Every time someone tries to put together a competitive Flames team for next year the tank merchants start crying that we would never make those moves. The fun part is experimenting with different paths forward. If you need it broken down:
Trade Vladar to open a spot for Wolf. Return and destination is not important.
Trade Mang to open a spot for another player. If you think he is worth more than a third pretend it was a second cause if I had the return as a second someone would be crying that he isnt worth that much at his cap hit.
Hague is big physical defender that could be a good player for the Flames for a long time still. Maybe Conroy values that more than our supposed top prospect after an underwhelming first pro season. Not to write him off, you are getting a proven NHL player in return that doesnt come free. Vegas has crowded blueline and needs money out. Maybe it doesnt take Coronato but the point is to acquire Hague.
Notice Hanley was traded for a 7th round pick. The point is get rid of him to open space. Waivers, whatever.
Stephenson could value playing close to home, choosing a retooling Flames team. If the contract is off slightly whatever, it is more about the player.
Beauvillier has been playing bottom 6 for awhile. This is about adding a vet to the bottom 6 at a reasonable cap hit.
Back to you Craig.

Mangiapane is worth more than a 3rd, if thats the best offer in the summer we wait until the deadline
Flames decline the Vegas trade, Hague is a good #4/5, not worth moving our top prospect for. Flames aren't remotely close enough to competing to consider that
Hanley is waiver fodder
Stephenson gets at least 6x6 on the market, and it won't be from Calgary
Beauvillier will probably sign a prove-it deal with a team that has a chance of success next year, and also not where he will be playing 4th line lol</div></div>
Hey boomer try having some fun.

Give it up leafs fans. Mitch is as good as gone after another first round L. Or maybe keep running back the same core each year until you're insane. Same goes for coilers fans thinking this year is different. You're not making it past the second round. Then you're gonna cry that it was some how unfair and you deserved the cup to be given to you. Then you wont trade Drai and convince yourself you can actually win with no D and bad goaltending. Bouchard might as well play forward and Skinner has warm milk running through his veins.

Sharangovich definitely has high trade value and would be a great fit for a lot of contending teams but Detroit is probably not one of them</div></div>
I think Sharangovich and Coleman could be a big upgrade on Perron and Sprong (need new contracts).

It would be criminal if Michkov fell to #8. Really dont think that is going to happen. He is attending the draft. Clearly showing his intention to play in the show.

Yeah the Flames could. Lots of teams would be interested in Backlund. I never say never but I do get the not trading a first round pick. Not looking to get older is just lip service. Every GM is in the business of getting better. Your GM also traded for a few 30+ year olds as recently as this season (Nyquist, Johansson, Reaves). Not to mention Fleury...

So with all due respect, no. MIN will give Rossi a role also. Our gm isn't paying a 1st for a rental under any circumstances and he never has. If your seeking a 1st, trade him elsewhere. No disrespect, but he's not a fit or need</div></div>
Hartman can also play RW, maybe better. See alot of teams deploying lines with two capable centers. Backlund is an upgrade on Hartman down the middle and Hartman on the RW fixes that hole. Could also come with a short term extension. I dont think its as simple as a hard no. If Backlund is traded, I think this is a close price based on what contenders have been paying recently. I think there are teams that would pay more for a 2nd line center at a $2mil cap hit, even if it ends up being a rental.

not many options for MIN to add with their cap situation. I challenge you to find me a better option for them at a 2 mil cap hit. O'Reilly got the Blues a 1st + at the deadline and although his pedigree is higher, Backlund is coming off the far better season and proven to be extremally durable. Can fill a role similar to what William Karlsson just did on the cup champions.

Most of his points this year came at wing. Not sure he's a center long-term, especially on a perennial contender. Said perennial contender can pick up a legit 2nd line center in Backlund...

This is all conceptual. Not as simple as declining all of them. Lateral move with Hanifin for an impact top forward. Backlund swap for a younger center that can develop. Vladar for best package. Toffoli for prospect and pick. Idk if you're getting "more" for these players. Roster stays competitive and gets younger. Pretty close to what Conroy says he wants to do.
