Jack Eichel to Blue Jackets
No way Buffalo does this. Domi is a second line center at best, while Foudy while likely get no better than a middle six forward. Toronto's first rounder isn't close to a good enough pick for Jack Eichel. Impossible for Columbus to get Eichel without giving up Jones, Werenski, Laine, or the 5th overall pick, along with other pieces.

Making Buffalo even worse

At best, Risto gets a late pick - but is more likely a cap dump.</div></div>
At this point, Risto is much, much better than Subban and Bahl. Subban sucks, and Bahl is a B-level prospect who, at best, will be a 5th-7th defensman this year. I know Risto is a pending UFA and has a bad contract rn, but he could still be very useful as a 2nd pair defenseman to a number of teams.

Ottawa offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ON3M4N</b></div><div>So let me see if I'm following this right. The best piece Boston is getting back is a skilled winger whose projects as a middle 6 forward if he makes it. In return they trade a guy, who in your words they don't have much use for, and that guy is a (checks notes) a skilled middle 6 forward :huh</div></div>
I meant more that they are going to move on from DeBrusk either way (sorry for the misleading wording). Formenton may have a higher ceiling than DeBrusk too. Zaitsev could also be pretty valuable to Boston, even just as a rental. I might actually take out Forsberg and change the 2nd rounder to a 4th or something. DeBrusk's time in Boston is almost defintely over, so it's best for Boston to get a young prospect and a top 6 defenseman. I don't think there's much more Boston could get for DeBrusk at this point.

Massive Fire Sale
I don't think Dahlin accepts that offer. Maybe he takes that salary for 1 year, but not 3. Also, I don't think Anaheim does that trade. I don't see them giving up Drysdale, and they might rather Rakell over Reinhart. Giving up Drysdale, Sam Steel, Adam Henrique, and the 3rd overall pick is too much for someone who is coming off a rough year and a bad injury.

I agree, Ottawa would be very hesitant to trade Batherson. I wondered if they would trade Josh Norris and maybe a 3rd rounder instead of Batherson. I still think that in the long run though, Ottawa would win this trade.

Making Buffalo even worse
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tjm220</b></div><div>Somehow you manage to get more for Reinhart than you did for Eichel. Either way the Sabres aren’t doing any of these things.</div></div>
You think Texier, Kivilenieks, a 1st, and a 3rd have a higher value than Batherson, Sokolov, a 1st, and a 2nd? Batherson is a stud and that 2022 1st round pick could be top 10, maybe top 5. It's a gamble, but clearly Eichel is unhappy in Buffalo and after this past year, his value is quite low. Kind of a risky move, but it could pay off. In the Devils trade, Ristolainen is a pending UFA and hasn't been any good the past couple years. Subban keeps them at the cap floor, and Bahl and Zetterlund are not bad prospects. Devils may have to add a 3rd or 4th rounder too.

While Zaitsev might be one of the top 6, Boston needs a true 1LD not another maybe top 6 guy</div></div>
That's a good point. I kinda forgot about Swayman and Vladar tbh. Either way, Boston would be getting a solid prospect in Formenton and a top 6 D-man in Zaitsev while giving up someone that they don't have much use for.

With Halak and Rask who have had injury problems, Forsberg could be a good 3rd goalie who can be called-up in case of injury. And Zaitsev would defintely be one of Boston's top 6 defensemen (assuming they don't get anyone else in the offseason).

(CGY/FLA) - Bennett + 2022 6th round pick for Heineman + 2022 2nd round pick
If Sam Bennett can be as good next year as he was in the last 10-15 games this year, that's a huge steal for Florida. But I think that's a little unlikely. Calgary got a good prospect and pick, while Florida got someone who helped them down the stretch. I think at this point it's a win for both teams.

Mock Draft
I don't see Wallstedt going top 3, maybe not even top 5. He's great, but it is extremely rare for a goalie to go that high. Especially with Seattle at 2nd, I'd guess they'd want to take a star forward like Beniers, Guenther, or Eklund, ahead of a goalie. I'd guess Wallstedt would go anywhere from 5-9.

Maybe. DeBrusk is defintely on the block and Boston needs defensemen at the moment. Zaitsev could be a good 2nd or 3rd pair defense and Forsberg is a good depth goalie. That 2nd round pick might have to be a 3rd or 4th though.
