Trophy, maybe he gets $4m on a bridge deal.

Madden, Woo and DiPietro are also all unlikely to be on the team by 2020-21.

The Canucks are going to get some assets for Chris Tanev, not lose him for nothing in FA.

You're penalty kill units are awful.

Why on earth would the Canucks extend Laplante, he's an ECHL level player.

Toronto doesn't take that trade even BEFORE we consider Nylander. Statistics are important in player evaluation whether you like it or not. It's cold hard facts. Antti Raanta should be there. Vasilevskiy should not be #1. Rinne plays behind the best top 4 in the league and still struggles at times... he had a -GSAA.
