The Boston 2024 1st round pick will be heading to Ottawa in the Alex DeBrincat trade, On what planet does John Gibson and Adam Henrique get anywhere close to this kind of value? John Gibson has been pretty much garbage for the past 5 years or so. Copp and Petry don't waive for Anaheim either. Detroit passes on trade #1

Zero chance of Calgary accepting that offer for Noah Hanifin Johansson+Maatta+2nd+3rd round pick isn't getting it done.

Decline the Rust trade, Berggren+Rasmussen for a 31 year old making 4.5 x $5,125,000 isn't going to happen. There's a greater chance of Berggren getting moved in a package deal for either Gibson or Hanifin then for an aging player like Bryan Rust.

Trade #1 Detroit declines.

Trade #2 Calgary declines.

Trade #3 Detroit declines.

Trade #4 Who cares Reimer has little to no value anyways.

laugh Rust value is nowhere close to a 9OA or a 17OA pick. Yzerman would laugh Dubas out of the building.

Look, I like Rust and he's been really good this season. But Kasper is a recent top 10 pick and ASP looks like he should have been. I really don't think Detroit is willing to sell one of them for Rust.

Because OP is paying to dump Petry and Copp, not to mention Husso, and go check the GSAX boards and tell me where Gibson and Husso land.

The last 5 years of Rust Expected Goals / 60 5v5, ranking in NHL:
2023: 6th
2022: 11th
2021: 69th
2020: 27th
2019: 26th

1 year outside of the top 30 in the last 5 years.

He hits people. He draws penalties. He plays the PP and PK. He has missed like 30 games in the last 5 years. He can play a scoring RW on the top line or a checking RW on the 3rd line.

Criminally underrated.

You say this as if that easily gets a top prospect lmao.
He's 32 and signed to term.

Yeah. You say that as if it's a negative.

He is 32, not slowing down (his line is 8th in the NHL in expected goals), and signed for 5MM. Even if he slows down at 36, you have 3 great seasons out of him. By then, the cap will be way up and he will be an appropriately paid 3rd liner / penalty killer.

Just to be 100% clear. I do not want the Pens to trade Rust. He is a great player signed for cheap. The ACGM must think he is good enough to play on the top line in Det too.

If the Pens did trade him, they would have to get something great back. The trade above ain't it.

I only agree on the fact that I would not do the trade for my team.

Totally fair. We can agree to disagree on his value.
