That's a fair price for Toffoli in my opinion just wrong team. Also likely the pick returning well be 20+. I would like him on the wings but we aren't in a position to pay that price.

That’s a hard no from COL they need centers and just trading a young cost controlled on for a pending UFA makes zero sense.

Most of his points this year came at wing. Not sure he's a center long-term, especially on a perennial contender. Said perennial contender can pick up a legit 2nd line center in Backlund...

Agree with above statements on Toffoli. That's not a Detroit need right now. Detroit could do way more damage packaging #17 & #9 to either move up or get a better player that fits their future needs. Its a pass

Eventually they have to compete. Toff helps them in a barren wasteland of current RW's.

Yes they do eventually have to compete; but next year is not that year considering we will still have a topline winger hole, a 2/3RD hole, and a backup/tandem goalie hole, which all cannot be addressed in the same year without selling too much.
Rather not chip off the potential-high for this team to be mediocre right now

Insanely hard pass from Detroit. We are not a trade partner for Toffoli, look elsewhere.

Screw it; Red Wings should trade Edvinsson + 9OA for Karlsson!

Yzerman isn't trading the 17OA pick for a one year rental. He more than likely would with ADB as he knows he would sign long term with his childhood team.

Highly doubtful Toronto would do that.

Toffoli is worth a 1st+ but I doubt he would return a top 20 pick this close to the draft.

Colorado almost certainly declines simply from a value standpoint but if Calgary is "going for it" they shouldn't be trading a stud in Backlund for a guy whose quite honestly underperformed in Newhook. Newhook is also not particularly great at center at the NHL level and certainly not better than Kadri at the position.

Not sure if you've kept up with recent signings but there is like a less than zero percent chance Graves is signing for under 5M

Newhook is also not particularly great at center

Perception and reality are mixed up here. He got played full time at center around the start of the new year and did well when he had consistent linemates(even if it was Cogs and LOC). Enough so that Bednar praised him after a bunch of games. He is a 2nd year player, 3c next season is where he will play and it shows a lot that Beds played him at center over ERod(who they brought in the be a 2/3c flex option).

We shall see. Regardless at this point in time Backlund is without question the better center but as I said above Colorado likely declines as Newhook holds more value due to age and team control
