Hawks Seabrook trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TopLineTom43</b></div><div>Thank you for that explanation. I don’t really get to see too many Chicago games. You think that’s a system issue or talent issue?</div></div>
I think its a motivational issue. This started on the backend of Q's time with the Hawks, basically started after Panarin and Hammer went, so there wasn't too much roster turnover that led to the fall. Maybe the guys decided there wasn't anything left to play for. Maybe they just suck now. Who knows

Hawks Seabrook trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TopLineTom43</b></div><div>That contract is pretty rough. You think it would cost more? I haven’t watched him play this year. Is seabrook that bad?</div></div>
He has struggled, but with the team playing poorly, he has become the scapegoat. I have stated the Hawk’s problem isn’t defence, but their offence. They are last in goals scored.
A team giving up 51 & 49 shots respectively on this road trip can be thought as playing poorly defensively, but the most part, they are not getting beat on odd man rushes, and in the defensive zone managing the passing lanes effectively. I am comparing to how brutal the club played last season. The high shots on net, I think can be attributed to a lack of puck possession. The Hawks are chasing the puck, not winning the board battles any place on the ice, when they have the puck their passing and offensive attack as a unit have been brutal. There is no sense of urgency.
The glaring positive has been the goaltending. It is being wasted. Yes the Hawks are guilty as a team, of clearing puck out of their zone, but I think more so failing to execute their scoring chances.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AFOX10900</b></div><div>Yup, iirc when CHI was entertaining talks of trading down from three, nobody would take pick 3 and the Seabs contract</div></div>
It was Vancouver who wanted the 3rd overall because they hosted the draft, and the trade wouldve been 3rd plus Seabs for the 10th overall, which is why they didnt do it. If it was just the 3rd overall with Seabs for a 4th rounder I think they wouldve accepted that in a heart beat, considering they were actually thinking about doing the trade for the 10th overall but ultimately didnt want to pull the trigger.

Well the value is about right to get rid of Seabrook. Great prospect or a lotterypick and a 2nd at least. And Ottawa could be the only team who is kinda willing to make a trade including Seabrook

Won’t happen. Seabrook, if he chooses to leave would want to play for club who will compete for the cup. Why would Ottawa take Seabrook’s contract?

Caps fans does this work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TopLineTom43</b></div><div>Comparing Korkaniemi to Barkov is a little much. He hasn’t really shown he’s going to be anything more than a poor mans COUTURIER. So from my point of view it’s like you wanting us to trade Forsberg for Erat (Danault). We all know how that ends major difference is we know Vrana is good. Also he scored 50 points 1 time in 8 years ? You’re stretching.
Korkaniemi is being glorified heavily by you. He’s not doing anything impressive to deserve the Barkov comparison. But hey man everyone is guilty of overrating their players. Mine at least has the stats to prove he’s worth way more</div></div>
One 47 point season on a team where he plays beside some of the best offensive players in the game are your stats? Pretty weak. I'm just pointing out that any team wouldn't trade a 26 year old center who got Selke votes last year for a 23 year old winger who is breaking out playing on a high octane offense. They are two very different styles of player, but in trade value the 50 point two way center over the 60 point winger.
I mean Martin Erat was like 13 years older then Forsberg, Danault is 3 years older then Vrana, not the best comparison.
Barkov is what I see Kotkaniemies ceiling being, think he will be more of a developed star, not every top 5 player pick is Mathews or Pettersson, and most stars do take time to actually develop into those players. Ryan Oreilly took a couple years, Bergeron took years, Marchand took years. Were living in a youth era but there will still be players that take time to get there. I think with Kotkaniemi, ceiling is Barkov, floor probably a Brayden Schenn.

Halls agent is my dad true story
I'm not sold on the 9.5 being a discount.
I know he'll ask for Panarin but my guess is Stone money is the reality. It really depends on his year this year. Which frankly, if you extend out his current stats you are looking at 14 goals and a whole lot of assists.
Now, we can go round and round on that. You are probably looking at 84 points this year if it extends out.
But here is the thing. is anyone paying that for a bunch of assists. Stone knocked in 33 + 6 in the playoffs last year.
On top of it, does he really fit what the penguins want?
Malkin works best with a sniper on his wing. Neal, Kessel.......
That's because Malkin plays best when the puck is on his stick. Taylor hall runs around like a play maker racking up stats. But that takes the puck away from Malkin, who wants to dish it to someone to pull the trigger while he takes up the defense on him as people can't cover him one on one.
Are we really bringing in a guy who spent more of his years knocking in 20 goals. Does that really fit? Are we paying 9.5 for that?
He had one year of 39 goals. 1 year. Nothing else even close to that.
I'm not saying bringing him in is a bad idea. I don't really know, but I have my doubts and I doubt if it's worth the salary he'll ask if he thinks he's getting Panarin money. Because frankly, I don't see that happening.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TopLineTom43</b></div><div>I agree with both your points. Nyr could have got kings ransom for kreider last year. They missed out especially with how he’s currently playing. But I bet he gets a 1st and b level guy.
Example. Flames give 1st and dube or Sabre 1st and Thompson
Might be off with those values. As a Caps fan I was offering 1st Burakovsky and a LucaJo last year at the deadline</div></div>
Like you said rangers kind of miss the boat with kreider last year. I think that they would have received a better returns. Because now everybody’s know he will be traded and that he will hit the market. Like the jets handle trouba situation they didn’t receive the return they expected ranger won’t received a first and a top prospect like thompson or dube. Top 5 prospect in organization are almost untouchable on any team. They invested too much money and know team are selecting more for they need then for the talent. Draft start looking like nfl. Team know’s players are coming faster to the league so they rather select a position players then the best available at the moment. So trading top prospect for a rental is very unlikely. Last few trade deadline have gone that way. Team are more willing to move pick.

Dano at that time wasn’t performing at all. He would become a suspect in the time the jets traded ladd for him. The main pieces was the first round pick. Ladd add succes with the jets because they where playing a heavy game. The year they traded him was the years the youngster in winnipeg took over and started to play with more speed.
