Bruins moving Ullmark to a div rival is highly unlikely unless it’s a severe overpayment especially Toronto

Lol, Boston would have signed Jake a long time ago if he was signing for that.
If he does not sign in Boston he’ll sign in western Canada.

The OP was what's his value to PIT (hypothetical) - I basically said RUST!!

I think NJ is overpaying in the Ullmark trade and Boston is overpaying in the Chychrun trade.
Drop the 2nd from the Ullmark trade and I think that is closer to correct.
I'm not sure about Chychrun's value off the top of my head, but I do know that Ottawa paid basically a 1st and 2 2nds for 2.5 seasons, and even that was arguably an overpay. You are proposing a similar value for 1 season of him (Merk is probably not worth a 2nd, but he does have some value like a 3rd or 4th). I doubt Chychrun's value has gone up very much since he was traded and he is now a pending UFA, so I wouldn't give up more than a 1st. If the cost is higher, then another team with more picks/prospects is welcome to pay it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Good to know and think about. As always your insight and perspective is much appreciated</div></div>
Still believe NJ and Boston make the most sense with regards to an Ullmark deal. While I like Markstrom, the difference in age should be a consideration.
The PLD rumors are more credible to me than some Boston fans are hoping for, because I can see the value base on both sides if I don’t look at my natural disdain for players who have dogged it,
Ullmark turning down a deal where he’d be away from his family for months is different than in the offseason if it is accompanied with an extension that brings stability home
Appreciate the discussion

The Bruins just didn't have space at the TDL. Tampa is far from a foregone conclusion.</div></div>
I think NJD will be in the Hanifin mix as well. Close and he has ties to Fitzgerald.

Again, 80% of players who go through that process are gone in 2 years.</div></div>
i'm well aware of what the arbitration process is. in this instance, i really don't see it as any cause for concern.

E. Lindholm <em>shouldn't</em>, if he finishes out the season with mid stats and goes onto the market I cannot see him getting 9+</div></div>
Cap will have gone up since then so I think he’d get a number starting with a 7, especially if he gets to UFA for a full bidding war and the term is only 7 years.
If whoever buys him as a rental offers 7.25x8 that’s 14 mill more total

Also swayman costs more, hanifin costs more, and Lindholm probably gets more (though he shouldn’t)
I think if they wanna bring in BOTH Hanifin and Lindholm they’ll have to sacrifice DeBrusk and Ullmark

The "get a 1C" ship has sailed. I don't think it was ever docked tbh.
Also I know I'm in the minority here but I think Zacha has WAY more to offer. He was noticeably timid when he got here and blossomed as the year went on. I legit think he could put up 70-75 point next year.
