I don't get why people hate Liljegren so much, he's become a top 4 defenceman and is young with loads of upside still. A better coach will help him get even better.

Marner to Vegas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>carter_mackenzie24</b></div><div>Knights will lose Marchesaualt and one of Mantha or Stephenson so you get Marner with retntention for a year and give up a d-man who will get 8 mill about. So I think because of the offensive they are going to lose I think it makes some sense or they keep their team which is probably more likely</div></div>
Solving the issue of losing Marchessault/Mantha/Stephenson by trading Theodore, who is harder to replace, to an asset that's costing TWICE as much as Theodore does for the final year, just seems very counterintuitive to me.
Toronto is imo a great example of what happens to a team whose is in terms of payroll very constrained due to having several players costing almost $9M or more. Acquisition of Marner would mean that Vegas is investing almost half of their cap to Marner, Eichel, Stone and Pietrangelo - and considering they won the cup by having immense depth, this just further increases the counterintuitiveness to me.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>carter_mackenzie24</b></div><div>That’s fair definitely could find an upgrade over Heinen but who Bert? Mantha? Henrique? I just think because this has always been the case where we have a very good offensive team but never build up the defence. But I do agree that probably could put more money towards a forward. Well depending on the price would someone like Joshua at maybe 3.5 approve to you as an upgrade because that could be an option.</div></div>
joshua would honestly be pretty good, reminds me of hyman when he played w matthews and willy and maybe another current mcmann type player. you need guys like that to win games and playoff series

Marner to Vegas
I have to wonder what kind of incentive does Vegas, a team that's potentially winning their second cup in a row this year, have in trading one of their key D-man at a very reasonable pricepoint to a player whose greatness weakness by far is his playoff performance, and who is considering what he has achieved in his career somewhat overpaid?

Marner to Vegas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>carter_mackenzie24</b></div><div>I understand what you’re saying but we still have Matthews and Nylander who were both top 10 this season. Heinen playing top line has 20 goal potential, Tavares you can guarantee another 65 point season, Knies has played very recently probably 20 goals next year. Sherwood and Roy have a combined 77 points this season and we’d get a full year of McMann. Dewar and Kampf are the main defensive options but if Robertson gets PP time he could be a pretty good goal scorer. Also that defence will actually be able to score so I think offence will be relatively the same. Though I do agree losing him is tough because Marner obviously brings a lot of the leafs offence.</div></div>
i think you could put anyone with matthews and have 20 goal potential. i do like roy a lot and sherwood is a good bottom 6 guy, i think maybe look for an upgrade over heinen by spending a bit less $ on the defence and the teams looking solid. pretty good mock offseason ill give u that. when i do them people come for my head lmao

I think you have the right thought and ideas but i feel like our offence got a lot worse rather then better. I like the marner deal, but maybe with some of the FA money probably prioritizing forwards makes more sense. Gusty is a gamble but feel like hed fit with them

Yeah there’s a salary cap of 115% of the NHL salary cap. We use fantrax and all line ups, trades, add/drops, and trade talk happens there.

Rielly and Liljegren are still the best defenceman on the team but Edmunson had a good game for sure. Really simple and within himself.

I don't know what Nylander's injury is?
Back spasms?
But he definitely causes matchup problems.
He's been the Leafs best playoff producer over the years.

Underrated game from Edmundson, very effective in his own zone. Leafs did a better job at picking their spots tonight, especially Reaves.

Nice analysis. Not that the Leafs were that bad or outplayed badly but in key situations, they were one step outta place,
The forwards were OK, but it the same problem with the Dmen. No one played to their potential. Last night, Brodie, Giordano and Timmins were scratches. Not sure who they replace and certainly no guarantee that the inserted player makes things any better.

Playoff Predictions as a Leaf fan
I see Leafs losing in 7 against BOS but not worried about the direction of this team. It's hard to build a competitive group when you're wasting 29M to all three of Tavares, Marner, and Brodie. Dubas destroyed this team and Tre will need a couple of years to fix his mess

I think your underestimating how much better this Hurricanes team is than last year.
We add a healthy Andrei Svechnikov, Jake Guentzel, Dmitry Orlov, and a much improved power play.
Plus the Panthers haven't scored in 120 straight minutes against the Hurricanes

Florida fans flame us everytime that Chych for Lundell is proposed so I dunno. I would do that trade for us though. I could see Lundell on a line with Timmy and Bathy and putting up 25-30 goals in the future.
Norris is tricky. I personally would just keep him for now before I even entertain retaining him. I'd atleast give him the 24-25 season to show something to decide what's next. Worst case we have to dump him for the low, and best case he jumps back into the top 6 and plays wing or he's just a permanent LTIR lol.
Huge fan of signing Tanev, Montreal trade I would pass on.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>carter_mackenzie24</b></div><div>We just seen it with Hertl so this isn’t fully out of the realm of possibility.
Yeah I thought so.
Yeah I see what you’re saying but it is pretty low risk, either both players play well or they don’t, only give a 3rd and don’t have to bring them back.</div></div>
Hertl is 30, Norris only 24 and SJ is likely 4ish years behind Ottawa in terms of a rebuild so the retention’s significance fits their timelines of contention very differently. Ottawa is also in a much different cap situation. But yes not fully out of the realm of possibilities.
