That part doesn't make any sense though, why is Knies going JUST to dump Holl? Holl doesn't even have negative value, let alone "trade away your best prospect" negative value.

Team Canada - if WCOH happened Fall 2022
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LeafsForLife</b></div><div>This roster looks good, there's 3 Leafs on the roster, and I'm surprised there's no one better than Suzuki as the 13th forward or better Canadian goalies.</div></div>
Honestly, lots of options for the bottom forwards but I like Suzuki's versatility. Could go with other guys like Kyrou, Barzal, Reinhart, a vet like Duchene, O'Reilly, or Kadri, some physicality with Wilson, the list goes on.
Canadian goaltending has fallen off quite a lot recently! Price being seemingly done, Fleury falling off, and young guys like Hart (and even Blackwood) stagnating has really hurt the pool.

Both Suzuki and Chabot would make the team in this scenario, they're just listed as scratches in this roster. But sure, both could obviously move up into the lineup.
Barzal has had kind of a few down years in a row, I'm not sure I could justify him bumping any of the players on the roster.

Team Canada Whenever The Next Canada Cup Is
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ReginaSask</b></div><div>But why is Kane tied into this? The guy had nothing to do with it. You named players who were on the WJC team. You think these cancel culture people will want them on a future Team Canada? Of course not. They’ll demand every player connected to that team never play for Canada again. Hockey Canada has to stand up to them and say “to hell with you we want to win”.</div></div>
I didn't say Kane had anything to do with the current issues, but he has a PILE of his own off-ice issues and I do think HC not wanting any further controversy will play a role. Kane isn't McDavid or a similar player who is so good that they'd look past his issues. When there are 5-10 viable options for a spot, and you're the option that comes with baggage, you are going to be looked upon less favourably.
Also, this whole "to hell with behaviour issues, we want to win" is a large part of how Hockey Canada got themselves into the current situation.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ReginaSask</b></div><div>I’m pretty sure they will still want a winning team. The drama is being ramped up by the media and politicians. If Team Canada is ever picked to satisfy media and politicians we might as well quit playing</div></div>
The drama is really created by the whole "Hockey Canada systematically covering up rapes", specific media members have just uncovered their skeletons but HC is definitely 100% at fault here.
The nice thing about Canada is that we have many other capable forwards who can fill the Kane role. If you want sandpaper, there's guys like Tom Wilson or even Kadri. If you want more skill, there's Robert Thomas or Jordan Kyrou. Want a veteran who can play centre or shift to wing? Tavares or Matt Duchene are both coming off solid years and similarly aged.
We have so many great options up front, I think they'll be able to assemble a winning team regardless.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ReginaSask</b></div><div>If Kane continues to play like he has with McDavid you take him and tell the media to pound sand. I’d much rather have our best player playing with his favourite line mate. I have no idea when we will see the next tournament, I’m guessing maybe 2024?</div></div>
I guess it also just depends on whether we think Kane is one of the 12/13 best forwards, especially a 33 year old Kane if we're going for a Fall 2024 tournament. He's produced pretty well with McDavid during their short time together, but I would also believe that there are a lot of Canadian players who would produce on the left side with McDavid and Marner.
A lot can change in two full NHL seasons, and if Kane puts up consecutive 40 goal seasons on McDavid's wing and stays out of trouble I think there's a chance. But banking on sustained excellent play from a player who has literally never had sustained excellent play and on the downside of their career when there are many other, equally good Canadian forwards might be a small reach.

I generally don't mind this team, obviously depending on timeline (i.e. if it's sooner, Bergeron and likely Kuemper are on the team rather than McTavish and one of the goalies).
I think the most glaring issue I would see with this team is Kane. I know he has been doing pretty well with McDavid in Edmonton and HC traditionally likes to keep "pairs" of players together. But, Kane seems so far from the type of player that Hockey Canada typically goes for and I would imagine given the mess they've put themselves in they probably distance themselves from ANYONE with even a hint of controversy or character issues.
Good team overall, I think I would probably swap Stamkos to 1LW, Mackinnon to 2RW, and Stone with Marchand and Crosby. Depth pieces and more speculative players (Bedard, McTavish) I think will depend on how the next few years go.

But there is "ignore list" for a reason..... So long stupid homer.</div></div>
Not a homer, I know plenty about other teams - that's how I knew 20 year old Nylander was better than 20 year old Mercer. If you think Johnsson for Nylander is a fair trade, I suppose I could also interest you in Engvall for Jesper Bratt?
You want to talk about actual hockey? I've got all the time in the world for people who aren't complete dip****s [seriously - capfriendly censors posts??]. But you're a useless troll and since this forum seems entirely filled with useless trolls, then you're correct, I probably won't stay long.

Nylander concept instead of KerfootHoll
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Sorry you fail to comprehend trade value. Leafs need cap and I don't think Nylander will be trade but Kerfoot will. Pacioritty and Nylander's production are the same, and the only difference is Nylander has one more year of control till he's a UFA. Silly to think that Devils would give up 20 year old Mercer who scored 17 goals last season. Gee, where was Nylander playing when he was 20?, and good first round pick too. Gee, dream on that the Leafs can get a good return on Nylander without taking similar cap back in a trade.</div></div>
Where was Nylander playing when he was 20? In the NHL, putting up 20+ goals and around 60 points. I also didn't suggest Mercer + a 1st, I just suggested you were a moron for saying Johnsson = Nylander in a trade. And I stand by that.
Have fun trolling though, real fulfilling existence that must be.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>There are so many teams close to the cap they need to dump cap....and the Leafs might be one of those teams.
Nylander's TRADE value? 7m X 2 years. Think of of the return for that Vegas got for 7m X 1 year Max Pacioretty, , 70 point a year player....zero return. That's closer to Nylander's TRADE value, than two first rounders. Johnson retained for Nylander....maybe that's the trade.</div></div>
This is entirely deranged. You seriously think the going rate for a ~ppg forward on a good contract in their prime is a mediocre middle-six winger just because of one isolated trade with special circumstances? Vegas HAD to clear cap, Toronto does not have to trade Nylander. Like honestly - in what world is "a player worse in every conceivable way" the fair return for Nylander?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DougieGilmour</b></div><div>A team that scored goals left and right needs more scoring? Ya that makes sense. Scoring is the only reason we even have a playoff team. Now the goaltending took a major dip with that idiotic move to bring in a washed up goalie. We need defence not scoring</div></div>
Our defense is very good, and while our offense is also very good it's heavily centred on the first two lines. Improving the offensive usefulness of the fourth line especially would go a long way. It makes us harder to line-match against in the playoffs when our bottom six can win their matchups.
Our goaltending was terrible for most of last season. I don't necessarily think Murray or Samsonov will be great but expect them to break even at least.

This website is free and yet reading this post still felt like a waste of money.
Despite removing all restrictions and using magical thinking, you've still managed to make a worse team than the one we currently have.

Final Touches
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TMLBRIAN</b></div><div>Cap Space. The Leafs are currently over after signing Jarnkrok and still have Sandin to sign. Unless they trade Nylander (unlikely), Muzzin (has a full NTC but more likely than Nylander), Kerfoot (most likely).
I would be very happy to keep Kerfoot if the Leafs unload Muzzin but it doesn't seem probable at this point.</div></div>
I think, just as much as cap space, is redundancy. By adding Jarnkrok and re-signing Engvall, we have a couple other players who are filling a similar role. So, unless Kerfoot is going on JT's wing again, there just isn't a natural spot for him in the lineup.

You absolutely do not need to pay to trade Kerfoot. Did Ottawa pay to trade Connor Brown? I'd expect Kerfoot to get a similar package to Brown or what Jarnkrok went for around the deadline last year. Versatile middle-six players have value.

Leafs - Muzzin trade

Jake Muzzin is a declining 33 year old, injury prone, at best 2nd pair LD with a 6mil contract for the next 2 years ending in UFA.
Do the math here.
There's so much wrong with this trade. Do Leafs fans just create new profiles to troll everyone else, specifically Kings fans?</div></div>
Man, Anderson is a decent player but he's kind of only your 1LD because you don't have any decent LD...
I'll admit it might have been a bit of a stretch, but I guess I didn't realize how highly you valued him. Can remove him from the trade then, 2nd and some kind of money coming back is probably a reasonable return for Muzzin. Wagner, maybe Walker.
