<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>If dahlin is gonna play on the right and jokiharju has chemistry with power, rhd is no longer a massive need</div></div>

Dahlin's never really been effective on his off side for any significant stretch at any time in his career.

Aside from taking one timers in the offensive zone, it's almost never beneficial for a defenseman to play on their off side, harder to protect the puck against the boards, more awkward to chip the puck out of the zone, most passes are forced up the middle as its awkward to open up constantly. Idk if you've played D before but pretty much always more difficult to play in your own zone on your off side. For a sabres specific example take Brandon Montour from a few years back, he had to play on his off side and was much less effective than other times in his career, he moved back this year and boom.

Why would you take Dahlin, your best D, a super gifted offensive guy who's good defensively but by no means perfect in his own zone and make it even harder for him. It makes no sense at al.

In terms of Jokijharju, he's played what 4 games with power, saying he's got chemistry with him is preemptive at the very least. Joki is a fine player but definitely not my top choice to play with a young Power and build him up.

If you think adding those defenseman don't make our D core significantly better by letting Ras play his side and adding stability you're delusional

The value of the trades might not be perfect but your analysis of the Sabres D situation is pretty bad

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>You’re wrong and stupid (mostly because you asked to be called those things) because neither Philly or Tampa would ever make these trades. The supposed “buffalo tax“ is bull****, since nobody else has any money to spend anyone who wants to be paid will have to accept what Buffalo offers at a certain point. Kuemper will probably be lucky to get $7 million, And Burakovsky won’t see more than $6 million from anyone. That said I expect Colorado can afford to keep one of them. These two will be in high demand, and not necessarily the targets Kevyn Adams will be after.</div></div>

Ha, glad someone saw that part

To address what you've said, I think the Buffalo tax has some truth to it, just like how Florida teams can get away with signing guys for less for location and tax breaks, Buffalo weather and NY taxes kind of swing the pendulum the other way.

Burakovsky makes nearly 5 million now, and following a career year, adding 1.3mill a year for a short term (You have to acknowledge that Buffalo's cap situation sort of allows for this sort of play, overpaying in the shortterm to attract a guy like Burakovsky that's super unlikley to sign here otherwise)

Kuemper, same logic, he's a relatively new goalie in terms of his ranking/prestige. He's obviously not worth 8million, but Buffalo needs to spend to get to the cap floor and if you think another teams would consider 7 mil, 8 mil for 2 years to ensure solid goaltending while the young core develops isn't super irrepsonsible imo

In terms of those two not being targets Kevyn Adams is after, why's that, why not? which goalie would you go after. I think Burakovsky isn't necessary as Peterka/Quinn could take that spot but Kuemper or a goalie of his ability is a need

cheers
