My Ideal Trade Deadline
I love the thought put into this and I agree with it all.
Boone and Foligno would really help this team, especially after watching Foligno cause all kinds of issues for the Leafs last year in the play-ins.
Jamie Oleksiak has been a favourite of mine for awhile, but he is a free agent this summer so if he wants to come to Toronto he can in the offseason. I like the addition of Hamonic for depth.
As for the goalies, I’ve been paying attention to Ullmark since the start of the season and I wouldn’t mind overpaying a little to get him. If Kuemper’s injury isn’t much longer lasting then we can’t really go wrong with either of them.
I don’t think Joe Thornton on the first line will get us through the playoffs. I would try to keep Engvall and add something else to the trade if needed.
My lines would look like this:
Hyman - Matthews - Marner
Foligno - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - Jenner - Mikheyev
Simmonds - Spezza - Boyd
*Thornton, Vesey
Rielly - Brodie
Muzzin - Holl
Dermott - Bogo
*Hamonic, Sandin
Kuemper/Ullmark
Campbell
*Hutch

I don't think CBJ retain on Boone Jenner. They would on Foligno but not next year on Jenner.

It wasnt done because Arizona has Raanta and Hill and does not need another goalie back

All of these deals seem pretty reasonable. You may need to add a bit more in the Columbus trade

I love Boone, and Nick. I do feel we need to upgrade our goalie...so if we cant i honestly don't see the point in the Leafs making any deals till the off season. But these are all good adds to the team Cheers.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Haula and Granlund certainly aren't an improvement over Kerfoot and Engvall. So do you want to give up the rest for 1.5 years of Ekblom? Leafs lose term on the forwards and also the over two weeks before those three incomers can even practice.</div></div>
You don't need to worry because the Preds would not accept this.

I really like the Jenner target. Versatile forward who can play just about anywhere in the lineup. Grit. Good leader. Good contract to expose for draft if needed. Just what would it take to get him? I'm not sure at this point.

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Ilya Mikheyev (2 Years / $1,645,000 AAV)
I did a little bit of math. In Canada, you can get a 4 pack of Campbells soup for just shy of 7 dollars. With Mikheyev's new contract of $1645000 per year, he is able to purchase over 940 000 cans of soup. The soup man is officially souped out.... if it is his fuel, look out

im pretty sure thats the plan cause realistically whose gonna take him. Heck if there is no AHL season the NHL may allow a taxi squad like with the playoffs. But they got till January to figure that out.

defence
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jack_</b></div><div>defense isnt really the problem. the Leafs are right between Arizona and the Islanders in xGA. both are noted fantastic defensive teams but the leafs are right there. their inability to prevent cross seam passes definitely skews the numbers a bit but the real problem is freddy. Hes been horrible this season</div></div>
xGA and GA are completely different stats. xGA has a lot more attributes then just cross passes and goalie performance, its also based on time spent in the defensive zone vs offensive. Both of Arizona and NYI are not super strong offensively thus the play will more then often be in their own zone thus raising their expected goals against by quite a bit. On the other hand Toronto is a very skilled team offensively and will usually not be playing in their own end. The fact that Toronto is 3rd last in the league for total goals against is a clear indication of their lacking defensive ability. Sure they are offensively strong but that's the sole factor as to why they are currently in a playoff spot. Also, many times this year Andersen has stood on his head to bail out this team
