Winnipeg Jets signed Vladislav Namestnikov (2 Years / $2,000,000 AAV)
Welcome back Vladdy! I liked his stint in WPG and the price point is perfect. Not an earth shattering signing by any means but gives us depth. I like it.

If you go to ECF your 1st can't be top 5?

Pretty much, he said Perfetti was "drafted as a centre" and it came across to me that Perfetti will get an opportunity there.

I'd for sure bring Namestnikov back if they want to compete for the playoffs, can move around the lineup and play center, why not, every time he was traded for a 4th I said 'why didn't Chevy make that trade?'... lol
I just don't see them bottoming out and with Wheeler gone I think Scheifele will be a different player so would consider keeping him.
The Dubois trade did make the overall forward group better so hopefully Chevy keeps that going and keeps adding legit NHL forwards.
With the cap crunch around the league could this be the year Chevy adds an at least moderately decent UFA like Matty Perreault was?

The Blues deal offers two players at positions the Blues have a surplus of. If they move Parayko they have to find a replacement in that deal I’d imagine

Not bad deal honestly. I dont think the picks would be involved as shown though. Maybe just a single 2nd rounder with no 3rd from WPG.

As for what a prospective deal could look like, my understanding is that no talks have taken place with Gabe Vilardi's camp on an extension - he's an arbitration eligible RFA on July

Retooling
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>arafay</b></div><div>Yes, but the jets don’t need cap space next year. They can easily retain on wheeler and move on. No point in tying up cap next year when you might need it, vs now when you definitely don’t. All while saving real dollars, which does matter to a small market team like the jets.</div></div>
I agree, the actual dollars definitely matter to the Jets. Not sure of your point, though . . . you start by saying the Jets don't need cap space next year, then you go on to say they may need it next season as a reason to trade him and retain half his salary. (?) And you say they can easily retain on him and move on; I think it's likely that the same can be said about buying him out---if the owner can stomach the extra million or so, of course! It's quite doubtful they'll be flirting with the cap ceiling next season, especially if/when the cap rises as predicted.
Anyway, I'm sure we'll have our answer soon enough! But hey, if they can get some team to deal a 2nd rounder for him, absolutely they should retain half his salary and bd done with it!!
(Again, it just won't be Seattle! Lol)^^

Retooling
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>arafay</b></div><div>We can, but it’s cheaper money wise to retain half.</div></div>
All it would save is 1.375 million in actual total $$, but that should only concern Chipman! Capwise, if I'm Chevy, I don't want to retain anything more than 3 million if trading Wheeler for some sort of return. To buy him out is only 2.75 on the cap this year and next, neither of which should likely be a problem . . . especially if cap goes up considerably next season as forecasted.

What is PHI looking for?</div></div>
I agree Schmidt is a solid player but the flyers aren’t looking to take him on unless u dump him because they are rebuilding I would say 1st, 2nd, Holtz, Schmidt would be a fair deal because it is a decent amount for Hart but also factors in dumping Schmidt who does make a good amount

I know it says ANY TEAM, but I think even with retention it might be optimistic to expect a 2nd Rounder for Wheeler at this point. (especially Seattle!). Buying him out would cost less against the cap this year, but I guess if WPG can get <em>some</em> kind of decent return for him by retaining 1/2 his salary, they should go for it.

Arguably the best possible fit for Dubois realistically and the best chance for him to go deep into the playoffs anytime soon. I wonder if he realizes that. And an eminently fair trade on value, too. Well done.
