<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>Yes a large group of Detroit fans would do this but I can't see Yzerman doing this. With the LHD prospects Detroit acquiring Girard is spending assets to get something we don't even know if we need. If Yzerman moves a couple of 2nd rd picks I'd have to think it would be for a center that has the potential to be a 2C.
But I don't think Colorado gives up Girard for 2 2nds.</div></div>
the things is you can just trade him when the prospect are ready if they ends up reaching their potential. right now detroit LD depth chart is all just question marks. would be a smart thing to do this trade and if at some point you dont need girard anymore, you just trade hom later and probably just get your investment in picks back once you trade him, pretty much what happened with leddy.

Small moves make a big impact
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JhonnyCanuck5</b></div><div>Cap floor is solved with extensions to Larkin, Bertuzzi, Seider, and Raymond.
I don’t care who is quarterbacking the 2PP as long as it scores. Hronek would be the initial PP2 QB.
No one said anything about Grand Rapids. Yes I think Wallinder should come over and play in the AHL and MAYBE be ready for the 23/24 season in Detroit.
Hague is a good, young, NHL proven defenseman who may cost a 2nd round pick as opposed to a 3rd but is cheaper against the cap and on a shorter deal. Plus considerably younger and has more future trade value if needed. I’d rather have NHL ready players that the kids beat out than scrubs. This creates endless trade possibilities.</div></div>
I'd take Hague over the guys like Schmidt or Pettersson for sure . I think Vegas finds a way to keep him though.

Scheifele Schmidt package
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>contextkobe</b></div><div>What would wpg need from the wings roster in return in your opinion?</div></div>
You didn't ask me, but I'd be looking at the 2022 1st, not the 2023 1st as the main piece of the return and then I'd want Tuomisto as a RHD prospect as we're very deep on the left but much thinner on the right side and with Seider, Hronek and Lindstrom all under 24 years old he may not see a very direct path to the NHL when he's done in college with you.
So something like Scheif + Schmidt for '22 1st + Tuomisto's rights + Berggren.
To me the only realistic thing that makes me consider moving Scheif to Detroit would be the top 10 pick in the draft. I take the opportunity to bolster our RHD prospect pool as well and add a RHS forward prospect that may be ready for the NHL in another year or so.
I also think that since Copp and Scheif are best buds that it would give you the inside lane at signing Copp as a UFA.

Lines after tdl
That (VJx2)+FZ line could be nasty if FZ and the younger VJ have good chemistry with the higher-paid JV.
Also, that LD corps is <em>tough</em> now, it may have sucked before but now the only guy in there that I'd trust to play top 4 minutes is Staal. Oesterle and Walman could possibly both try 2nd pairing duty, but every member of that group is playing above their pay grade lol

Juolevi is just a body to have around when Yzerman trades Leddy. If he sucks then he'll be waived again. If he shows something then maybe he turns out to be a found wallet. I'm not holding my breath though.

Thread:
Cost of Brady Skjei
Canes gave up a first for Skjei when his play was in the dumps with the Rangers. He is currently playing amazing, and with the injuries on the blue line that Carolina currently has, he is not getting moved. If a trade happened to send Skjei to Detroit, Canes would get a lot more than what they paid to get him. A package that might start to interest the Canes would be a unprotected first, Zadina, and another high piece, likely an A/A- prospect that doesn’t play Center or goalie, along with a mid round pick.
Now, if you are wanting Skjei at the deadline this year, a move like that could jeopardize a deep run, so there would have to be a really pretty penny on the table, and that penny would be either Raymond or Seider. I know that that would be a very steep ask, but if the Wings want Skjei bad enough at the deadline this year, they would have to pay a price high enough to make the Canes consider jeopardizing a potential Stanley Cup this year.
Either which way, it will be very hard and very expensive for the Wings to try to trade for Skjei. And with the wings being desperate for LHD, Canes could ask higher. Just look at the Kuemper trade to Colorado. In all likelihood, Skjei doesn’t get dealt at all, and with Skjei having a career year by the looks of it, you would be paying a premium to acquire him.

Might be a off season trade as Carolina probably wants to keep all their Dmen for a Cup run. Especially if Carolinas wants his cap for someone player(s), and don't want any cap returned, yeah the Wings would be good destinations and could get him him really cheap.

Despite his really quite awful screwup, Skjei's been a fantastic addition to the blueline. If you want him, you're likely looking at more than Carolina paid for him. Especially right now that Carolina have 2 guys out with injury on the back end.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mauston_atthews</b></div><div>Dude ur not seriously complaining about this trade, it was cap space, a defensive RD, a decent depth forward, for a 2023 3rd or a 2025 2nd. They could’ve gotten nothing from this and I would’ve been fine. Also, the trade deadline is sometime in mid March, they have lost of time to figure out what they wanna do. They can see how the new guys work out, and go from there, they can still get crouse. However, I’m not sure where he’d fit on this very deep lineup that has great line chemistry already. I don’t really wanna break up any line except the 4th I guess</div></div>
