Habs blockbuster

No point in rushing Ghule or Barron - let them crush it in the AHL and really fine-tune their skill and abilities. Lets tank again next year- Its two great years to tank.</div></div>
I would have no problem with that at all. Guys who will cost next to nothing, who can just fill the gap for this year. And if they play well enough that they force their way into the lineup, let them play. Simple.
The top 2 next year is insane. It is possible that Bedard and Michkov will be franchise players (not McDavid or Matthews, but a step below that). Another bottom two pick in 2023 would definitely set this franchise up for a long time imo.

Montreal is thin on the right side D, no doubt. But I would not be willing to pay for Barrie. As you have seen in my comments before, I think Edmonton has to pay to get rid of him. But I do think Montreal is ok for this year. Romanov, Schuneman, and Clague (if he comes back) can play the right side if needed. They aren't looking to compete for a playoff spot imo. I also think Barron starts this season in the NHL. But I would not be opposed to him starting in Laval to let him develop. Him and Harris.

Habs are gonna need a PMD - KH is building a fast and offensive team - so Barrie could help in that aspect.</div></div>
Yeah, that will be compete in 2-3 years. Barrie is 31 in three weeks. He is not young by NHL standards. I don't think Montreal is not concerned about having a "complete" roster this year. Or at least I hope not. Montreal needs another bad year (standings wise). I hope Hughes sees it the same. Does not change the fact that he is a salary dump by Edmonton. I still think Edmonton will have to pay to get rid of Barrie.

Realistic offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Simuel</b></div><div>For a 3rd, the Habs do it.
Plus, a few contracts (notably Hoffman and Petry) are likely to be traded. Price will also go on LTIR so that's 10.5M there</div></div>
Why would Montreal pay for a cap dump? I don't understand why anyone would think we would pay for Barrie. I hope Hughes sees it the same way.

Why would Montreal pay that price to take a salary dump from Edmonton? We don't "need" Barrie. Montreal is not a playoff team and they are not trying to be. I don't understand why anyone would think Montreal would pay for a salary dump. Edmonton will probably have to give up a pick to trade him. Same with Kassian and Keith. That is my opinion at least. It will be an interesting week!
