return for marner from every team p2 Columbus to Montreal
CBJ pass. Not worth it as a rental, and not worth the next contract he is going to sign.

Paying Helly 8.5mil when he's 37 will probably suck but if CBJ can get a reliable vet in as a free agent/trade for a year or 2 until Mateychuk and 4OA are ready, this team gets a lot better quickly. When Elvis/Tarasov/Jet were playing well this year, the Jackets were a decent team.</div></div>
I wouldn't. We don't have a comparable RHD and the guys likely available at 4OA are primarily LHDs.

Jackets decline as much as I would like helly, he’s not worth our best defensive prospect. Especially at his age and he’s getting a huge pay bump next year. Doubt he waives either

I wouldn't even move one of 4OA or Jiricek for Marner, let alone both.
The fact that you've got Laine at 1C and Fantilli on the 3rd line, though, should tell you something...stick to the Leafs OP.

TBL offseason moves v7
I have to agree with <a href="/users/CertifiedAverage" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@CertifiedAverage</a>, this feels like a TDL move for both Columbus and Tampa, but I do like it for both teams.

TBL offseason moves v7
If Mateychuk really impresses and they get someone like Brenden Dillon in the off-season, I can see CBJ trading Provorov with 50 % retention to TBL for at least a 1st before the start of the season. I see the proposed trade as something for the TDL, since I'd imagine that they'd want to keep Danforth at least until the TDL, unless they think that he can be replaced by Brindley. My guess would be that they would like to keep Danforth and have Brindley in the AHL to start with.
All in all, I think it's a good trade for Columbus and Tampa Bay, though I imagine that this particular suggestion is more likely to take place at the TDL. But you never know.

Moving on from the core 4
That's a big 'ole nothingburger for the majority of Columbus' leadership group. Hard pass from Columbus. Jenner is untouchable, and Gudbranson has more value internally as a leader on the 3rd pair than actual trade value. Both are going nowhere.

I appreciate the write-up, but man the one thing CBJ aren’t lacking is depth.
We need high-end T6 guys, not more B6 dudes.

Why are the jackets swapping provorov and adding assets for chychrun when he won’t be re signed? Would rather half retain on provorov at the deadline to get a better return

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Prime_Jimbo</b></div><div>Ok fit wise, makes sense. But value definitely favors CBJ imo.</div></div>
As a Canucks fan, I kind of disagree.
Silovs has been great, and may have a good future, but that probably doesn't give him a lot of trade value yet - his track record isn't large enough. This would be the equivalent of trading Hronek and maybe two 2nds for Boone Jenner (a solid middle-six centre who is on a great contract), Boqvist (meh), and Kent Johnson (really high upside).
Hronek may normally have a high value case, but his contract status really complicates things, particularly given what is is asking. And fit affects value, so for Columbus, the value of Hronek may not be as high...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Prime_Jimbo</b></div><div>Really?</div></div>
Really, what? An RFA RHD who’s about to demand 8+ million a year has no value to a Columbus team with Damon Severson under contract forever and a top prospect who’s NHL ready with no spot as it is. Someone needs Hronek, but it isn’t Columbus. And that’s not even getting into what OP is demanding in return for the piece Columbus doesn’t want.

That’s a hard pass from the jackets. Don’t need hronek and can’t afford his new deal. Jenner isn’t being traded and neither is Kent.

Based on the Tkachuk Trade
A couple of issues with comparing your proposed Columbus trade to the Tkachuk deal:
1. Tkachuk was an RFA who basically had a shortlist of teams he'd sign long term with. So any team making a trade for him would be able to lock him up for several years, as Florida did. Marner could use his NMC to do the same, giving Toronto a chance to extract more value, but that's not a given. For the time being, he's a rental until proven otherwise.
2. The two roster players Calgary got in return, Huberdeau and Weegar, were both one year away from free agency at the time of the trade. Both ended up extending, but for a while there it was looking like both would be one year rentals. By contrast, both Jenner and Werenski are under contract for several more seasons. As a result, they hold more trade value and Columbus will be less likely to part with them.
3. At the time of the Tkachuk trade, the Panthers were coming off a Presidents' trophy win. Tkachuk was viewed by Florida as the final piece they needed for a cup push. By contrast, Columbus is coming off a season where they finished 4th worst in the league and are not one piece away from contention. Trading multiple key players and draft picks for Marner when they are still rebuilding isn't a move that makes sense for them.

No one involved in the Tkachuk trade had trade protection. Literally every player you've chosen here does. Not to mention there are no equivalencies at all between the players involved.

And Boqvist would need to take a <em>massive</em> step forward in order to play 2nd pairing on a contender.</div></div>
Going by how he performed alongside Werenski this past year, that massive step forward would conist exclusively of staying healthy.

When you find yourself still adding more and more pieces to one side of a trade to make it more fair, it's a bad trade.
