Draft Day Trade
Raymond is our Debrincat. Id Keep 9OA. I would low ball an offer that didnt include a 1st rounder if we even had interest. Personally Id be looking to package 17 & 9 for a Connor if necessary. I just dont feel like Debrincat fits Detroit.

But apparently you didnt read anything I had to say after that on my reasoning. I think a 1st, 2nd and a prospect is what Ottawa would get.. But if I am Detroit, Id feel comfortable with what I have and if ottawa has nothing else on the table... maybe they take it.. highly likely they dont.. but either way as GM of Detroit, I wouldn't go "all in" on Debrincat. So you are correct in that its a joke of an offer... but he isnt worth more than that to me if I have the Wings pipeline. If I am a different team, ok with any size players and looking for a right handed goal scorer, id give more. But I am Detroit who is focused on size and has what we believe as a larger sized Debrincat in Lucas Raymond. So why do I need Debrincat, Lucas Raymond and another year of Perron?

What do they do
I would ask for a day to ponder that Wings deal. I think it actually works and could be good for both players. Value is there. Its just the thought of what else would be done with that 1st rounder that I would need time to think about. But overall you have my attention.

Foligno might fetch a 2nd or 3rd for a team that needs him or he fits with. Detroit doesn't need him and he doesn't fit the future. Heavy pass.

Agree with above statements on Toffoli. That's not a Detroit need right now. Detroit could do way more damage packaging #17 & #9 to either move up or get a better player that fits their future needs. Its a pass

Id probably offer Kubalik & the 2nd rounder. If they don't take it, move on. There are other options. Lucas Raymond will get there. Debrincat had 52 points on a good Chicago team his first year (82 games) and had his slump in year 3 putting up 45 (70 games). Lucas Raymond had 57 (82 games) in year 1 and 45 (74 games) year 2. This year Id expect Raymond to produce at a better pace as he settles in.
I just wouldn't (personally) give up a ton of assets for something we likely already have. I like the chances of that Bruins pick being top 15-20 next year. And when you then sign Debrinca to $8M it just shows Lucas Raymond what to expect the following year.
I like debrincat, but I just wouldn't feel comfortable with the current cost to obtain him here.

I mean clearing out 7-8 guys who are under 25 along with 2 2nd rounders to get an awesome return of 2 guys who are just CAP reliefs and one good prospect... seems like a great "building" plan

Red Wings Cap Weaponize
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dumpsterfire</b></div><div>You don't think a Provorov for our LD and a 2023 1st is a good addition for Detroit? We got a glaring hole on our LD and there is no capable LD that would be good enough as a 1st LD together with Moritz. Provorov needs a change of scenery and he would get a fresh start in Detroit under Lalonde. We also need to reach the cap floor + JVR's 7 mil is only for this year. The Matt Murray trade & buyout would only last 4 years and our window is 4-5 years from now. The 1st rounder would be unprotected as well. We need to stock pile draft picks and add on our LD. This trade addresses both of these issues.</div></div>
Bertuzzi's greatest value will be at the trade deadline. We shouldnt be bailing teams out at our own expense. Giving them Bertuzzi for $2M is only going to allow them to go spend $11M more in free agency. Last year they underperformed heavily. That 1st round pick for Bertuzzi and taking a shot a a $6.5M defenseman with 3 years left isnt worth it at all. JVR to clear space, im ok with working out some sort of deal... but really Yzerman is savy and smart. This trade would have everyone concerned he fell and bumped his head. If you compared Provorov's numbers with Staal last year, they wouldnt be far off and we could just keep Staal for $2M. Im just saying that this trade would allow philly to get better, which likely then they make the playoffs and that pick has way less value then it does right now when they suck. so take JVR and a 1st for a 4th and move on. No Provorov high risk when you have Sieder who will need a contract in 2 years.. And when Sieder outperforms Provorov by 10 fold, he will use provorovs contract as his baseline. Just way too many risks and I dont see one possible reward.

Red Wings Cap Weaponize
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dumpsterfire</b></div><div>I agree but unfortunately for them Fletcher is their GM. Considering all their moves this offseason Fletcher consider them being in the hunt for playoffs and may then trade out a struggling Provorov (who underperform relative to his cap) and JVR and get the best player in this trade for 2.375 mil while also freeing up 11,5 mil to use in the free agency. The upcoming season is Fletcher's 4th season with Flyers as he was hired July 11 2019. He won't care about their 1st and may upgrade massively with that cap space freed up. If everything goes as planned and Torts get them under control the pick won't be an issue. If the pick is a high pick Fletcher will be in trouble anyways.</div></div>
our response here is 100% why this trade is garbage. Why would Yzerman help them free up 11.5M? There is nothing here for Detroit as you are claiming "a struggling Provorov (who underperform relative to his cap)"... Just insanity how you think this trade is actually decent in anyway for Detroit. I dont see anywhere in Yzerman's history where he has helped out a team so much. Not starting now.

The point of this move though would allow philly to sign Gaudreau as well. So they would be replacing Provorov and JVR with Bertuzzi, Gaudreau and Deangelo. Highly likely that pick isnt going to be a top 10 pick next year. This trade would actually be a joke for Detroit, who pretty much gets a expensive defenseman, a useless forward and a mid 1st round pick for eating salary and helping Philly.

this is just ridiculous. I just cant seem to find anywhere about these JVR rumors that would send Bertuzzi there. Taking two bad contracts from Philly so that they can have half off Bertuzzi and sign Gaudreau is just dumb. I assume you are a Philly fan because there is 0 benefit to the Wings in that trade.

Yzerman has done a great job pushing us toward becoming better.. you just destroyed everything in this post. all of your trades have me shaking my head wondering why...you think Krug with 5 years left is helping us? how? Pius Suter for JVR straight up? LMAO what does that do for Detroit?
Everything you did here is the reason why Holland was removed and you would quickly follow after this.

you are highly overvaluing everything on the Philly side. Detroit is an easy no, like not even a milisecond of silence on the phone for a thought.. just ridiculous
Even worse than Detroit is JVR going to Arizona... Your dumping a salary, sending likely a 22nd-32nd overall pick and a 1st for 2025 (which is pretty much 0 value because its too far in the future to determine what the value would be)... Just garbage.

Next Season v7 Realistic
If you think this is realistic for a Ken Holland team, your nuts. Just look at the last 10 years of Red Wing teams for a track record.
1. For starters Puljujarvi taking $1.8M but Yamamoto gets $3? They are comps for each other. Puljujarvi has .51 points per game over the last 2 years and Yamamoto has .47 in the same 2 years. If i am any other team and find out the offer is $1.8M im offering him $3M or maybe even a touch more.
2. if Smith and Keith retire, Holland will go after veterans for that "Veteran depth" that he loves. He is not making your team younger if your lucky enough to catch a break on those two.
3. i agree with everything state above on Mayfield and Barrie. You might be able to get Mayfield, but your adding one hell of a sweetner. The discount that Mayfield plays for makes him more valuable
truthfully, the cap is going to be an issue for Edmonton until 2024 when Draisiatl leaves in free agency

He cant afford to take less than $6M with his gambling and wife issues.

I like the 10 rookie contracts on the 23 man roster. 8 of those guys have 0 NHL experience.. Great to see the teams average age is 21... with that being said a deep playoff run would be a miracle with this team. Great starting point for a deep run in years to come... but not for the next 4-5 years

Well played.. you have $80M spent and every guy who has 1 year left is going to be due more money next year... WHOOPS.. hopefully this team was just build for 1 year though.
now you just have to decide after this season who to keep and who to let walk with Graves, Severson, Ty smith all needing contracts as well as Debrincat & Sharangovich up front... good luck
