Players To Target Thoughts
Seems like the general consensus from Devils fans is to go after free agents rather than make a trade. Probably the smartest thing for them to do, to be honest.
I think Fiala is the best fit for the Devils for trade targets since he is apparently friends with Hischier, he's younger than any of the top free agent targets, and I think he'd sign long-term in New Jersey (friends with Hischier as I said and our beat writer has speculated that he'd be willing to sign long-term in a big city). He also should cost less than the top free agent targets, I'd imagine he'll sign around $7.5-$7.8M for 5-7 years (remember the Devils would be buying some UFA years so I think Fiala would get more than Hischier or Bratt). Return packages have been discussed ad nauseum, but generally Devils fans don't want to give up any of 2OA, Holtz, or Mercer for Fiala while Wild fans generally don't want to move Fiala unless it includes one of these assets.

Players To Target Thoughts
I think that Fiala is going to be the best balance between cost to acquire and cost to pay, if you don't mind giving up your 2023 first. If you do, then one of the second-tier UFAs you've signed here makes sense.

Top 3 protection for Chychrun, yes more needed, maybe Bahl? Maybe Foote, something
Not as much for Vanacheck, but I like this pickup
Like the Marchment pickup
I think FF asks for more, prices him out of our range, go for Nichushkin (gets us bigger)

Idk why but I feel like Marchment gets at least 4.5-5 just becasue NHL gms only care about size, anyways the Devils have the cap for it

It's his two year contract that makes him a difficult trade, unless he start playing above his cap.

Does Domi mesh in NJ
Domi doesn't really mesh anywhere. He is injured, not the greatest person in the world and he is a difficult player to use in a line up. Just not worth it unless your team sucks super hard. There is a reason SEA didn't take him for free and another team hasn't traded for him

TB deal - good for NJD...
EDM deal - good for EDM...
I could see more going to TB and less going to EDM. But both probably close/workable.

Wings I like where you are going.
Here are some similar ideas Devs posters have done similar: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1759691
TRADE1
NJD
1. Sergachev, Mikhail [RFA Rights]
TBL
1.Mueller, Mirco
2.Walsh, Reilly [Reserve List]
3.2020 1st round pick (ARI)
Alternative Idea-Add Walsh, Reilly [Reserve List] and swap out AZ 1st for VAN pick 1st https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1756135
TRADE 2
NJD
1. Virtanen, Jake [RFA Rights]
2. Eriksson, Loui
VAN
1. Wood, Miles
2. Anderson, Joseph
3. 2021 5th round pick (BUF)
From a Nucks fan: https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1760026
VAN
2020 1st round pick (VAN)
*17th overall pick*
NJ
Boeser, Brock
Eriksson, Loui
The Devils get a discount price on Boeser for also taking on Eriksson's contract
I think Zyyyp suggested in a proposal for VAN to add 21 yr old 2nd rounder RW Kole Lind And I keep harping over getting from VAN 19 yr old 2nd rounder RD Jett Woo
I think if Devs are smart they make these types of moves with cap on their side!
Flame away!

I hope you're wrong as well. if they drop 1 spot I won't lose sleep over it, I'll gladly take Perfetti or Holtz. that said a top 3 selection would be unreal, Stutzle would be perfect for this team.

hopefully the lottery balls go your way sir, you guys can have Lafreniere... as long as NJ gets Stutzle haha

I'd be totally shocked if we get number 1 or 2, I expect us to get screwed again and pick 4. Which means probably one of Rossi/Raymond/Drysdale or Askarov i'd imagine.

As for Raymond and Askarov, Raymond could MAYBE make a push for a roster spot. At least the 9 games to start the season seeing how he steps up given all the youth NJ seems to inserting into their system. Will be interesting to see

Considering how awful our roster is especially at RW yes he would push for a spot but he's not ready. He's a smaller guy and needs to work on his upper body strength over the next year. He got pushed around a little too easy in the SHL, that's a main reason why Holtz was able to make an easier transition to pro than he did and why he was more productive. He needs at least another year in Sweden

I'd definitely make both of those trades but you overpaid Puljujarvi at 2M, he hasn't proven anything in the NHL. Not sure if I would make that Edmundson signing if we already had Zadorov at 4.3 x 4. Would love Raymond and Askarov in the draft but neither are NHL ready in year 1.

Who Are You Drafting
Raymond at 4 (or Stutzle, but he won't be there)
At 14, in order: Gunler Amirov (Holtz, but he'll be gone) Mysak Holloway (Marat, but he'd be available later) Andrae 20 probably a similar list, there's gonna be a few available, but I'd start looking at Zary and Jarvis here probably getting into my tier with guys like Grans Bourque and Cormier etc but I would almost guarantee that someone I have above would be available

the last thing NJ should be doing is trading a relatively high pick in a loaded draft. if the scouting staff has any idea what they're doing the player they take with that pick should end up being quite a bit better than Labanc anyways.

Use The 3 First Rounders
This may be unpopular, but I think the best case scenario for us would be Vancouver losing to Minnesota and the pick deferring to next year, where the pick will be somewhere between 12-20, rather than it potentially being in the 20s this year.
