I think the point production will be similar this year for Tkachuk and Svech. I just think Tkachuk brings more away from the puck. Probably 40 goal - 70 points for Svech, 30 goal 70 points for Brady.

Id like to see where he would have slotted in the 2016 Draft.
Fresh off a 41 Goal 102 point season as a C.
My Bet (kinda interesting):
1) Matthews
2) Laine
3) Patrick - Same style as PLD but with better numbers?
4) Puljujarvi
5) Rumor is Habs had a deal with Vancouver if PLD Dropped to 5 to send Subban to Van for #5. PLD Goes 5
6) Tkachuk
7) AZ still takes Keller (they love their USNDTP)
8) Juolevi

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Warpbox</b></div><div>I highly, highly doubt Bunting does that</div></div>
I don't know why.
A guy who - really - before this year playing with Matthews & Marner was probably projected to be a career AHLer with a few cups of coffee in the NHL gets 24 million dollars and job security until he's 33. To be honest, I wouldn't sign this if I were the Leafs. A 27 year old who really only became a decent player at 26 isn't a sure thing to keep up a 60 point season until he's 33.... but it keeps his cap hit down.

Re-Drafting 2017 (1st Round Only)
Thank you for a REALISTIC re-draft. My pet peeve is re-drafting players taken in the 3rd round 1st overall. There is no way ever, that Brayden Point would have been taken 2nd overall in 2014. Ever.
Is Jason Robertson a top 10 player from this draft? Definitely. Is 30 about as high as he would have realistically gone? Absolutely.

Chychrun without moving Nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Logan_Ollivier</b></div><div>An incredibly over the top haul for Chychrun. This is a reigning Norris champion return. Not a top 4/2nd pair defenceman haul. He wouldn't even be the best defenceman on the Leafs. Not even sure I'd put him above Brodie quite yet. Certainly isn't as good defensively as Brodie but offers more offence but not even close to as much as Rielly does so why get him?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jaok3</b></div><div>Leafs aren't trading Knies unless they get an ELC contract power forward in return. They also would have made a move already for their 2023 first rounder if something big was available and made sense. That year is supposed to be a stacked draft, so to move a first rounder would have to be a major difference maker to any team in the league.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AG_sweden</b></div><div>That is a high of a price I would pay for Chychrun. He ain't all that. Just saying.
If ARI want's a trade they should lower the price. I know they are tanking but the price set on him is way off.
I honestly don't know why teams want him so much?
Is he good, yeah - hard to gage playing on a poor team. But I also feel trading for him can backfire big time.</div></div>

I agree with most of this, for the record. If it were me, I'd be giving up Sandin, Kerfoot, Holl and a 1st - OR Knies, Sandin and Holl. There's plenty of risk associated with trading for anyone, with the exceptions of very big stars. Chychrun could come into town and be Tyson Barrie - just not a great fit. However, I'm basing this on what Arizona is asking for.
As for the "why get him" comment - I think you need more than just one defensive guy and one offensive guy to win a cup. I have no problem having 2 offensive guys on the back end - even if they're both the sameish player. You need a full roster to win. I just agree that we shouldn't sell the farm for him.

Chychrun without moving Nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Not saying it isn't a good haul, but you are asking for three years of salary retention. I'm only used to seeing salary retention for one year, or for a player who is performing well below their contract (Murray).
It would be highly unusual for a team to retain multiple years salary for a guy who is already on a team friendly deal.
As to Holl and Kerfoot, their value to Arizona is completely dependent on what they can be flipped for, and that's a big risk for Arizona to take them on with the hope of recouping them for picks at the deadline. Kerfoot is not going to have a 50 points season with the desert dogs, and they need to not get injured this season.</div></div>
It would be unusual, but that's why Arizona is getting more of a return.
I personally think the asking price on Chychrun is ridiculous. The team trading for that a star in those massive deals always never comes out on the winning end (Karlsson, Pacioretty, Eichel) ... and I think Leafs Management is smart enough to know that. Hockey is a variable game, and Chychrun has just as good a chance of coming to Toronto and being mediocre as he does becoming a top 2 star. We've seen it happen tons of times. I think a management group as smart as Toronto's realizes this, and if they're paying the full asking price, they're going to minimize risk by asking for some retention. It's not like AZ needs the cap space ...

I mean, we can re-organize if you like.
Young Roster Player (Sandin), Prospect (Knies), First Round Pick, Take on Holl + 1.4 of Chychrun for a 50 point guy who can fetch you a pick at the deadline.
I think this is a very good haul for Chychrun.

Bad offer .. ? 2 recent first round picks in Thompson and Boucher ... AND another first?
Like, Seth Jones got 2 firsts (Regardless of where they ended up ... Chicago wasn't expecting to deal #6 and #12) and a top prospect. Chicago was probably assuming those picks would be mid first round (assume 15 and 15). That's the same deal as Thompson, Boucher and a first

2023 WJC Team Canada Predictions
I think the best thing for Shane's development would be to go back and play one more year of Junior.
He had 1.5 years of Junior Development ripped away from him because of covid restrictions. He had his WJC ripped away from him because of covid restrictions. I really think the best thing for his development (and also, for him mentally) is to go back and play one more year of Junior/WJC/etc.

Predicting Divisional Standings 2023
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>I'd love to hear your rationale for your Pacific ranking. LA at the top seems a little optimistic, but Anaheim in 3rd place seems downright crazy. Calgary and Vegas missing the playoffs? I wouldn't bet on that if I were you.</div></div>
Calgary - I'm thinking the loss of Gaudreau might trigger a movement of Tkachuk, and if so, that offense is a fraction of what it was last year. I wouldn't count on a top 6 of Coleman-Lindholm-Toffoli/Pelletier-Backlund-Mangiapane to be playoff bound
Vegas - I really think the Golden Knights are seeing the consequences of acting as if there is no salary cap the past few years. I cannot see how a team that gave Patches away in addition to the losses they had to make the past 2 years as cap casualties would be better than this current year's team.
