I don't think Toronto would be interested in committing $8M to a 34 YO dman for 5.5 more years.

Not even. If it was one of the bottom 6 guys like Moore, Timashov, or Gauthier then mabe, but not a middle 6 winger.

I think plenty of teams would entertain adding Trouba with his current contract. Kinda hard to do in today's NHL mid-season but I think teams would certainly look at there options there. I'm sure Toronto would be willing to try something if Trouba were willing to join us anyways.

Well
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Oh, it's going to get worse as we get closer to the Seattle expansion draft. CapFriendly's are going to have trades where the 31 existing team offer a second rounder to Seattle for taking on a unwanted 5 cap hit. Seattle is going to enter the season with 150m cap hit but will have 31 additional second picks at the entry draft.
Wish Leaf fans would stop putting Bracco in all these NHL trades. Well do it if you truly think he is an NHLer, but is he ever going be an NHLer?</div></div>
You completely missed my point. So what if Seattle chooses Kapanen, Bracco, Johnsson, or someone else; they are going to take someone, why lock them in to take one of the best of our available assets while giving them another one?

Who else are they going to choose? Who else can we really leave open? Just let them choose who they want there is no need to give up more assets.

Deal I made at trade machine
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stan_Bowman</b></div><div>...So Carpy has been a beauty in Chicago this season. In my opinion, he is the perfect role player. He is on a disposable contract for the next two years after this one, and I hope he wouldn't be a throw-in for any deal.
Lastly Lankinin, he is considered by some to be a goalie of our future, but he is not NHL backup material currently. Theres no reason for him to be included in the trade for these reasons.
...
SammyT_51 I would recommend you check out my three-way trade post and give me your opinion on that. I believe it works out for everyone and solves your logjam at forward and gives you Murphy.</div></div>
I think that three-way takes the long and unnecessary way of achieving what the basis of this trade is for Toronto. Toronto just needs another RHD they don't need to go aquiring and committing money to a guy like Shaw.
Take out everything but Kappy/Johnsson for Murphy and leave it at that.

Don't see Toronto accepting that deal. Maybe if it was 50% retained, even then I'm not confident they say yes even if he were free.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ThomasChaney</b></div><div>Would the be willing to give up more?</div></div>
The deal is essentially Thomas Tage for Patrick Kane, of course a team would be willing to give up more if the cap space is available to add him.

- Traded before first NHL game
- Traded by second NHL team

How is being traded a transgression?

No, I am a Marlies fan. And I'd rather see a 23 year old with some great numbers in the NHL with RFA control on the Leafs than a UFA who would be left to walk if we're giving up a bunch of futures.

A top 6 winger for a backup is just silly. If they were getting a clear cut 1B then moving Johnsson or Kapanen may make sense. I still sometimes think TO should look into trading Kapanen or Johnsson for Lehner with reduced salary to even out the cap. Then they can tandem Andersen and Lehner all the way to the playoffs and possibly win the division if Boston has a rough patch in there.</div></div>
I think Georgiev is closer to 1B than you do as honestly as is I'd rather see Kap/Johnsson for Georgiev than lener even without cap considerations.

Yeah, I think people take a step back and chill, hopefully that means something like Bracco + 2nd rather than Johnsson + 2nd
