Not saying he's a top line out of the gate, but it's not like the Devils lack LHD so badly they should go all-in with those assets now.</div></div>
Same reason the were open to trading their first round pick this year at the draft, they want to pull out of the rebuild now. Luke Hughes will be a great addition to the team at the end of the season but banking on a rookie D to just jump up to the NHL and dominate is not a smart bet to make, this shelters him and allows him to adapt his game. If Hughes jumps Chych on the roster in a season or two then Jersey still has one of the best Blue lines in the NHL while Nemec, Hughes are still on ELC's
Severson is likely being shopped and can likely be moved for forward help if needed.
Chych- Hamilton
Hughes- Marino
Graves/ Seigenthaler- Nemec
not many teams will compete with that and only Graves isn't locked up for 3+ years

2023 1st: top ten pick
thats already too much</div></div>
Did you not just make a proposal where coyotes got two sens 1sts? both those should be higher than Jersey's picks. Only way Jerseys falls in the standings is if Hughes gets hurt. Holtz also doesn't have a spot ahead of Bratt or Mercer at the moment, so he will be 3rd line unless he has a major breakout.

future
Matias Maccelli, Lane Pederson, Liam Kirk and surprised Adin Hill didn't make the list over Kallgren (i'm not a big fan of his though)
There are some other decent picks from this years draft, but i don't think the've proven enough yet to bother adding.

Marleau retire binch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yes</b></div><div>The difference between NYR’s 2nd and Toronto’s 1st is probably 10 spots, tops. So you’re essentially dumping Marleau for free.</div></div>
Personally i disagree, i don't know if the OP thought of this when he made the scenario because the Ottawa trade is pretty comical but the the 2019 draft is looking weak and the 2020 draft is looking very good and deep. I would easily trade a weak second rounder and pay Marleau 1mill, take on his cap hit for 1 year while rebuilding for another 2020 1st.

31 Thoughts: Arizona Coyotes (2/31)
Hinostroza was the main piece in the Hossa trade. Also can't see him as the fourth line centre when they just resigned Richardson and have Cousins. Likely starts as Gally's RW i'd think.
<a href="https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/six-early-nhl-breakout-candidates-watch-2018-19/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/six-early-nhl-breakout-candidates-watch-2018-19/</a> (last player mentioned is Hino)
Hammer is Chychs partner by the end of last year as well with Demer's playing well with OEL
personally think
Panik-Stepan-Keller
Perlini-Gally-Hino
Grabner-Dvorak-Fischer
Crouse/ Cousins-Strome-Richardson/Archibald
OEL-Demers
Chych-Hammer
Goli-Oesterle/Connauton
and still think they'll suck on the PP because they don't have anyone great at gaining the offensive zone on the breakout. Drafting Hughes would have been great to fix their PP in my opinion.

Deadline moves
As an Arizona fan i've actually had trade ideas along the lines of what you made
Mine were
OEL, Macinnis for RNH, 2018 first, Bear
and
OEL, Strome, Macinnis, Wood, 4th rnd for Klefbolm, RNH and 2018 first rnd
