I really don't see how a guy that is currently struggling on the 3rd pair is going to excel on the 1st. He's got a pretty atrocious PDO, but still.

Probably closer to what they would realisticially get for him. The Coleman trade though I think now is off. Optimisticially you may be able to get him for something like Ceci + Scott + 3rd, but that is really only if NJ think Ceci has some value.

Underpay with both trades realisticially.
Coleman is a cheap middle 6 C signed for two years. Coleman is going to cost more than a 2nd + a goalie who has suffered a huge setback due to injury.
For Murphy, you're going to have to give up more than Duszak & Aberg. Both are questionable free agent talents. Aberg is too good for the AHL but seems to suffer from TJ Brennan syndrome. Duszak is actually quite young for just finishing college, so him dominating the ECHL as a 22 year old isn't necessarily bad. DUring his short stint with the Marlies last year he looked comfortable playing in a top 4 role. I imagine next year he jumps to the AHL and is relied upon heavily on the right side along with Lindgren. But while Duszak is probably underrated, he's not getting you Murphy.

I mean what more do you want me. Value of 2 3rds < Value of Bracco. Do I need to give you the draft number of the pick I think Bracco is worth? What do you want from me?

Retooling - moves with PIT NSH TOR SJ WPG
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BurgerBoss</b></div><div>3 reasons
a) saving money
b) getting a defensive D
c) getting a decent and cheap 2G</div></div>
a) Fair
b) He's barely an NHL defender
c) I would say decent is generous. He also makes more than Hutch. The value there is negligable.
So essentially this deal would just be capspace...and we'd need to go spend more assets on a defender. Downgrade from Kapanen to Greenway as well. Does Greenway PK? Can he actually skate well for his size? I'm not sure he's a fit.

The Most Mega Leafs Sharks Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DenisPotvin</b></div><div>So we disagree about Burns's durability. OK, that's fine...but humor me. If it could be guaranteed that Burns would be a Norris-level player until the end of the 2022 season, would you make that trade?</div></div>
If ifs, ands or buts were candy and nuts, then every day would be Christmas...*looks at calendar*, okay fine you win this one.
Assuming he is in serious contention for the Norris (2015-2017 play) for 3.5 years then yeah I think you'd have to go for that as it'd be hard to say where things will be in 4 years time. All the same by accepting this deal I'm also accepting the fact that we'd have to essentially have a guy who dramatically falls to 3rd pairing lvl making $8M for two years because there's no way we'd be able to afford the multiple firsts/top assets to move that contract.

Toronto isn't giving up a 1st for Subban. He's a huge gamble at this point given his recent performance and apparently he's having trouble skating now due to his lower back or something? Not taking that gamble.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DenisPotvin</b></div><div>How often to game-changing defensemen become available outside of the draft? I can think of four times this decade (Subban, Weber, and Karlsson, with two off those instances being a swap!)
Dubas gives up no critical piece and acquires one. He maximizes his team's window for the next 2-3 years.
But, it all depends on if you think the team is good enough now. I don't think they are a legitimate SC contender, but they'd be the team to beat with Burns on the blueline.</div></div>
Burns is primed to fall off literally any day now. He's already fallen to a 54 point pace, which is great don't get me wrong, and it is only going to get worse the coming years. Acquiring Burns wouldn't maximize the team's window for 2-3 years, it would maximize it for literally half a year.
Also cap space is a critical piece, and for the next 5 years we're going to have a guy falling off a cliff from a #1 to bottom pairing dman making $8M.

Toronto would just use Liljegren rather than trade him for a guy like Stetcher or Tanev (or both). I wouldn't mind picking him up but I think that would be more of an off-season deal as right now Ceci would have to go back to make things work in terms of cap and number of RHD. That or Vancouver would have to retain 50% on both Stetcher and Pearson in that first trade haha.

Well I mean most Rangers fans are asking for a 1st or 2nd+ for Georgiev, so it just seems that Chmelevski is being viewed as having 2nd round pick value or greater which is a bit of a surprise. Definetly a solid WJ and a decent start to the AHL season for his age, but I didn't think his value had risen to quite that level yet.

Problem is getting him into the lineup. Our 4th line, especially our RW is full of able bodies. You got Spezza and Goat splitting duties, and with Engval taking over a spot on the left side that means Moore gets pushed to his natural right side now too.

That's what you hope anyways, and that's a large package to pay for a hope of something coming true. I don't think Simmonds is a good rental option either, he's not what he once was so don't see a point in aquiring him over keeping Johnsson.
My counter would be Subban @50% for Ceci + Bracco. People are going to be pretty cautious about acquiring Subban at this point so I don't think we can expect a lot to be moved for him.
