Off Season Idea Without Hamilton
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jim_Benning_Almost</b></div><div>Interesting trade between two teams that are clearly on two different paths. I see why Carolina would do this as Manson and Rakell are quality players, and their round 1 pick isn't a top 10. The question would be from Anaheim and whether they think they can get a better deal from another team at the trade deadline for a 'rental UFA'.</div></div>
I think that is an interesting thought experiment, and you really do have a good point. It is possible a team really can be desperate and pay more come the deadline, but I think if the Ducks can move him now, for good value (doesn't have to be the Canes) I think you have to take it. Because while you may get more now, they could get hurt. It is me projecting a bit, but I am a huge believer in get the best value when you can, knowing there is the least risk of losing that value due to injury.

Off Season Idea Without Hamilton
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vikhodush</b></div><div>Really good thought process and rationale on a lot of this. I’m with you on the defensive end especially although I believe the value on those contracts especially for Suter would have to be higher.
I do think we need a more impactful top 6 scoring winger though. Bringing in Rakell is good but maybe drop him to third and bring in a guy like Saad for the second line. Might be able to get McGinn to stay for a little bit less and use some of that money on Saad.
Good job overall tho!</div></div>
Thank you so much! I think a lot of this is really up in the air when it comes to value. I know Suter's agent said a team would have to pay him to earn his services, and its a huge guess. I could see Suter for sure earning in the 2.5 range for sure. The way the defense operates has to change without Hamilton, I think shoring it up and making it just "tougher" to play against all together would make the Canes a much tougher out, come playoffs.
Saad I think would be a fantastic fit for this team and I really thought about a way to add him in, but I truly didn't see a way without losing McGinn and I value what McGinn would bring especially if the Canes lose both Foegele and Fast. And I do think McGinn could see a price drop but I think he is looking for a decent raise past the 2.1 he has been earning. Maybe something in the 2.5-3 mil range is better?
Thank you for the response! Gave me a little bit to think about!!

2021 Trade Deadline Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div>The absolute first thing the Canes should be doing is getting rid of Reimer for anything as long as Mrazek is back by TDL.</div></div>
I get the mindset, and if you can improve goalie wise sure, but having Reimer as your 3rd isnt bad, as long as ned and Mraz get the starts then it works out. Reimer has this problem where once he starts playing more than say 2 games a week, he starts to deteriorate and i think it is his injury history and a groin made of glass. I dont think selling him is too vital unless you are moving him for cap space for a bigger move.

I get that for sure, a mid pick may not get it done, but the thing is for some reason a lot of teams value foegele a lot despite his hockey iq being questionable, so that was my thinking. and the mid pick is what it is, i am more than happy giving up a second and possibly a first, but I have a feeling the canes would only make a move of their first rounder if it is to get someone with term ala Arvidsson.
Foegele plays both sides, but I still find the move for Lemieux questionable but its a low risk move.

For sure, I can def see more value being added. Its hard to gauge value for me, so I am very open to more being added, I was mainly looking at the concepts of the deal than the values, I sorta just guessed what could be in that value in the trade

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>I'd be ok with this. I wouldn't mind him signing with CAR next year as long as its a very affordable contract. It could allow Trocheck to swap a bit between wing and center. Hes capable of both.
My hesitation is that marc might try to come too...we already have two Marc Staals in Skjei and Gardiner...we don't need them let alone another meh dman.</div></div>
I am sure if Eric wanted to reup here it would be affordable, he is 35+ so it will probably be one year deals only at this point. It would be a staal party lol, but I doubt marc tries to come here unless the taxi squad concept last. But to compare gardiner to staal is an insult to gardiner, he has been good this season it is just sucks he had to be put on waivers due to that back injury, if he was healthy he would still get lots of reps in games.
But I am also done with Skjei. Let Gards thrive with pesce.

With trocheck out right now it would help to have an actual center playing some minutes, and there is always a need to improve, he is better than most of the people in your bottom six and can still produce. I would rather have a vet like him come in and provide some meaningful support. He is also better than a forth line player even on this team, he would fit in well on the third line with Jordan and Fast/Mcginn you could add someone to your powerplay too who can make an already good powerplay better. Lots or reasons to add someone like him who will overall be cheaper than a Granlund type.

I wouldn't trade for Skjei or Gardiner. Not sure who's available for CAR among their forwards. Personally I like Necas but don't see CAR moving him/he wouldn't play C in Boston either.</div></div>
As far as I know the only forwards available are Nino and Dzingel and the LD sorta depends cause you could do bean? Could be sheltered to replace Krugs role on the PP

Debrusk and a 3rd for Pesce

as for Keumper.. you would have to overpay pretty heavily for a goalie that good and that cheap for two years. I dont see Arizona moving him for anything less than a 1st and a solid young player that most teams would not want to give up. Like a Necas or Hayden Fleury in CAR's case along with a 1st.</div></div>
I would see the former for debrusk, i think necas is on the untouchables list.
I have been seeing that bean reimer and some picks would make sense and maybe create some fair value for both teams

I hope it helps Arizona too, Bill Armstrong has a hard task ahead of him, and hope for the fans they can have a real good team soon. Beans a helluva start.
