Use The 3 First Rounders
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>Question. I am working on a what if scenario AGM for the Leafs. Hypothetically, if the Leafs lost to Columbus in the play-in, but won the 3rd overall pick in the 2020 draft, do you think the Devils would trade their three 1st rounders for the 3rd overall pick, who I am assuming would be Lucas Raymond?</div></div>
Why wouldn't you just draft Drysdale? It basically fixes all of Toronto's issues right there.

I like Edmundson, I'm fine with them taking a flyer on Galchenyuk too, and I'd be happy with that trade. nothing crazy here but good moves

My Lineup Versus Pitt
First off Butcher is out for the year. Don't break up Mueller-PK and Dakota-Severson. The pairs have been shockingly OK which is better than before. The Bratt-Zacha -Goose line bas been their most consistent. Do not break that up. Leave Jack on the Wing until next season where he can bulk up a little. He's been tossed around like a rag doll.

Maybe the devils will be rewarded for finishing the year off strong and get the top pick? the jets did that the year they got Laine. They were out of the playoffs and won 5 in a row to end the year (or something like that). A lot of fans were pissed and actively cheering against their team, but in the end they were rewarded

They need to learn how to win, if they get lucky they get lucky, but they need to figure out how to win.
Binghampton is finally doing it, now the big club needs to as well. For them to have a chance at playoffs next year this more or less needs to be their training camp

Heres My Guess
Was TvR an anticipated cap move here? I think their recent injuries may provide enough cap spare (via LTIR) so that they could keep TvR.
Vatanen/Domingue for 1st seems possible....but I am guessing CAR may get better RHD/G options for that pick (certainly better Goalie options).

I don't disagree with you at all.
But, in my book, I see Bouchard as about an elite of a defensive prospect as anyone. In the same class as Bowen Byram and Noah Dobson....ahead of Broberg, Soderstrom, Sandin, Sieder, etc. This would be huge get for NJD if they could land him.

If Im Fitz And Want To Keep The Job
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FireShero</b></div><div>Why trade Mueller now? It's just him, Butcher, and White at the NHL level now. As a bruins fan I'd say Vaak is about ready if not already ready for NHL action. Bruins LHD is too deep. Lauzon has obviously taken the bigger strides as he's beginning to win the job of full time RD3. As for the trade as a fan, I'd hate to see Vaak go. And if I can assume what management is thinking with their current LD situation with Chara close to retiring, Krug UFA and Grizz RFA idk if Don would sell either Vaak or Lauzon. Personally I think Grizz is on the outs come the summer time and there will be a battle between Vaak, Lauzon and Clifton for the two bottom pair spots. In the end I think Sweeney will be too timid to pull the trigger with a top system prospect at this deadline. I see Sweeney making similar moves to last season.

NJ would have to take Backes to make the deal work. A 1st and Vaakanainen is a big pay for Palmieri and I don’t care what Coleman returned. If Backes isn’t included I wouldn’t make that trade if I’m Sweeney.

yupp thats why I have gallant as actually developing us, but it sure would be nice to have a legit system that works and a coach who holds everyone accountable to work.
Watching the game last night, I cant tell you how many times palms or someone else who should know better makes it easy on cbj to break out by trying to chop the stick and knock the puck down rather than taking the body. First man in has to take the body, and it shows that when merkley was on the ice, columbus was making more mistakes. its that simple. Good thing is Gallant does coach that way as well.
How we can be using the same system for 5 years and still not taking the body on the forecheck is puzzling

I guess I really only did this post to see what some returns could actually look like given now that we see what Coleman gave us. Id like to keep Palmieri and agree we need Vet presence, and he may be in line to become our next C, but if the return is too great I cant see Fitz turning it down. A big part of the draft this year will be if Van makes the playoffs. That 3rd extra first round pick this year instead of next can be a complete game changer.</div></div>
<strong><em>Yeah Van just in and out in the first rd, Yotes just out and a lottery pick at 4 OA!</em></strong>
Agree on Palms it is just this team could be tough to watch next yr bc of how green they might be!

Before Ceci got hurt he was a good piece to take back. Now he's injured doe not make much diff to Tor.
I'd dropped the 2nd and add from our side to get Lilj, probably becomes Dermott in the end. Tor will hate it, but thats ok. If they have another 1 yr cap dump we should take it.
I see you amended the Minny trade, interesting you kept our 2021, probably the right move as Van first may be a good one. It is conditional though, if they don't make the POs they keep it. So the 1st you're giving Minny should be too! I think Simmonds get a third this yr. I'd keep Woody, but move Sami for a first from Car. I like Palms, gotta keep one vet no?

Uncoachable? Wood? That's a new one!
I quite honestly think Wood has taken his directives from our bonehead coaches way too much to heart!
When he was wheeling and hitting things he was a much better player pre-suspension, (thought-wise) Now he always hesitates and the play passes him by.
He woudl be twice the player if he got back to flyin Miles!

Hockey Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wings41326</b></div><div>The reasoning behind this trade is that NJ knows what Simmonds brings but given Gals struggles, a change of scenery could greatly benefit him. Especially in NJ where there will be little to no pressure. Both are expiring but Pitt could see Simmonds leadership and tenacity as a plus for a deep playoff run. Nj could then use the small sample size which is the rest of the 2019-2020 season after the TDL to see how Gal fits into the lineup and how he performs. If he turns things around, plays well with the young guys NJ has, then NJ could feel more comfortable throwing him an offer in FA having somewhat of an idea how Gal slots in, rather than hoping for the best how this last FA went.</div></div>
This was my thinking too on this trade

yeah I mean from my perspective. NJ would seem to want some kind of future asset if they made this deal.
How much, I don't know that. Part of it is what else is out there and how he has actually played this year which just gauging from the stats and the few games I have seen him play isn't all to well, much like Chucky.
I would say yeah, a 4th is probably right. But who knows.

Of Course the problem is. Why would NJ do this?
Simmons is on an expiring deal. Chucky is on an expiring deal. And if NJ was in a playoff position I would be like, ok, one under performer for another. But they are out.
There really isn't anything here for them to gain. Much like Buffalo making a hockey trade like Chucky for Vesey now. I don't see the point for them.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nabnuke</b></div><div>speaking only for the penguins trade, not something I've really thought of or considered. I'd like to think the Devils would want more than just a swap. Would be really interesting to see Simmonds on the Pens.</div></div>
