Thinking Out Loud
I think the move is light for CHI to consider. that 1st is slated to be late in the round and the prospects aren't high end enough to part with Cat,

Post Expansion Draft Offseason Out of date
A lot of pieces in Ducks trade but I’d assume they’re looking for more quality and less quantity.
That Svech deal isn’t a bridge deal - that walks him to UFA. 2-3 years is more likely, 5 isn’t happening.

The ducks can’t trade both Manson and Rakell and not get a single first round pick. Come one man, this trade is terrible.
On a side note, the ducks will get a better package by trading them separately.

Off Season Idea Without Hamilton
Like everyone else said this is really well done, I like the Anaheim trade a lot for the Canes but Idk if Anaheim would take it, it’s probably close though.
I think it may be optimistic to think Gardiner to LTIR, but would be nice. Also not sure we should be so ready to hand Svech that contract quite yet

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bass8151</b></div><div>I really do hate the Ducks, but what they have coming up in the system soon really is impressive and they could be a super scary team if these prospects develop properly. They could really bring that rebuild to a great spot if they sell off all of those guys. The only one I would say that really should stay is Getzlaf despite his value on a trade market, he could be a good role model to all the players coming in and be a good leader for them. But if he was shipped off I wouldn't be surprised.</div></div>
How can you hate a duck? They're cute little birds. Getz might want to retire a duck, so he could be back for one more year....or he may take the league minimum to join a cup contender so he can get another ring to bookend his career.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bass8151</b></div><div>I think that is an interesting thought experiment, and you really do have a good point. It is possible a team really can be desperate and pay more come the deadline, but I think if the Ducks can move him now, for good value (doesn't have to be the Canes) I think you have to take it. Because while you may get more now, they could get hurt. It is me projecting a bit, but I am a huge believer in get the best value when you can, knowing there is the least risk of losing that value due to injury.</div></div>
Yah, the key here is that Anaheim needs to fully embrace a rebuild. Which means goodbye Getzlaf, Shattenkirk and Henrique. They have some interesting kids who need a shot.

Interesting trade between two teams that are clearly on two different paths. I see why Carolina would do this as Manson and Rakell are quality players, and their round 1 pick isn't a top 10. The question would be from Anaheim and whether they think they can get a better deal from another team at the trade deadline for a 'rental UFA'.

Really good thought process and rationale on a lot of this. I’m with you on the defensive end especially although I believe the value on those contracts especially for Suter would have to be higher.
I do think we need a more impactful top 6 scoring winger though. Bringing in Rakell is good but maybe drop him to third and bring in a guy like Saad for the second line. Might be able to get McGinn to stay for a little bit less and use some of that money on Saad.
Good job overall tho!

Love both trades. I'd rather have Stecher as 3 RD than Fleury. I also think the Iafallo trade is a bit of a steal, so we might have to add more. Hope Waddell sees this. Two great adds for a playoff run.

The absolute first thing the Canes should be doing is getting rid of Reimer for anything as long as Mrazek is back by TDL.

I think we want a first and a prospect for Iafallo, not a player and a low pick -- we just traded for Brendan Lemieux, so we're overloaded at LW

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bass8151</b></div><div>It caught me off guard why they would want to move him, but i believe i saw somewhere they wanted to work with an internal cap next year? I could be wrong if I saw it but even still thats a hard player to replace unless they are going after like hall</div></div>
I dont think they want to move him tbh. Months ago an edmontons radio guy said DeBrusk was worth $6m. Later DeBrusk agent said he wasnt going to take a hometown discount...but in the same sentence said he wouldn't rule it out either lol.
I think its just a lot of speculation and people looking for things to generate clicks and views. Not saying they won't trade him, but they only do it if DeBrusk contract demands are too high or they get a deal for him that improves the deal and is a no-brainer.

Debrusk for Bean ++, I think Bean could be good with Carlo. Sign Hall with the Krug money

Debrusk and a 3rd for Pesce
or
Debrusk for Necas and a 2nd
as for Kuemper.. you would have to overpay pretty heavily for a goalie that good and that cheap for two years. I dont see Arizona moving him for anything less than a 1st and a solid young player that most teams would not want to give up. Like a Necas or Hayden Fleury in CAR's case along with a 1st.</div></div>
Really great analysis and conclusions. Impressive.

Moving debrusk is tough for Boston unless they sign an ufa to replace him or have some major move to improve the top 6. There is really no in house replacement.

yeah I dont really know who or what CAR has interest in moving I was just trying to find a value perspective. I like the Bean plus for Debrusk best though.

Idk how either of those scenarios can be a HUUUUGE over payment lol. Necas is an up and coming prospect and a 2nd... and Pesce is a very good shut down dman who I value slighly more than Debrusk so BOS gives a pick as well..
