<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>wait 2 yeras on Newhook? He is an NHLer right now I dont think you have any clue what you are talking about. they do not need to replace Kadri this year, he is their 2c and a good one. The Cap exists for the avs, they cant afford Eichel bc they have something called MacKinnons contract to afford.
Seriously man your logic behind the trades are just bad</div></div>
You claim I lack the knowledge of the topic I am speaking about but you advocate for complacency. How did that work last year specifically the 2nd round where Kadri played so well they put him in the bleachers. You're confusing an NHLer with a 2nd line center, context matters. Newhook is not a 2c RIGHT NOW (will take 2 years) and yes he will be a 2c and a very good one, Kadri is a liability his track record shows this. MacKinnon already stated he would take a cut in 2023-2024 and if you ship Kadri and Compher that would be the cap to sign Burky this summer. if you want to stick a player in the 2c slot who has 6 games under his belt you're being naïve and setting yourself up for failure from the get go.
if Colorado does not move Kadri this year, they have to sign Kadri, Burky and Kuemper this summer and then MacKinnon the following summer.
if my trades are not up to your standards then please enlighten me as to what you would do to progress past the 2nd round Howler.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>No one is giving two 2nds for Johnson, the Sabres aren't retaining on Eichel nor are they trading him for that, the Blues easily match.</div></div>
Value on Eichel drops daily while Buffalo plays hardball with his career, fine don't retain and throw in another 2nd and a prospect or just another 1st. If the Blues could match then I agree they would match but they are against the cap unless they move a player, I know Tarasenko has been linked to several rumors but until that happens RT will remain a unsigned RFA unless he accepts a lowball offer that is his qualify offer. Johnson is a pure cap dump and while he may not be worth two 2nds, GMs have paid more for less several times over.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>UpsideDownQue</b></div><div>Well this is very optimistic</div></div>
Damn right it is, alcohol and fantasy tools are always fun.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>lrw2105</b></div><div>A 4 mill/year w/a 2nd as compensation for RThomas (which COL can't do as they don't have their second) is something some team should do, esp. as they can negotiate with him right now a reasonable extension to sign in Jan. Would need to be a team w/the 1year cap that RT would want to go to ...</div></div>
Realistically I don't see RT going to Colorado in any manner, Honestly there are only a few teams that could afford RT, it would be someone like Arizona but we know they don't play by the rules. I could see RT getting anywhere between 4.5-6m a yr easy.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>I dont see the rationale for all the teams to involved to accept these moves, it makes 0 sense for anyone long term</div></div>
Colorado needs a 2c that will be around in the playoffs, they dont have time to waste 2 years waiting on Newhook. If Colorado is to win now they need a replacement for Kadri. Johnson = cap dump, RT = praying you win the lotto, obviously RT could demand more money.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xspyrit</b></div><div>Even before looking at all this from teams' perspective... Why would Robert Thomas sign this very LOWBALL offersheet?</div></div>
RT has 3 options, 1. take a fat check to play for a bottom feeding team, 2. accept a lowball offer via offersheet (cup contender) and wait until an extension can be signed for his real value or qualifying offer from the Blues as they cannot afford him at this moment in time, 3. Avoid signing in the NHL and go to Russia. Blues have 3 options for working with RT, get him to sign QO, trade cap space to sign him, or trade him. it comes down to who wants to take the lead RT or the Blues no matter what happens RT will make his money.

Opening Night Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>adamkaz23</b></div><div>Correct me if I'm wrong but Rantanen would be a UFA when that contract is done yeah? That's at the same time MacKinnon will need a new contract. MacKinnon and Rantanen UFA at the same time. That could use up to 30 million in cap space at that time... crazy... Don't wanna end up like the BJ's (sad emoji)
Idk I'm torn. I feel like we should sign Rantanen to Max term or 3 years so he's a RFA at that point and we could get something for him. Mac over rants imo.</div></div>
You can see he is still RFA on the long term outlook tab. IMO what Bergevin did to Carolina was more that just a simple offer sheet, the term takes Aho to UFA status which was intentional and forces Carolina's hand with potentially losing him at terms end. The 4yr deal gives term and good cap for both team and player and allows Rants to get that big payday with a bigger salary cap in 23-24, I agree with your issue of having Mack and Rants both expiring at the same time, but rants will be RFA for more leverage to Colorado.
