PLAYOFFS LINES
That 2nd line would cost the leafs a playoff series. They don't get back defensively from the o-zone. JT-too slow, Domi- low IQ d-zone responsibility, Willie- just likes to float to much and skates past his coverage guy all the time.

Playoff Roster
Last I heard Dumba has HORRIFIC defensive metrics. 4th for Maroon is a bit steep, but I would love to get him. I would rather keep Jones for depth and send a guy like Holmberg or Gregor down, so we keep our goalie depth.

The Minimalist Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>brett</b></div><div>I agree with the lets not go all in at least until JT comes off the books - I don't know if that is enough to get it done might have to give up a prospect that isn't Minten or Cowan. And I'd keep Benoit and McCabe together!</div></div>
He is a UFA, wouldnt cost more than that. Florida is going to eat up this defence. Maybe they go for two physical D like a Seeler and Borgen(for example) at a the same price. I agree with not using many future assets this year but I also don’t want to leave these guys hung out to dry against Florida. Get a few players with edge to at least be able to fight back.

The Blues have zero cap or need for either of those players. So something has to give elsewhere.

LEAF TEAM
So SJS take on 20 mil in cap space and retain 3.5 mil for 4 years, give up a 2nd for a late 1st and a forward that doesn't fit into a rebuild. That is one of the most wild trades I've seen.

Why would Mathews stay
Not sure why you'd retain when Detroit has a ton of cap space. But I doubt Brodie would waive and it looks like Yzerman will fill the holes in the roster with UFAs for the second straight season.

If Barstool tweets something out then Dubas will definitely make sure he follow their lead........
Kadri getting many suspensions in a row is what got him traded, along with depth at C and not a single RD in the lineup

Yeah that makes sense, point per game winger with 2 years left in Nylander fetching a smaller return than rental Mark Giordano. Makes a lot of sense honestly. After this, why don’t we trade Matthews for a late 1st and 3rd line winger

Mrazek would be solid to play a chunk of the season to let demmer rest, kerfoot could bounce back if given the chance, the second is good, and ripped willy is a no brainer. I think this is one of the better done brock boeser trade proposals out there. Toronto could sweeten the pot with a mid round pick and pierre engvall which also helps Leafs with making the cap work.

Other than Kase being on the 4th line it’s about freaking time someone else but moved Spezza up in the lineup. I’d go:
Nylander Matthews Spezza
Bunting Tavares Marner
Engvall Kampf Kase
Ritchie Kerfoot Simmonds

I think the Leafs try and squeeze Simmer through waivers like they did Spezza last year. I think thats why they gave him two years and a NTC, teams are less likely to claim him

Lets Roll Leafs
Don't get the idea behind giving away Dermott. If he's an asset in a trade that makes the team better, maybe - but to just toss a guy we found in the 2nd round, drafted from the ground up, who's 23, and shows some potential top 4 upside ... idk.
I'd say this is his last year to prove it, but at the same time, 23 is pretty young for a defenseman, he might randomly figure it out one day
