It proves that he doesn’t give a **** about anyone other than his organization, and for his team to win. Which I think is pretty great.

Galchenyuk doesn't have tons of talent. He's a one dimensional sniper that only scores on the PP. The Prospect is the main piece in this trade for Pittsburgh.

I like both players Pittsburgh got but this is an absolute win for Arizona. They have terribly lacked in star power for basically their entire existence, and Kessel is a star.

Thoughts on trade plus more moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>capsin9</b></div><div>Penguins dumped an a guy who scored 174 points in 164 games. Phil was the catalyst for the penguins winning 2 cups also.....
They received 1.9 millions in cap relief and a guy who scored 92 points in 154games.
That’s 82 less points over 2 seasons..... not to mention AG is a ufa next year.
They got a solid D prospect
Imo the penguins are just making moves to make moves. They have literally closed the window in 1 calendar year. Seems dramatic but look what they gave up compared to what the received. This includes that awful JJ signing.</div></div>
Hard to disagree tbh

Galchenyuk is one season away from unrestricted free agency. I'm already highly skeptical that losing Kessel will make Pittsburgh better, but if they don't resign Galchenyuk, this will be a disaster for the Pens.

talking contract and talking about a player role are two separate conversions but again its a rumor. haha like I said don't be surprised if it happens but also its a rumor in June. agree to disagree I trust my source but don't feel like arguing about how likely it is... ill wait and see.. smile when im right

The connolly deal is a discount, but he has gone on record saying he would take a discount to stay. Vrana I am unsure about. Johnsson just got a 4 x $3.4M and Vrana is pretty comparable. I could see him getting 3.2 to 4M on a 4 year deal.

Tbh I’d rather have bura than conno... conno will get paid more than 3. More than likely he gets 4m. His shooting % was unusual high aka lucky.
I think bura will have a big year next season.</div></div>
I'd rather have Bura too, but thats gone now lol. Donskoi would be good imo.

I understand why he got what he got. I'm just saying he's not worth what he got. Caps should keep him this year and hope that he can improve his game. Otherwise they're going to have to eat some of his salary.

Because There must be a Trade Coming
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>capsin9</b></div><div>Haha you guys overpaid kovi...... bura value is mainly in his potential and the caps would more than likely keep him than retain 50% of his salary bc “he’s not a 3.25m player”. I would at most do 500k but again I would have to get a pretty solid return on him.</div></div>
I'm not sure what your point is about Kovalchuk. He's in the same situation as Burakovsky. The Kings won't be able to trade him unless they retain a significant portion of his salary.
The Caps likely qualified him because they don't want to lose him for nothing. He still has value as an NHL player (as does Kovalchuk). Better to qualify him and explore moving him to a Western Conference team with retained salary than make him a UFA and watch him sign with the Penguins.

lol this team got so much better. Gudas > Orpik, Jensen > Niskanen with Siegenthaler and Djoos getting better. The defense is amazing. Offense will be amazing as per usual. I still have faith in Bura, but we'll see. If he doesn't work out just trade him and upgrade.

Plus amateurs like us in here have to rely on what they tell us, because we're no insiders.
If Friedman says something like that, I'm going to believe until I get new facts.

Marner on the islanders and they will be in the playoffs for the next 4 years. You can have your late 1st round picks.
It's also not just a NYI thing. CBJ, possibly Carolina.
There are teams that can take a run at him, and if they are open to offers, they will. Marner on CBJ and you are picking 25+ every year for the next 4 years.
Good luck thinking the value is equivalent.
