MTL-BUF-WSH (bored during intermission)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EthanK24</b></div><div>So the habs basically get;
Ryan O'Reilly, Tobias Geisser
for
Max Pacioretty, Jordie Benn, Jacob De La Rose, Jordie Benn, Michael McCarron, and a 2nd?
This seems like one of those rare trades where it's a lose/lose/win.</div></div>
So who do you see as the winner?

MTL-BUF-WSH (bored during intermission)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>MTL screws WSH no way they agree to that, and The Sabres arent going to be looking for picks to fill out trades, they want NHL ready prospects.</div></div>
So if you're Washington and and the Habs offered you Mete, Juulsen, late 2018 1st, and a 2019 3rd for 1.5years of Ovi you would take it and Run???
McCarron & Djoos are both NHL ready and Benn is an NHL vet. BUF will also be sitting on 2 picks in this years 1st. 2nd, & 4th rounds + 2 in the 3rd for 2019. My logic was if they want more NHL ready talent, they have the futures to cough up to another team in rebuild mode.

MTL-BUF-WSH (bored during intermission)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chuckforit</b></div><div>No way that BUF takes those contracts (Benn, for example).
Furthermore, WSH won't accept that 3-way trade unless MTL gives them more, since they would be losing so much just for Pacio (De La Rose isn't going to amount to anything).</div></div>
I don't see how any of the contracts would be bad for BUF. Benn is literally the highest paid at 1.1M and while he would ideally be on the bottom pairing with a strong defense, he easily slots into a top 4 spot, or top 2 pairing in a pinch. Not to mention he plays both left and right sides equally well.
Also, WSH should not get more... they are essentially giving up 2 prospects and a 1st for Patch (1.5yrs), and next years 3rd for Gorges & DLR (who could easily replace Eller/Beagle when the time comes). Now obiously Patch isnt Ovi, but in terms of production they are they are literally the two best during the past 5 years. Name me a team that wouldn't give up 2 unproven prospects and a 1st for Ovi. If your montreal, would you not give up Mete, Jullsen, and a late 1st for Ovi?

Ideal Immediate Turnaround
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div>So AZ, or whoever gets #1OA, is going to trade away a potential franchise player for a 1 yr rental of Patches? That's all it will be is a rental of Patches. He's under no obligation to stay in AZ after his contract is up. He'll get similar money elsewhere as a UFA, and be on a more competitive team.
Any draft pick has some risk of busting, but top-3 picks are usually pretty good bets to become impact players.</div></div>
When I made this, it was based on the idea that MTL would have a top 5 pick (i think they were sitting bottom 2 or 3 at the time). I think that your top three rule likely applies to the top five in this years draft. For me it made sense with OEL and CHYCHRUN occupying the Left side already... essentially the move would be for something along the lines of Dahlin for Tkachuk, as far as draft position was concerned.

Realistic Semi-Rebuild (Interested to hear what people think)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>Sorry bud, your really far off on a quite a few of these. Although I agree with the sentiment here. Its time for this team to rebuild/retool.</div></div>
Other than maybe the Matheson deal, I think the rest is pretty close for 15min of effort. Based on his contract, and what i assumed would be more or less a one year rental, I think Nyquist has less value than Chucky and i'd imagine that if Chuck were traded today, that would be the going rate.
Also, this is basically the roster make-up for 2018-19 season (which i should have explained)

Drouin will be tested at centre and my predictions
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Nothing against hometown optimism (I am a Leaf fan), but I think the Canadians aren't going to make the playoffs. Experimenting with Drouin at centre and hoping Danualt can continue his breakout season at centre, to me are two big ifs for the Habs. And with defence looks average to weak. Hey, but that's why they play regular season.</div></div>
I don't think the Habs will have any issues making the playoffs. Frankly, 8M of cap space gives a team lots of options throughout a season should they ever fall outside the bubble. While the D-Corps really does need that one major piece (i.e. a #2) there is certainly tons of depth. I honestly see Jerabek slotting in with weber this season. Statistically speaking, he and Zaitsev had nearly identical numbers in the KHL. I agree that Drouin is a big 'if' at Centre, but frankly he is a better winger anyway. Furthermore, Galchenyuk was a top producing C before injuring his knee (while averaging 5 less min. of ice time). To me he is the ideal choice for the position, and Danault will have no issues playing 2-3C.

Duchene to Habs
I think if you're going to give that up to get Duchene, swap chucky for patch and go after MacKinnon instead (tho might take a bit more than NB)

Quick Fix
Are you kidding??? If Montreal gets their hand on Hanzel it'll be for a draft pick and maybe a c/d rated prospect. He is a 3rd line C at best and on top of that, he's a rental. Furthermore, McCarron will be able to become the exact same player within 2 years.
