Cant Move Ladd
Realizing I moved Koivula because I was planning on signing Cizikas... but in the end we might be better off without putting another 2.5-3M on the fourth line. Went back to the NJ well to save 1.5M or so

This team is DEEP
Beau and Pelech will get more than that through arbitration if they have to. After consecutive years being top players in the Playoffs I think you're undershooting their contracts by about 3.5-4M combined. Also think Casey will get more in FA... hate to say it, but maybe from a team like Toronto who will be focused on adding grit

Is Palms worth breaking up the 4th Line
You must have hated the Lee deal as much as I did. Palms can at least shoot the puck though - I think maybe the last year of a 4 year contract will look bad, but we'll have about 4 other ones that are bad at that point anyway. It's more about the next 2 years where we have Barzy and Pulock on bridge deals, Mayfield on his contract and Wahlstrom and Dobson on ELC

They seem to like to play him on one for zone entry, but I agree that I would rather see Dobson instead. I don't think that's what we will see to start the year though

...perhaaaaaps this is just an instance of you not actually knowing what words mean? Maybe you're thinking of the word "plausible" - that might almost give your argument some sense of a point. But I didn't say it was plausible. I said it was more than possible to fit him under the cap -which it is, because I showed it on paper with numbers and the isles carrying 23 players during a season where most teams are expected to keep 21. I think most logical English speaking people would agree to that.
But seriously - after all that, that's your comeback? Weak post bud, hope you can do a little better next time

Hoffman more than possible
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>Says the guy who’s saying that a big contract going on LTIR, barzal signing a low ball deal, and Hoffman settling on NYI is more than possible. Sounds like you live on a different planet buddy, hows the weather there?</div></div>
Lmao god you're not too bright are you. I'm gonna do my best and spell this out for you one last time in case you have a couple of working brain cells floating around in there somewhere. I'm saying it's possible to run a full 23 man roster (not a requirement!) under the cap if Ladd LTIRs. 100% possible - I literally showed it. There's numbers next to the player's names, you add them up, the final number is under 81.5M - that's how this site works. You'd think you understood that after more than 15,000 posts but apparently not... so here goes nothing!
-Big contract going on LTIR, small contract going on LTIR... doesn't matter if the guy can't skate. Ladd's knees are totally spent - he is not expected to be able to pass a physical at this point. Like I said before, the Boychuk thing was somewhat a surprise - this one wouldn't be a surprise to anyone who has any clue who Andrew Ladd actually is.
- This is not a lowball for Barzal - literally every reputable news outlet has projected for a bridge deal between 6.5-7M - around what Braden Point got when the cap wasn't flat. If you wanna go out on your own and say "Barzal is getting 10M because I say so", be my guest - but understand you're contradicting literally every piece of journalism on the subject post flat-cap announcement. Ryan Pulock came out after he signed his deal and said he and Barzal were taking discounts to keep the core together - you know more than him too?
- Yeah, who knows what team he's going to settle upon - certainly not any of us! Something tells me he could have some interest in playing on a team that went to the ECF, with a brand new state of the art practice facility, and (if Ladd LTIRs - which, in case you're still missing, is the entire premise of this entire post) can pay him more than just about any other contending team in the league - not to mention they have a pretty good coach!
Any more questions/concerns?

Ladd was pretty widely expected to hit LTIR this year - if anything, the Boychuk LTIR was the "miracle" (as far as cap is concerned). I don't expect every fan to be up on every little thing that's going on with other teams, but you're pretty clearly out of your depth here

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AndrewLadd</b></div><div>That Barzal contract for Barzal isn’t a “miracle contract.” I do agree that it’s highly unlikely Ladd also goes on LTIR tho</div></div>
there are rumblings on HF from people who know Ladd personally that he does not expect to play this year - poke around the Isles board long enough and you'll find the posters (and their credentials). Dude has played 30 NHL games in the last two years - it's not a "miracle LTIR" either, it's an old beat up player on a team run by a GM who has a long history of putting old beat up players on LTIR
As for the 300k in cap space, send one of the healthy scratches down if that's not enough room for you. I also made a point of paying Hoffman at the most I can see him realistically getting in this climate - as well as Greene. Point was just to show we have room to carry 23 and not go cheap on anyone if Ladd LTIRs

To be totally honest, I wouldn't be surprised if the Isles don't even sign him. The Isles system is conducive to boosting goalie stats as they allow a bunch of low percentage shots. They have Greiss already signed who put up very similar numbers - I could see them signing another backup type goalie to a 1 year deal, and then having a clean slate for Sorokin the year after (when his KHL contract ends). I love Lehner, but at the end of the day this is a business and 10M + is a tough number to have tied up in goaltenders

I don't think the Isles touch a Salary that high with Greiss already signed and Soderstrom, Skarek, and Sorokin waiting in the wings. Lehner may sign at a bit of a discount given his sort of unusual situation - this is the first place he's had success, there is a support system alread and he is loved by the fans. No reason for him to rock the boat. I imagine if he wants 7M, he'll sign elsewhere

yeah, i realize it's a big step forward, but he was playing at a 45 goal pace in Bridgeport. Dude has shown an ability to play in front of the net similar to Lee (although obviously not on the same level), and has one of the better wristers on the team IMO. As long as he can keep up with those other two skating wise, and gets some PP time (and the PP is any type of improved), 20ish sounds reasonable to me

P/GP - 33rd
The guy makes $4.5 now and his P/GP since 2016 is around Evander Kane (0.68 to Mojo 0.60) who just signed for $7 million a year. Granted Kane is a year younger and plays a heavier game, but I could see Mojo looking for something in the $5.5 range.</div></div>
We will have the cash for it. Could pay him more on a 1 year deal - should honestly have Bellows, Koivula, and Wahlstrom ready to start contributing to the NHL roster by the middle of next season. Unfortunately the year after we need to pay our 1C and 1D, so I'd prefer not to have too much cash tied up if at all possible
