Why not just run it back. Detroit isn’t a cup contender the might aswell starting working on their future core and let them develop chemistry while they wait for other teams to fizzle out due to age or cap. I say Detroit still has 2-3 more years before they are a top team again and that’s fine most their core is between 22-27 and you still have young guys coming up who could be core pieces like ASP/ Danielson/ Wallinder/ Mazur/ Kasper/ Edvinsson/ Cossa and even buchelnikov is another guy who I think is underrated and could become a good middle 6er one day. Also gives you time to get Holl/ petry/ chariot/ husso contracts off the books

Weird... My feeling is the type of player Yzerman likes to draft is the type of player Torts loves to coach.
He'd do very well here when the core is completely assembled in Detroit.

That game was disgraceful.
I know Yzerman isn't the kick the garbage can and yell guy.
But if there was ever a time to lose it on his team it's tonight.
He basically told his team he believed in them by doing nothing at the trade deadline.
Other than trading healthy scratch Kostin.
And they reward him with this?
I could see this coming.
They barely beat Chicago.
A game they really should've lost
They beat up on a tired Caps team who played the night before.
Then they lost to the Isles and the excuses began.
It's only 1 game. Isles were desperate.
Then they lost to Florida.
Oh they're the best team in the NHL.
No big deal.
Then they got drilled by Colorado.
Avs are unbeatable at home!
We didn't have Larkin.
Makar had a night!
So then they get a bad Coyotes team who played the night before.
A team not even trying to win.
A team who recently couldn't win a game to save their lives.
Kind of like the Red Wings right now.
They're giving away players for 5th round picks!
And what happens?
Red Wings get shutout?
So they're giving up on the season because apparently they can't win without Larkin?
Really?
By the time they get out of this slump it'll be too late.
They'll be buried in the standings and run out of games.
My Sharks are bad enough.
My 2nd favorite team is Detroit.
They've gotten me through this horrible season.
Now they're imploding.
Next game in Vegas on Saturday will likely end up 8-0 for the Knights.
Come on Yzerman.
Yell at these complacent clowns.
They're too comfortable.
You believed in them and they quit.
You know what, this probably bothers me more than it does them! 🙄
4 consecutive losses which will turn into 8 soon enough.
Kill this country club atmosphere!
Great team chemistry?
What team chemistry?

As much as I would like that Andersson trade, that isn't enough or more likely not the right pieces.

Detroit won’t pay what it costs to move Copp, he makes too much for too long. Stevie Y bought at Copp’s high water mark which was a mistake.

You have Calgary taking back almost 10m in salary beyond this year, there is zero compensation for this, and really the only decently enticing piece is the first, and we wouldn't even be getting it this year.</div></div>
You're not taking back anywhere near 10m in salary past this year, Maatta 3.0m and Holl 3.4m and Berggren won't get anymore then $900,000 sorry that's only slightly more than 7.3m if even that. You're trading far more in cap with both Hanifin and Tanev than you're taking back.

Not sure how much interest Hawks would have in Copp since he has 3 years left. Gonna say Wings add at least a 2nd to move him to Hawks. Might take more than that.

Hanifin maybe but I would rather let our guys develop, have like 14 total LHD in the system.

If there's one team that does not need retention, it's Anaheim, and we won't be trading the guy who leads our team in almost every offensive category and still has one season left on his contract at under $3.75 million for less than a first plus.

Yeah you're not getting either Hanifin with an extension or Frank Vatrano without at least a 1st round pick going back to both teams.

Hanifan will bring back a 1st as a rental. I agree with your sentiment though that Detroit shouldn't be the team wiling to pay that without an extension in place.
