Edmonton Oilers signed Corey Perry (1 Year / $1,100,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Manson</b></div><div>Says? That hasn’t been confirmed, and he doesn’t get all of the money, the hawks cut him because they didn’t want a “controversy”. It has never been said he harassed an employee. And if the hawks didn’t screw him the NHLPA wouldn’t have filed grievance, right?</div></div>
What are you talking about? Corey Perry himself has confirmed his inappropriate conduct. He's issued a whole apology statement and everything. It's not a "controversy" because there's no disagreement. He admitted his inappropriate conduct and his need for help of alcohol abuse. If the termination was unwarranted the player would ABSOLUTELY want to get all his money. There wouldn't even be a single millisecond of hesitation. He would have done it. The NHLPA would have already done it. I'm NOT trying to say people don't deserve second chances. I'm NOT trying to say he's evil or any nonsense. I'm saying only the absolute obvious that's been verified. Something went down with him while he was drunk with a female employee that was not reciprocated to the point where the Hawks conducted an internal investigation and terminated his contract. Corry Perry has admitted fault.
I wish him luck on his future and that he gets all the help he needs. Just go get the facts. He didn't AT ALL get screwed over.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Manson</b></div><div>Good for him, hope he wins it all, and Chicago has to pay some of his old contract, really sounds like they screwed him over.</div></div>
How in the world did the Hawks screw him over?!?!?! They paid him WELL more than market and he goes and drunkenly harassed an employee.

Seattle Kraken signed Vince Dunn (4 Years / $7,350,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blacktown</b></div><div>Mate, take off the Kraken glasses for a moment. This is a serious overpay. He’s 500k short of Quinn Hughes money and he’s half the player.</div></div>
I don't think it's really fair to compare Hughes' contract to Dunn's. Hughes signed his long-term deal coming off his ELC, as an RFA without arbitration rights. Oftentimes, those sorts of contracts turn into bargains. Dunn on the other hand was an RFA with arbitration rights who was only one year away from qualifying for unrestricted free agency. He had significantly more leverage than Hughes did. Plus, in the seasons before signing their contracts, Dunn and Hughes posted very similar stat lines: a 64 point pace with 23:40 ATOI for Dunn, and a 60 point pace with 22:48 ATOI for Hughes. So I choose to view it as Hughes' contract is a bargain more so than Dunn's is an overpayment. In fact, Dunn's contract is pretty much right in line with what top-pairing LHD earn in the NHL today. And make no mistake, Vince has quietly become that caliber of player.

Tampa Bay Lightning signed Tanner Jeannot (2 Years / $2,665,000 AAV)
Lots of hyperbole on this contract. It is a fair contract for a physical middle 6 winger that has 25 goal scoring upside. Dunk on the trade all you want but this contract is totally fair and is no way an "overpay".
It's not like he got an Anthony Mantha type deal here.
Mathieu Joseph got $2.95 mil from Ottawa last year
David Kampf got $2.4 million in Toronto
Morgan Geekie got $2 million from a cap-strapped Bruins team
Zemgus Girgensons got $2.5 million from Buffalo while Victor Oloffson got $4,750,000 last year for being a ~25 goal scorer
Daniel Sprong and Klim Kostin got $2 million each from Detroit
Kasperi Kapanen makes $3.2 million
Tanner Jeannot is a great value at $2.6 million under any circumstance compared to those players above.

(CHI/TBL) - 2024 7th (CHI) for Perry
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rolfadinho</b></div><div>Corey Perry is interested in joining Chicago? That’s news to me.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>horse_ethan</b></div><div>Well, we don't know yet is he. If signs with them, then we'll know.</div></div>
Perry had a no-trade clause, which I assume is still in effect until July 1, so I guess he would have had to waive it for them to be able to make this trade. I don't know why he'd want to go there at this stage in his career, but if my assumption is correct, he must at least be interested in listening to what they have to say.

(CGY/NJD) - Toffoli for Sharangovich, 2023 3rd (CGY)
Not bad for a rental winger who asked for a trade. I feel like people always overvalue the returns for players like this and are going to think this was a fleece rather than solid market value

(WPG/LAK) - Dubois for Iafallo, Kupari, Vilardi, 2024 2nd (MTL)
WPG masterclass, they had little to no leverage with MTL and turned it into a HUGE package for Dubois
but MTL's 2024 2nd being in the deal is funny
