That’s his asking price man. And if you want him you gotta free up some cap space. Nash is a fantastic two way player still.

That’s a ton to give up. Maybe they do it with Belesky involved but I think the trade above is far more likely. Its compliant and beneficial towards both sides.

I’ve fixed the trade so now it is salary cap compliant. Forgive me if I’m wrong buy Spooner has a higher cap hit than McQuaid right? The deal I have in place should be compliant and if I’m the Rangers, I take that immediately.

Very true, didn’t even consider that. May Miller is in the deal too then, instead of that 4th rounder

Fabbro, Bean, and Kapanen are pipe dreams. The wings would have to give up a lot more for some of those prospects, especially Bean and Fabbro.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ngikas</b></div><div>Don’t think Holden sees the ice until two dman get injuried. Don saw what happened last year when we had to call up cross and O’Gara during the playoffs last year. He just wanted some insurance on the back end</div></div>
Nah Holden is gonna get plenty of icetime on the third line. There's plenty of players they could get who are far cheaper than a 3rd round pick. They got it back in the Vatrano trade but they got Holden for a reason and that was to have that last defenseman who can play third line minutes but play plenty of PK time. It'll give Chara the rest he needs going into the playoffs. Add McD to the mix and you suddenly have 3 D lines that can go up against any skill level.

I like the creativity of the Panthers bringing Mac to Florida but I can 100% guarantee that the Panthers must have been on his no-trade list. Why would he ever want to go to a organization that can't seem to ever take a step forwards.

Yeah I know that Don is against trading away some of his best young pieces, like Heinen, Zboril, or Czarnik, but Donato's trade value will never be higher than right now after performing on a global stage. The Bruins would have the best shut down D core in the NHL if they get Mac, they just have to keep him off a line with Holden

I'm personally not a fan of the Islanders going out and grabbing a goalie. If any team is in the market for Lehner it'll be Calgary after putting Smith on IR. I think the Isles will go after a defenseman before hitting the goalie market. Not only that but paying a first round pick for one is crazy.

It really depends on if they win the Cup or not. It'll be similar to Yandle. They won't resign McD but they'll have two runs at the cup with him. If they don't win the Cup, then it was a pointless trade. If they do, then they become the winners. I also have a soft spot for Donato after the Olympics so maybe thats why I value him so highly

Zuccarello - Another Option at Wing?
I don't think the Rangers accept any sort of trade without a 1st Rd pick involved. If Zucc gets traded it'll be at the draft and he'll certainly gauge plenty of interest, I don't know if this is what the Rangers would want for a return. Teams like SJ, EDM, or DAL would give up a ton for a winger like Zucc.

Not many of these are very realistic. It's a ton to give up for Miller, Nash, and Zucc. Also Pavs to the Blues makes no sense, they have two goalies there and sending two picks to the Rangers for an injured backup is just an impossible scenario. Two picks for Desharnias is also wishful thinking. I would happily accept a Mcdonagh trade that sends the Rangers the rights to Cal Foote, 2018 1st Rnd, 2019 2nd Rnd, and one of Koekkoek or Dotchin

Draft Day Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sagecoll</b></div><div>I agree with the notion that the Rangers are desperate for possession positive players. They have the worst possession numbers in the league as of now. Just think the easiest way to do this is to start with an absolute stud prospect and build around it. Just don't think Raddysh is enough of a stud to build around. Point yes, Serg yes. But I don't think Tampa is parting with those pieces.
Rangers could accomplish this too just by buying out Staal, getting rid of Kampfer and Holden, and bringing up the kids. In addition, if you wanted to sign a positive possession guy like Alex Biega, or Mackenzie Weegar, or even Radko Gudas that's a move. But Dotchin just doesn't have enough ceiling either to build a trade around.</div></div>
Oh god no Radko please. Those guys have positive possession numbers BUT they aren't going up against the top talent every single night. Dotchin is, and he puts up fantastic defensive numbers. He's essentially a Stralman like player circa 2014. As long as the kids come up next season and not this current one then I'm all for it. But Dotchin IS a kid still. 23 years old and can still play heavy minutes on the first line with Shat and he'd be incredibly affordable.

I think Toronto would be the best spot for Mac at the draft. And if that happens then Liljegren HAS to be included. I would honestly take a 1st, Liljegren, and lower pick for Mac. Liljegren is a ******* stud.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sagecoll</b></div><div>No interest in Raddysh, sluggish skater who is poor at defense, padding points by parking himself in front of the goal. Dotchin is Connor Carrick. A nice possession guy sure. But We can have Connor Carrick for cheap. Tampa and Boston don't have a prospect inside the Pronman top 50, which indicates ceiling, You need top line or top pair talent coming back for a top 20 D man. End of story.
Blue Chips mean top 30 prospects. Cody Glass, Nick Suzuki, Eric Brannstrom, Jordan Kyrou, Robert Thomas, Timothy Liljegren, Eeli Tolvanen, etc etc. Raddysh is trash compared to these guys. Not a centerpiece.</div></div>
I do not read any ESPN coverage of the NHL. I don't like Pronman as a writer, or an analyst so maybe that's where the divide is for our opinions. I believe Raddysh is a top 50-75 prospect in the NHL and has great offensive upside. And the Rangers need a player of Dotchin's caliber, especially for Shat. But like I stated before, this is the trade I picture TBL and NYR to make IF its at the deadline. Otherwise he'll be dealt at the draft and then MAYBE another team can provide a better deal. I believe that it's more likely he gets dealt at the draft.

Necessary Trades pt. 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sagecoll</b></div><div>I'm just not sure what you mean in terms of development. Aside from Theodore, they don't have a defenseman under 25. I think the question most gm's ask themselves is whether they'd like to be pretty competitive for 4 years or win the cup in one. I think all of em take the latter.
If we're going by what the market is: Keith Yandle gets a 19 year old who had 8 points in 18 games. a 1st rounder, a 2nd rounder, and a former 1st round defenseman, who's now in the Devils top 4. McDonagh gets more than that because he's a more 2 way player. Now I feel like I've adjusted for that pretty well. IF I dropped the 3rd rounder does that sway your opinion?</div></div>
I don't think you can compare the Yandle deal because the Rangers were in a much different situation. They were going all in for the Cup. VGK has a bright future with their future picks and prospects. Rangers wanted to mortgage the future in order to get Yandle. Why would VGK do the same for a player that they'd have to resign to long term expensive contract that would impede on them giving their future players contracts? I just don't see VGK ever saying yes. I don't see them even calling. Not only that but with the inevitable Seattle expansion, that just adds another body that would have to be protected.

Have a strong feeling this site over values prospects compared to NHL GM's</div></div>
But they don't need a 1D. That's my point. I think they'd jump on the chance to resign their players and continue to develop. I honestly like the idea a lot. A trade between VGK and NYR would be awesome but two prospects, a first rounder, and a third rounder for a player they don't necessarily need seems excessive. It makes more sense for TBL to take a run at him before VGK does.
I have a strong feeling that you think you're the smartest on this site and don't receive critique well.

I don't really understand why VGK would even want Mac? They have one of the best prospect pools in the league and that's been their plan. Why would they give up some of their best prospects and a 1st for a D with an expiring contract? They clearly are building for the future and less for immediate success.

I think that's close to the deal that happens with TBL. Raddysh is a blue chip prospect who has a great chance to make the NHL. His numbers in the OHL are solid and his was fantastic during the World Juniors. Dotchin has unreal advanced stats and would be perfect next to Shat. I don't know what your problem is with that. However, I would prefer Mac to be dealt at the draft to a western conference team where his stock might be a bit larger.
