In the end, they have that fourth line to begin the year because it's the cheapest as most of the RFD prospects have higher AAV, so Bowman can maximize TDL cap space and then they really have a whole bunch of options heading into the playoffs. The math just doesn't work out to give Saad his 5m/yr for 5 years that he probably wants and keep Seabrook next year while paying Crawford 6m/yr and having a starter caliber goaltender in Darling making peanuts. The forward depth takes a little hit but the D depth is great and gives the kids like Johns, Pokka, Reilly sheltered minutes while Oduya signs for 4m/yr for 2 years and gives them time to develop. That's a team that can repeat imo. Not sure they can with the D depth they'd have with Crow in net. Maybe they'd want more for Sutter, idk. Maybe a 3rd round pick or a lottery ticket prospect?
