50 pt centre/winger who is very fast and great on the penalty kill? Very similar contract to Connor Brown. He is in the same league as Connor Brown who just got a 2nd round pick. I added a 4th since Kerfoot has more offensive upside. BUT 2nd round pick is very reasonable of a return from Calgary.

If Calgary is dumb enough to dump futures away for a guy that is a UFA and a 2nd/3rd liner then good for you take the deal. I guessing they aren’t that dumb.

Arizona need bodies and they can resell Holl at the deadline for likely more than this.

As for Calgary, we will see what comes of the Tkachuk trade. I think their team will still be competitive (especially if they get a piece who can play now back in the deal). Filling their roster out with a guy like Kerfoot after that would be a good call. But we will see what happens with Calgary!

Trade one: swap from CGY to a bubble team with cap space. By doing this that bubble team has incentive. If Kerf does well and the team is winning, possible extension. If the bubble team falls apart, flip at the deadline with retention for picks/prospects.

Trade two: Arizona wants to keep getting younger. In order to off load his contract to a young team (value vs cap dump argument), take your fourth or the one you just acquired from the Kerf trade, and attach it to holl.

Fair point but adding Kerfoot does absolutely nothing for them. It’s not the same as Washington adding Brown. Washington is trying to win a cup one more time with Ovi. Calgary isn’t even close to that

Cap Space. The Leafs are currently over after signing Jarnkrok and still have Sandin to sign. Unless they trade Nylander (unlikely), Muzzin (has a full NTC but more likely than Nylander), Kerfoot (most likely).

I would be very happy to keep Kerfoot if the Leafs unload Muzzin but it doesn't seem probable at this point.

You absolutely do not need to pay to trade Kerfoot. Did Ottawa pay to trade Connor Brown? I'd expect Kerfoot to get a similar package to Brown or what Jarnkrok went for around the deadline last year. Versatile middle-six players have value.

I think, just as much as cap space, is redundancy. By adding Jarnkrok and re-signing Engvall, we have a couple other players who are filling a similar role. So, unless Kerfoot is going on JT's wing again, there just isn't a natural spot for him in the lineup.
