Free Ville
If you add Regula via waivers, gotta keep him on roster or risk losing him. A claim isn’t treated same as clearing waivers.

The stanley experiment is done
They could just wait a couple of years and sign him for free. :tearsofjoy Just kidding.
I think the odds of Stanley hitting waivers are relatively low, but the likelihood of being the 7th/8th defenseman is high.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>arafay</b></div><div>Fair enough. Probably is too early. Might still pay you a visit to move schmidt 😉. We really need to make some room on the blue line</div></div>
I know the feeling:
Feb 16th Detroit resigned Maatta 2 x $3M
Feb 28th Detroit resigns Walman 3 x $3.5M
July 1st Detroit signs Holl 3 x $3.4M
July 1st Detroit signs Gostisbehere 1 x $4.125M
Aug 15th Detroit trades for Petry 2 x $2.3M
Chiarot has 3 x $4.75M left
Seider isn't going anywhere for a very long time.
Plus Edvinsson and Johansson are very close and Wallinder won't be far behind them.
So I really don't see Detroit taking on anymore defensemen unless you want to take Chiarot or Holl back with you.

We can explore it and I would be opposed to it but I doubt it happens. Petry said he has dreamed about playing for the Wings and I think Yzerman wanted the extra retention because he has no intension of trading him, Without a Stanley Cup maybe he goes to a contender but if that does happen I think it will be next year so he doesn't have up root his family. That's just what I think and it could be entirely wrong.
He is going to wear his dads number 46 which is pretty cool.

Looked good last pre season. I’d like to think he gets his 9 games if anyone is out of the lineup. I could see him in a temporary top six role.

Barring any trades or significant injuries to the Jets, I doubt Lambert makes the team out of camp.

Depending on how the season goes, he's likely a first call up after any moves (Nino or Scheifele).

Small defensemen are the future, and Seamus Casey is secretly a forward. I unironically think he will make the NHL as a center.

That’s my opinion. As for being on LTIR half the season, ehlers also is but we don’t say that. I’m going for potential here and daws has some I think.
I don’t understand the Casey high (like he’s good but not to the level I’m understanding others think imo). But I can downgrade the prospect as explained above. I’m okay with that.
I’d like to play heinola and Dillon can play a solid leadership role and is a bigger leader than schmidt. I’d move schmidt if I had the chance to play heinola.</div></div>
I think Dillon should replace Schiefele as Assistant Captain next season

Ya I would be still shopping, would be my ready or not, sink or swim and adjust as we go sort of hope, that he runs with it and scheifele beside him if needed. If I’m selling helly, my main target is a buy low bargain young center, and project rhd dman and possibly a tender of some sort depending on offset cap.

Obviously losing Little really affected PP#2 but Maurice, papa Lowry and Bones player usage hasn't helped it any since either. Hopefully with some health and better options both PP groups will be better and underperformers won't be seeing time on the man advantage.</div></div>
I saw a tweet about Bryan Little a week or so ago. He won his age category in an ironman triathlon. Little finished first by over five minutes, with #2 through 4 finishing within one minute of each other.

Jets are fun to project their possible lines with the new additions. The Vilardi deal is a great value whether he is anywhere in the top 6 or even the 3C. He does seem to be destined to play Center in Winnipeg so he'll need a playmaker on one of his wings.

I like it! Great AAV and still under team control. I figure Vilardi went this way so he could cash in after 2 years and WPG gets some piece of mind just in case (god forbid), the injury bug bites again.

Yes great deal imo, WPG gets fair value, and he expires an RFA still.
I think a lot of people were suspecting more which I don't understand because he only broke out this season and seemed like LA was pretty close too giving up on him before the season. This gives Vilardi a chance to truly prove he is the player he was last season. And WPG doesn't risk giving a hefty contract to a guy who could be a '1 year wonder'. Not saying he is that, but too me it's a valid concern to have.

I don't think there are anytakers for Schmidts contract unfortunatley. I like the guy but not worth the price.
