That is sort of what I mean though. We can both agree David Savard is a 18 minute defenseman and plays the style playoff teams want. Wouldn't you want to take a bigger shot while your division is wide open? Being able to slot Demelo at 6D would be amazing for their depth. Especially if DAL targets a Chris Tanev type, WPG may want to react similar to Lindholm effect.

Is this coming from a more COL perspective? The value for Kent in keeping another retention spot with Petry already there is worth withholding a higher pick. I do think you have a point from a COL thought though if they need the extra $1.85M space but if we can match those contracts then I wonder if the retention is needed.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Hopefully Chevy is done with his charitable contributions to Montreal. The Jets don't really have the cap room to get stuck with Savard's contract next season.</div></div>
Very fair thought. I think now more than ever, GM's see that parity in the league and when you're having a strong season, you try and go for it. I think the Jets can take a good run at DAL & COL. Getting some of the Jets players back with $10 million in space is doable if Chevy parts with a player like Schmidt in the off-season. This idea could have gone towards Dallas because I think they're thinking RD as well but WPG has our 2nd so just made more sense.

Just ideas - please dont freak out - peace
All really well balanced thoughts. I think those are the main three subtractions and Hughes always surprises with at least one move and I'm sort of leaning towards your thought on Barron eventually being an odd man out. Would like to see some creativity from Kent there if he goes that route.

Appreciate the civil reply. I understand your POV based on your last point. I'm interested to see divisional and inter conference reactions post Lindholm off the board.

Thanks for the civil reply. He will get something close to what I suggested. History and supply and demand suggests so. Perhaps it's not Winnipeg but I think he's a perfect fit there.

Allen is gonna be dealt, not to Carolina, they dont need him, Anderson's gonna come back, they have raanta and Kotch (and Allen is gonna get more than just that)
Pearson is probably worth more than just a 5th, but again the injury he got early doesnt help</div></div>
Fair enough. Maybe the Allen one was off base. I'm just trying to find some common ground. This site and just generally people flip when you suggest Monahan can go for a 1st +. Supply and demand and history speaks for itself he will but I was trying to get to the middle.

Fair enough. Wasn't sure where he'd go (maybe LAK) makes more sense.

Realistic Hall Look
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Price_is_the_goat</b></div><div>you make a good point, but if im a free agent, despite the great environment and culture in nashville, why would a FA go to nashville? out of the last 3 big FA that signed in nashville for term (Turris, Bonino and Duchene) preds have gotten rid of 2 of them within 3 years of signing their contracts. Duchene isn't doing that well either in terms of play. turris was a disaster and was just bought out. bonino left an elite pens team to join the preds and has just gotten traded. poile doesn't offer NTC/NMC (he did for josi though), so what guarantee does Hall have that he'll be in a preds jursey in year 2 or 3 of his contract?</div></div>
I agree with you. I think the only thing Nashville has in its favor is lifestyle and personal connections (I believe this holds a ton of value.) His MVP season came with Hynes behind the bench so perhaps there is a connection there. IMO, short term he probably has BOS, COL listed and long-term NSH, MTL.

Like I said, I heard today from Pagnotta that if Montreal wanted him it would be closer to the number you mentioned which reflects the number in my explanation. I am just trying to go off of needs and the fact Boston needs two LHD and sign Debrusk. They could easily do as you mentioned and use Debrusk to get a LHD and sign Chara. Our biggest competition I believe is actually Nashville.
